00:00Hello and welcome to this Jane's Weather Update.
00:03This is for South Australia updated on Friday.
00:06We've got a big weather system in the east,
00:08another big weather system in the west,
00:10and we have high pressure over the central parts into the southeast for today.
00:14And that's what is likely to continue over the weekend.
00:16However, this system in the east might deliver a little bit of rain to us.
00:20Let's unpack that.
00:22So as we go through the day on Friday,
00:24we've got some big falls in Queensland and northern New South Wales,
00:27but not really for us here in South Australia.
00:30That is going to move eastwards as we head into Saturday.
00:33So big falls in through here.
00:35Have a look at this.
00:35It's the remains of it.
00:37It's the dregs of it, really,
00:39that's coming down across the far eastern parts of South Australia
00:42during the day on Saturday,
00:43and just making it down to Adelaide and maybe into the southeast.
00:47There's going to be clouds, there's going to be some rain,
00:49but it's not going to add up to much in the rain gauge
00:51because it's just the leftover parts of that.
00:54That continues as we go into Sunday before it moves out
00:57because this system has now moved away.
00:59And we've got a high pressure system east of Tasmania,
01:02bringing warmer conditions in through here
01:04and onshore stream showers for the east coast.
01:06Let's have a look what's happening over the west.
01:08So we've got during the day on Friday, starting on Saturday,
01:12big, stronger cold front, beat of tropical moisture.
01:15So there's some big falls as it moves through there,
01:17spreading inland during the day on Sunday.
01:19But watch what happens.
01:21High pressure over the southeast, acting as a block.
01:24High pressure just in behind it, also acting as a block.
01:28Lovely feed of tropical moisture from the northwest there.
01:31Here we are by the end of Monday.
01:33It's here over Adelaide.
01:34So by the end of Monday there,
01:36the next high pressure system here already over the Bight.
01:39So that acts as a block,
01:40and it stops that feed of tropical moisture coming in from the northwest.
01:45Also, the front running into that high out ahead of it,
01:47means it starts sliding.
01:49So we're missing two things here.
01:51Huge falls over the southwest, they had the instability.
01:54They also had the tropical moisture.
01:56By the time it reaches us, we're losing the instability.
01:58We're also losing that moisture.
02:00So we're not going to see as much of that.
02:02Lovely down in the Southern Ocean here,
02:04but not really for us because it's not taking the right trajectory.
02:08So that's during the day on Monday into Tuesday.
02:11So clearing out by the end of Tuesday,
02:12high pressure here already over the Bight.
02:15Let's have a look what else is going on
02:16as we move into Wednesday.
02:18By the end of the day, it's over Victoria.
02:19So we're starting to see northly winds.
02:21Next weather system coming into the west.
02:24Let's watch that come through during the day on Thursday.
02:26Again, a feed of tropical moisture.
02:28Lovely falls as it crosses through.
02:30By the end of Thursday, here is that cold front.
02:33Look at the difference.
02:35It's no longer like this, like the first time I was.
02:37It has moved down like this.
02:38So it's on an angle.
02:39And watch that as it comes through and what that means for us.
02:42However, high pressure is sitting here over New South Wales.
02:45So again, that is a little bit of a block.
02:47So let's watch that move through.
02:49Not going to be a well inland system, but there may be some nice falls as it comes in.
02:5410 to 15 millimetres, perhaps in the far southeast, 5 to 10, 2 to 5.
02:59So obviously decreasing as you head inland.
03:01Here's the high pressure system by the next day.
03:04There might be more to come through with this one as we move through next weekend.
03:07So that is something to watch.
03:09All right.
03:09Let's have a look at totals as that comes through.
03:12The big falls are definitely here in Queensland.
03:14We just see the dregs of that coming through.
03:16Into the southwest, 50 to 75 millimetres.
03:20The lovely combination of tropical moisture and low pressure.
03:24By the time it reaches us here, 5 to 10, maybe 10 to 15, 15 to 25 if we're lucky.
03:30And that is only in the southeastern corner.
03:32Let's have a look at Adelaide and what the timing of that looks like.
03:35So Friday, we're in the sunshine.
03:37On Saturday and Sunday, there will be a lot of cloud that is there coming down from Queensland.
03:41There will be some wet weather, some patchy light rain as it comes through.
03:45You're going to notice the rain, but it's not going to add up to much in the rain gauge.
03:491.6 millimetres, 1.5 millimetres.
03:51It also keeps a little bit of a lid on temperatures, particularly on Saturday.
03:56Then it clears out during the day on Sunday.
03:58Let's watch that.
03:58And it's zoomed up to 19.
04:00So there's the rain early on and then skies clearing as the afternoon goes on.
04:04So it'll be nicer by the time we get to Sunday afternoon.
04:07Heading into Monday, here we go.
04:08Partly cloudy, then light rain at times in the evening.
04:11So that's when that cold front hits.
04:13We're not expecting a lot from that.
04:14So most of that is after dark.
04:17And then into the early hours of Tuesday.
04:19There it is, all gone by dawn.
04:21In fact, by lunchtime, it is completely sunny.
04:23So that is a late Monday into early Tuesday feature.
04:26Then we're mostly sunny on Wednesday.
04:28Mostly sunny, then cloud builds into Thursday.
04:31That's when the next one is more likely.
04:3313 millimetres is a possibility to gain.
04:36It's a full week away.
04:37We'll see whether it still has that same trajectory as it comes through.
04:40Still has that same access to tropical moisture to see what we'll get from that one.
04:44But certainly one to watch.
04:46For the latest, always head to Farm Online Weather.
04:48nerede care?
04:50Do find examples.
