02:22what designers deserve to go to the finale and which two should be out what about belania

02:28you knew exactly who she was as a designer yeah as much as i loved it she kind of redesigns the look

02:35that we've loved over and over and over again with the many different pieces i mean we want to see a

02:40collection where people don't play it safe and we want a surprise but still see their dna as a

02:45designer but you want something new i like belania i feel like she could be a winner ethan's i love

02:51it gave me wicked in an unexpected way in a way that i had not seen wicked before avant-garde but

02:59it's not as original as jesus in my opinion what jesus did immediately wicked i can totally see

03:08cynthia wearing this it was like you know already in the silhouette i was like wow she looked stunning

03:13okay but are his clothes up to par i think so i'm not sure so do we think his brother deserves a spot

09:38do a pink collection no one will ever understand the bond and the connection that i have with antonio

09:44i wanted to do something very special for him so i'm doing tones of pinks for my collection but also

09:50that's my mom's favorite color she's been my biggest inspiration in life she's such a warrior and

09:56she always wants to feel beautiful so my goal for this collection is to make women feel beautiful

10:02sexy and make them feel like the best version of themselves that's going to be said oh hello my

10:09inspiration for this collection is rich and i really want my work to look expensive and regal two of these

10:17i'm going for fuel tones i'm going for crystal i wanted to allude to how utica makes me feel

10:25powerful and free and so i want to be able to amplify that in my clothes and present that on

10:31the runway when you find cool you find cool i forked my little bony ass off but i am a little bit

10:40intimidated i've not only not done a collection before but like the other contestants are established

10:48designers already wish me luck hi they have a leather that kind of looks like metal yeah you know the

11:01mercury man from the movie terminator yeah so i kind of want to achieve that using leather so this

11:08collection is inspired by this character he just transforms into different various shapes is it oh my

11:15god yes oh my god i'm obsessed with it i'm exploring the idea of asymmetry different angles and different

11:24weird shapes i want to achieve that villain power that that character has like you know like you can't

11:30kill him and for me i've been through a lot but i'm still here you can't kill me oh my god i'm so excited

13:29the morning of day two we have a lot to do you know i didn't go to like fashion design school i didn't

13:37go to pattern school so sometimes i feel like i skip a lot of steps to create my work

13:41voila like i love draping i love like creating beautiful shapes on the mannequin and once i get

13:48the vibe i can just dive in and create beautiful pieces i love it this collection is very hem of

13:55course but have i seen it before yes so today the first thing that i need to figure out is how i'm

14:05gonna execute to what i have in mind it's so abstract that it can lead to a disaster or it can lead to a

14:13success i think i'm really ahead of the game right now i have so many pieces so many ideas that i can't

15:48for the trans community for mimi to be the first trans woman model ever appeared in project runway

16:12our work they're the difference between winning the whole thing or going home with nothing okay vj you

16:41keep her as a muse and i told and i talked about it i really want to work with her i know but honestly

17:02thing i don't even buy it the reality of this competition is that jesus has been hostaging

19:09magical to the runway this one is a little cowl gown so it covers the head i see he's doing this beaded

19:16helmet it reminds me of the look from the avant-garde challenge we already know that the judges want to

19:22see something new from us why is he doing the same thing i love this one yeah got little hands to come

19:28out they're literally gonna be like you just made this look and that i think would make you not win

19:32just right from that really yeah definitely hundred percent this one i think is an okay place the

19:39cowl's really cool i just think again like the same thing i have five pieces draped on the dress form

19:48to try to fill out this collection and christian is saying no to all of them so what are we doing

19:54how are we gonna change it my lack of experience is showing this is a lot to take on in this amount

20:00of time so i'm like freaking out i want to win so this is going to be the biggest pivot of all

20:08i see a lot of confusion nathan since he's never done a collection i'm nervous for him and there's

20:19really nothing you can do about that he just has to figure it out wow we're pink and feathery

20:25it's a party it's only five looks so you got lots of options if one doesn't work yeah the challenge was

20:32to do five looks but i was never going to just have five looks because i am an extremely fat sour

20:39so i think my strategy is to have more looks so i have the opportunity in this next few days to just

20:45take things away and edit you know you're really committing to pink law is gonna say it's valentino

20:51collection valentino pink right i just think it's nice to have a little break christian's right i know

