Ticket — Awake 1972 (New Zealand, Heavy Psychedelic, Blues Rock)
A two-album band from Auckland, formed in May 1970 by former Challenge members Eddie Hansen and Ricky Ball. Bandleader Eddie Hansen's idols were Jimi Hendrix and Traffic. In October 1971, Ticket performed with Elton John in front of 20,000 people at his debut show at Auckland's Western Springs. That same year, their first single, "Country High / Highway Of Love," was released (#12 on the national chart), followed by their debut LP, Awake, in May 1972. In June 1972, a successful performance at Sydney's Whisky-Go-Go exceeded all expectations, followed by equally prestigious concerts in Queensland and Victoria...
