In northern Vietnam, heavy rains triggered by Typhoon Matmo have caused extensive damage across multiple regions, according to the Department of Dike Management and Natural Disaster Prevention under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment. By 5:00 PM local time on October 8, nearly 22,600 hectares of rice and other crops were flooded, while hundreds of thousands of livestock and poultry perished or were swept away. The floods left 16,918 homes inundated, caused landslides, and disrupted traffic at 66 points along national roads. Operations on the Hanoi–Dong Dang railway line were suspended, and many provincial and rural roads remain impassable.
