We went from selling cinnamon buns in a U-Haul truck to making over a million dollars in about
00:05
a year. We have done about 500,000 buns to date and it's climbing exponentially as we go throughout
00:13
the month. This was my son's first Christmas. We knew we wanted to bake something special and I
00:19
had a book of my grandmother's cinnamon buns. So we made it and our family was like, you guys need
00:24
to sell these. These are the best cinnamon buns we've ever eaten. I put a post out on curbside
00:28
pickup of Monmouth County and the response was insane. From that point on, people were lining up
00:34
in the parking lot just to get a taste of them. Because I had marketing experience, the first
00:38
things that you think of when you're in marketing is what is your brand? What's the name? What's the
00:43
logo? And from the very beginning, we called ourselves the best cinnamon buns in New Jersey
00:48
and I think we truly believe that and we still believe that and I think when you believe something
00:52
so intrinsically about your product, you become that. Social media has been so instrumental to
00:59
our business because I had a lot of marketing experience. A couple of our posts in the beginning
01:03
went so viral. We haven't spent a cent on marketing or social media influencers at all. We do have
01:09
influencers come into our space. The last influencer that came, we had a 300% increase in sales. In 2024
01:16
alone, we did about $750,000 in sales. The cost of ingredients has definitely gone up in the past
01:22
couple years, like the price of eggs, the price of butter, but we will never compromise our products.
01:27
We were one of the first buns to be that pricing of like $10 a bun and people were like, how could you
01:31
charge that? Now every bakery is charging $10 for a cinnamon bun because you got to know your worth.
01:36
If you're putting the work in and you're putting the good ingredients in, people will come and they'll buy it.
01:42
Everything is a challenge when you're a small business owner. And it really is just a matter
01:46
of who's going to last the longest. And it was us. I think that living authentically has really been
01:53
what has propelled Mavs Top Buns from the beginning. And I think it's the idea that you create what you
01:58
manifest. We were two people making cinnamon buns out of my kitchen. Sometimes we'd lose power and we'd roll
02:04
buns by candlelight. It was those times where if you keep going, you will succeed. I am the type of person
02:11
that doesn't set too far long-term goals. I believe that things come to you when they are supposed
02:16
to come to you. But I do think that there is a world where Mavs Top Buns is a household name.