20:58the judges don't react well with references so i have to make sure that i stay true to myself

21:03my aesthetic and my dna i'm obsessed with this it's cool yeah yeah i mean it's beautiful yeah and

21:10it just breaks it up a little bit yeah i just don't want you to make any silhouette that feels like it's

21:15been done yeah like that gown i love that shape but i think you can make a cooler more interesting shape

21:22i want you to push it yeah don't you yeah i want to show who the estrata girl is sexy sophisticated

21:29with a touch of glamour i truly do feel like i can win this because i know what i'm capable of doing

21:35and i can push myself dj you have nothing made yeah have you kind of sketched it out since my collection

21:42is this transforming mercury dye and trying to manipulate the leather panels to create these

21:49different angles and different weird shapes so that it looks like a liquid metal right now i

21:55have a strong concept in mind but i feel like that i'm falling behind why don't you cut this in the

22:02leather okay start to stitch it and see what it looks like i don't know what vj's doing all i'm seeing

22:09is just little glimpses of silver and she seems a little confused you got nothing on your dress form

22:15what is happening i think vj's in trouble you gotta kind of just stop playing around with the

22:22conceptual ideas and you just gotta do it yeah i'm very determined to show the judges things that i've

22:29never done before compared to ethan and asus who just using the same pattern over and over again it's

22:35a very risky move for a finale collection but taking this risk is the only way that i can win this

22:42competition let's hope that i don't it up yeah let's circle like a sleeve and running back for

22:55them we need to jake this around her day three i have been forced to pivot but somehow i did it

23:02it's a little a lot of work so i'm really proud of myself now i can just really focus on the model

23:08fitting we only get two model things so if you don't have something to fit on the first one

23:14all right dive in this is oh christine comes in 15 minutes which is i think we got this you know

23:32i'll make sure that i like get him up there wow hey zeus this top you love it perfect no it's a maybe

23:40maybe what's the other option this could be doing something cool with this right i'm so happy that

23:46i kept my strategy i have more than five looks at this point i have a couple separates so now

23:52it's just piecing stuff together i have to pick the right ones i feel like this one needs a little

23:57something no let it be a simple what do you want it now you've got so much going on like yeah i just want

24:06more and more and more and more you got to play around with us a little bit yeah yeah it's me

24:10making me nervous to see that jesus already has done a lot but me i'm still figuring it out so that

24:18is really scary because this is not the right time to figure things out what's going on over here we're

24:23still figuring out vj mimi has no dress at all do you know what you're doing vj i am envisioning mimi

24:31wearing this beautiful silver chainmail kind of fabric when i picked that fabric it was actually a

24:39strategy because i know that the judges love sparkly fabrics on the runway but i haven't started yet

24:45you gotta drape mimi okay because you have no gown yeah okay get me i'm a little nervous over here

24:54let's go on the on the mirror it takes a lot of guts to use that fabric because if not done right

25:02it's gonna look cheap and it's gonna look costumey so today i need to start draping that fabric with

25:10mimi she is my finale look so i am going to be in a bad situation if this chainmail gown does not work

25:19wow so much energy wow it's all different this happened today my new plan is to marry my utica

25:26sensibilities with my ethan strength as a creator and bridge the two to create a really cool

25:32collection that is also kind of accessible i'm creating this dark evening gender bending energy

25:40throughout the pieces i don't think you should go to costume focus i do wish you were doing one of

25:49your gowns because they haven't really seen that like your big sculptural gown moments

25:55it takes a lot of time my big gowns take i would say like a week to build i'm already pivoting so

26:02much like you want me to pivot again i'd have to get more fabric we'll go get more fabric

26:10think about it it's very ambitious i'm hoping that this is possible but don't think i have time i might flop

26:18your collection reminds me of like terminator oh my god you got it even though without saying it

26:29that's really the inspiration i'm a witch bitch since this is the finale collection i want to share a

26:36piece of me when i was still a kid me and my dad used to watch terminator and it brings so much joy

26:44it was 2001 when my father passed away and after that our family suffered so much you know like

26:54our family became super poor yeah because he's the breadwinner of the family it's been hard without my

27:02dad but i still support my mom and my sisters back home in the philippines i told myself i'm gonna make

27:10sure to take my family out of this mess winnie project runway would give me the money to take

27:19care of my family and to give them a better life my mom is calling for the finale show and trust me mom

