00:00Hello and welcome to this South Australian James weather update for Friday.

00:04We have fairly clear skies all in through here.

00:07The rain band has dissipated, but there's still something to be up in the north,

00:10which we'll watch shortly.

00:11In the south here, I really want to direct your attention

00:14to this field of speckled cloud that is to our southeast.

00:18That represents cold air and it is a cold outbreak

00:21that is heading across the southeast.

00:23I'll show you that hour by hour what to expect.

00:25The yellow areas in through here,

00:27that is a severe weather warning for damage in wind gusts.

00:30So we do have that in the far southeast corner during the day on Friday

00:34as yet another cold front peaks over here and slides across the southeast,

00:38not delivering much in terms of wet weather.

00:41But yes, we do get the wind gusts.

00:43So let's have a look at day by day what to expect.

00:44All clear through here, wet weather brewing to the north.

00:48In the southeast, it's just a little bit.

00:50Here's our field of cold air that is to our south.

00:53That is Friday.

00:54We've got a ridge of high pressure that is running in through here,

00:56creating those clear skies.

00:57So having a look at Saturday, the ridge is here.

01:00It has broken in through these parts.

01:01Here's our next wet weather system.

01:03It's going to come down from the north,

01:05but it's not going to do much for us here.

01:07It really does not come into the south at all.

01:09There is no connection.

01:10Now, all of this cold air that is to the south,

01:12that represents energy in the upper levels of the atmosphere as well.

01:16That feeds into that and moves it in through here.

01:19So let's watch that.

01:20Here we are Saturday.

01:21Here we have Sunday not coming down into us here.

01:25And then Monday it is moving away.

01:27So it clips the northeastern parts of South Australia

01:29and it doesn't travel any further southwards.

01:32Going back to Saturday, we've got this in the southeast.

01:34We've got our cold air into Sunday.

01:36That's really pushing across the southeast there.

01:38A cold outbreak, snow to low levels at the bottom of Tasmania.

01:42That's how chilly it is.

01:44Here's the next high pressure system by Sunday.

01:46So by Monday, there it is over the top of us here.

01:49Very, very light wet weather into Tuesday.

01:52Out to our east, here's our next surge of heat that is coming down.

01:55So let's watch that.

01:56Tuesday, Wednesday, here's the cool change at the very end of that burst of heat.

02:02Thursday, the cool change is up to here.

02:04So the cool change moves across during the day.

02:06On Thursday, the temperatures significantly jump up out ahead of that.

02:10Here's our next change, which comes into us later next week.

02:13But the next high moves in quickly, so we're not likely to see much from that one either.

02:18So this isn't going to add up to very much at all over the next week.

02:21Maybe 10 to 15, 15 to 25 in that very southeast corner.

02:25Otherwise, not much at all.

02:27Zero to one, one to five, that's pretty much it.

02:30We've got our northeastern corner that sees that next band of rain coming through,

02:34but that does not connect down.

02:35So miss out in the middle in through here.

02:38So for Adelaide, let's have a look.

02:39We're in the high teens right through to the early part of next week.

02:43Then temperatures significantly jump up as the high moves out to our east

02:46and that next surge of heat comes down.

02:49Lots of sunshine for Friday.

02:50As we move into Saturday, there is the slight risk.

02:53Look at this.

02:53It's 1.6 millimetres, 1 millimetre as it moves through.

02:57So it's on the weekend that we see the cold outbreak in the southeast.

03:00Keep your lid on our temperatures here, but just producing very light wet weather.

03:04That clears out on Monday, about 17.

03:07Then temperatures jump 20, 28, 28.

03:09The cold change is due later on on Thursday.

03:12See you at southwesterly by the end of Thursday.

03:14And we're back down to 18 as we move into next Friday.
