A grieving family is heartbroken over a plan to remove and relocate a memorial for 16-year-old Tyler Hastie. Tyler was hit by a car and killed when attempting to cross the Bussell Highway in 2020.

00:17My friend Kojo rang us and told us that there's a young boy on the road and then we went over

00:25and had a look and it was Tyler.

00:27Main Roads wants to relocate the memorial on the Bustle Highway, concerned there's no

00:32pedestrian crossing to access Tyler's memorial, putting drivers at risk as well.

00:39But it's taken Main Roads five years to reach this conclusion.

00:43For Tyler's family, the exact location of the memorial carries great emotional significance.

00:49It's extremely important that we go there and it's extremely important that it stays there.

00:54The effect of potentially moving the memorial causing more suffering for the family.

00:59It's the place where they lost their life, they took their last breath and it's such a significant
