Three people have died in a plane crash at Shellharbour Airport in southern New South Wales. The plane crashed shortly after take-off this morning and caught fire on the tarmac. New South Wales Police Inspector Aaron Wunderlich said they're working to formally identify the bodies.

00:00A plane departed shortly after 10 o'clock this morning from here at Shell Harbour Airport.
00:07The plane has taken off from the tarmac and has got about 30 metres into the air.
00:15At that point, witnesses have described the aircraft has then dipped with its left wing
00:20coming down and contacting the tarmac.
00:24Unfortunately the plane was then engulfed and the three people that were on board have
00:31all been confirmed as deceased.
00:35Police are working to identify or formally identify the three people involved.
00:39We've got several witnesses that were here.
00:41We also had RFS on scene for a training exercise.
00:45So some people from RFS have actually witnessed the accident.
00:50Also people at the Haas Museum have witnessed it.
00:53And we've also got some CCTV that captures part of the incident.
00:56We will offer them welfare support and counselling.
00:59It's quite a gruesome scene.
01:01So yeah, I'm sure some people react differently to it, but it's something I think they should
01:06speak to someone about.
