00:00Hi, David here. I have a video request from my buddy Frankie. Frankie wanted to see the interior of the B-17F, and I wanted to show off how completely restored it is up to 1943 combat shape. So, Frankie, this video is for you. First, we're going to start at the ball turret.
00:17Here's a gun sight. Both machine guns are in place.
00:47Go on over to the tail gun position.
01:17There's a lot of people to go.
01:23A lot of people.
01:27A lot of people.
01:31OK.
01:36When I was a chicken I was hungry.
01:47I was hungry for a drink.
01:52Oh yeah, I was hungry.
01:59I was hungry.
02:05Animal box.
02:28Here we're walking through the waste hat.
02:30Ouch, I just bumped my head.
02:32Here's the auxiliary generator.
02:35And there is the tail wheel and the tail landing gear assembly.
02:54And here's the control cables.
02:57Ammo box for the left waist ring.
03:03Ammo box for the right waist gunner.
03:0650 cal browning machine gun baby.
03:16And there's the left gun.
03:21It's an oxygen station.
03:28The walk around bottle.
03:33There's a recharger for the portable oxygen bottle.
03:40Up here is the suit heater control.
03:47And here's the oxygen control for the waist cutters.
03:54And there's the intercom box.
03:55Oxygen station for the left wing gunner.
04:09Oops.
04:11Looking forward.
04:13Here's the leading antenna control motor.
04:20This spool winds out wire to the trailing antenna.
04:25Did I say leading antenna?
04:26I meant trailing antenna.
04:28There's a lead weight at the end of this wire on the outside of the plane.
04:32That retracts the antenna for long distance communications.
04:39There's a ball turret.
04:41The ball turret has its own oxygen bottle which is rechargeable.
04:47There's an emergency pack.
04:51Gibson girl radio is inside of there.
04:54And now we approach the radio room.
04:57A typical combat airplane did not have these two seats on the side.
05:05On the floor is where the crew sat for takeoffs and landings.
05:09And here's a radio operator seat.
05:12Here's a radio operator's oxygen station.
05:19Morse code key.
05:22There's a control for one of the antennas.
05:31Oh, maybe that's a control for trimming a frequency on the radio.
05:35I'm not sure.
05:37Got a little light there.
05:40There's a bailout bell.
05:43In case you need to bail out.
05:45There's the ammunition supply for the radio gunner.
05:50As you can see the hatch is open.
05:53There's a blue outside of the hatch.
06:01Beautiful day today in Seattle.
06:04There's a bank of radios.
06:09These cables are the command cables from the flight deck for the pilot and co-pilot to trim the frequency on their radios.
06:16So they can make communications outside the airplane.
06:19Walking into the bomb bay.
06:23There's a catwalk.
06:25Right here.
06:26There's the bombs.
06:27There's an oxygen station here.
06:31Usually the relief tube is right against this wall here.
06:36I don't see a relief tube in this way.
06:38Good thing I don't need to take a leak.
06:43There's a fuse at the front and rear of each bomb.
06:46With a safety wire so they don't explode prematurely.
06:51Here's a bomb rack.
06:53I'm going to squeeze through here.
06:56Here's an emergency operation of the landing gear in case the power is out.
