00:00Hello there, I'm Travis Willingham, an executive producer and cast member of The Mighty Nine, and with me is Sam Riegel.

00:06I'm also an executive producer and cast member of The Mighty Nine.

00:09Travis and I also are the geniuses behind The Legend of Vox Machina, and we're so excited for you guys to see The Mighty Nine.

00:18We're so excited for you guys to keep watching The Legend of Vox Machina,

00:21but there are some crucial differences between the two series that we wanted to talk to you about today.

00:27The world of The Mighty Nine is much bigger. We see the Kreen dynasty, we see the Dundalian empire,

00:32there are large pieces moving behind the scenes before we even meet any of our characters.

00:38The characters are different from The Legend of Vox Machina in many ways.

00:42They're still colorful, they're still exciting, they're still super entertaining and funny too.

00:47You got nothing on me. I didn't even have a weapon.

00:50Unless you count these pythons.

00:53Wanna give me a cavity cinch? Make sure I'm not hiding anything?

00:56They come with a host of sort of inner demons.

01:00They are more sophisticated characters, more mature characters.

01:03They're not just heroes who want to do hero stuff. They've got real shit to work through.

01:08And as opposed to Legend of Vox Machina, where the group all started together in a tavern,

01:12your classic adventuring party starting point,

01:15we're gonna meet these characters as individuals from their various backgrounds, where they've come from.

01:20So you get a little bit more insight into what shaped them, what were they doing before they came together as a group,

01:26and what is it that's driving each of them.

01:29And they're not always altruistic goals or desires, and they're gonna have to figure out how,

01:35when they are thrown together in various pairings, how they're gonna work together as a group.

01:39They're morally gray characters.

01:41And I'd also just say that the show, of course it's exciting, of course it's thrilling fantasy adventure.

01:47Come with me if you want to live!

01:49But there's a lot more intricate magic, the components that you use to make magic,

01:54the incantations, the way that people learn magic or are granted magic, is a big, big deal in the Mighty Nein.

02:00Much, much more so than Legend of Ox Machina, which sort of just, they have magic.

02:05That's right, plus Matthew Mercer's original magic creation of Dunamancy,

02:09which we will see from the Kreen dynasty, along with the Beacon and Essek Thalys,

02:13bringing about new spells, new powers, new feats, things that are just gonna up the arcane game across the gambit.

02:20Also, most noticeably, the Mighty Nein is much longer than the Legend of Ox Machina.

02:24Oh, is it, Travis?

02:25It is! More time per episode, more time per season.

02:29Yes, more time per episode to cut away to other things going on in the world.

02:33Intrigue, politics, backstory, backstabbing, events that we didn't get to see in the campaign.

02:40But also, we are making a bunch of changes from how the original campaign was delivered,

02:45only because the editing process and the adaptation process requires it.

02:49As opposed to the Legend of Ox Machina, we started out from a more interesting place for these characters,

02:54and I think the main goal behind that was whether you are a die-hard Mighty Nein fan,

02:59or you've watched all of Critical Role, or whether or not you're coming to the show for the very first time,

03:03we want to present it in a way so that die-hard know-it-alls and the newbies will be on the same sort of playing field.

03:10And we hope we got something for both of you there.

03:13And there is hardcore sex in every episode.

03:17That's not exactly true, but what we do have is an incredible cast of actors,

03:22starting with names like Mark Strong, playing Trent Ickithon.

03:26Yes, Anika Noni Rose is in this, Raoul Coley is in this.

03:30Jonathan Frakes is in this, Alan Cumming.

03:32Ming-Na Wen, Robbie Damon, our friend.

03:35Absolutely.

03:36Auli'i Cravalho is in this.

03:38And of course, Tim McGraw.

03:39Tim McGraw, he's an actor and a singer, just like me.
