00:00You're in this crazy position with the World Cup about an illegible player you could potentially
00:13get in. Do you hope you can? Yeah, I think we always have that sense of belief and I
00:20think until that fight's over we're going to give it 100%. I've seen crazier things
00:25happen in football especially in Africa so there's no reason for us not to believe but
00:30there's only one focus for us to to give our all to the end and yeah I hope that's enough
00:34to get us to America. The highest goal scoring defender, the history of the Afrikaans, what does that mean to you?
00:42It means a lot for example Stephen Keshe who gave me my debut who was such a legend and my
00:47idol as a player would have been very proud looking down at that moment so I think that's
00:52what means a lot to me. This will potentially be your last African that must pull at the heartstrings but what are your ambitions this time around?
01:01The only thing left now to get is gold and the trophy so that is the ambition for me for
01:07the team something that we speak about very openly and I think we've got such a
01:11talented squad I think it's hard not to talk about the back-to-back African best
01:17players with Victor Ximena and Adam Oluqman. I'm really excited to see what Calvin Bassey's development will be.
01:23He's a player that I've seen now for the last four years
01:26and I think he's going to be a real leader in defence and something that I keep a special eye out for.
01:32But yeah across the board we've got so many players that are really excelling and I think the new generation
01:38of football for Nigeria is really exciting and yeah I think these experiences and what I can help them with
01:45and talk them through would hopefully go a long way.
01:49A talking of leadership, a brilliant partnership with Leon Mann who is a game-changer, someone everyone will know,
01:56Mario Otoje, the winning Lions captain and England rugby captain.
02:00I love being on there, I love sharing my journey but even more so to kind of understand their journey
02:07and trying to get some gems of them and also cross-referencing that across another great sport,
02:12rugby with such an amazing leader and generational talent with Mauro.
02:17There are so many things that are transferable.
02:20I also want to talk about the incredible work that you're doing with your foundation.
02:25We spent the day with you redistributing Kit.
02:28Kit's day is amazing, I think Derek is an exceptional person.
02:32We want to continue their good work and help them with the logistics of getting it to Nigeria
02:37and to the right people.
02:39Some of these shirts will be doubling their wardrobe and I think that is what really sums up the work that he's doing
02:46and the need for these kids to not only just have sports gear to play and exercise in
02:52but even just to give them a piece of hope, inspiration.
02:56You've not only been holding matches in Nigeria but one orphanage, thanks to you looks like an orphanage
03:05and you're an uncle to many an inspirational child.
03:07The biggest talking point for Africa that there's talent in abundance but there's not always opportunities
03:13and that starts with just simple quality of life.
03:16So every time I go back to the orphanage for me it's also very emotional
03:21and I want to have joyful memories for them as well when we're there but it's very touching
03:26and I hope that we have many kids that will be able to follow their dreams from there.
03:30I think that will be a life fulfilling goal for me if we manage to do that with the Foundation.
03:35Thank you very much.
03:44Thank you, everyone.