27:27i promise you that no matter what happens i'm going to make you proud you know like try to finish

27:31everything but i mean you're at a good point yeah okay that looks good all right

27:40we have two days and i gotta make a gown i mean i have made similar gowns like this but making

27:53something this quick is nuts coming into this competition from a different world i had a lot

28:01to prove i feel like a lot of the world views the drag community through the eyes like of a zoo

28:07see the beautiful animals but never let them out in real life winning the title will show that we

28:13as drag queens as drag designers deserve to be taken seriously after the fitting with the models yesterday

28:24it's now time to get out of that concept mode and start working start sewing really really fast

28:31uh why it's great because there's no time to experiment now is the time to finish

28:39my arms are already tired it's really heavy

29:47one garment so now it's like redemption i feel like i have to make sure this collection is even more

30:59models feel powerful and beautiful is the true testament of what my mom means to me so to me winning

31:36just really making sure that everything is fitting really well and after knowing that michael kors is

31:41going to be the judge it's really important to make sure that everything is perfect i kind of like

31:45the train honestly do one of your big crazy gowns well it looks way cooler doesn't it i'm so shook that

31:53i'm able to achieve these big shapes in this amount of time i still have an extensive amount of work to

31:58do but i'm doing it i'm going for it you've been really like pushing me off a cliff but thankfully i have

36:40all of these moments in this competition has led up to this final ultimate moment

36:47yes hello podcast runway we have a queen on the stage

36:56before this competition i created clothes for women of the night

37:02and i hope that after tonight i will create clothes for the people of the world thank you enjoy the show

37:22first selection ever in the rain

37:24i'm so proud of myself that i was able to make my model feel so beautiful in her skin

37:40and i love the movement of this piece ultimately this is the story that i want to tell

37:55that men can make femininity beautiful as well yeah i mean he's cute and all vampires kind of

38:18yes the statement piece this gown did not exist two days ago so for it to hit the runway is a huge triumph

38:28this challenge was so incredibly difficult i mean this collection was a pivot that goes down in

38:42history as something completely different than what it started out to be

38:45i think that like this collection is the embodiment of my resilience and my true testament to what i can

38:52make out of nothing and uh yeah i just hope it pays off

39:03i told my mom one day you'll see me there one day i will be part of that

39:09show and this is my time this is the moment i've been waiting for

39:13this collection is inspired by a movie that my dad that my dad and i used to watch when he was

39:27still alive the title of the collection is a beautiful moment enjoy

39:41my future's here and i'm chosen i'm shining bright

39:46my collection represents me as a designer because it is very innovative it's modern

39:58i think it's the right balance of concept and wearability and i hope that the judges agree

40:05after my dad's passing i made a promise to take his role and become the breadwinner of the family

40:17the rap is beautiful it's great kind of fabulous this moment is just the perfect moment to honor him

40:41mimi is wearing this asymmetric chainmail dress it's very dramatic and it's the perfect dress

40:48to end the collection is that chainmail it's like a beaded chainmail it's heavy

40:54and how heavy so that's done by him yeah this collection is everything that i have envisioned i did my

41:03best to show them that i am the designer who doesn't play it safe i'm really proud of myself as a trans

41:11woman i want to inspire my community that they can accomplish anything that they want thank you

41:19it feels pretty iconic that i'm going last right because don't they say that they saved the

42:13i've always had just big dreams and i'm living the dream right now by standing on this stage showing a

42:19collection as a finalist on project runway this is crazy this is so surreal and i'm just living the moment

42:39antonio is my fashion icon he's my inspiration and he is the reason why i'm here

42:49the plane every one of my girls so sexy confident and powerful which is who the estrata girl is

43:06jessica is just owning the runway it is a moment it is a feeling it is moving perfect

43:19i'm just so happy i'm so proud of each piece i'm so proud of the collection

43:24i know that i gave it my all and i'm really happy that i've got the opportunity to share this

43:30with the world and i really showed who i was the designer in this competition

43:36we did it girl

43:40they have five days to do this i've just i'm floored look like it took five months to make so i really

43:47don't understand the magic that they pulled i'm very impressed good job kids we tore it up it was

43:53so cool to see the designers compete and really put themselves out there i think we saw a lot of

43:58interesting and fresh pieces on the runway and so i'm really excited to see who comes out as the winner

44:06vj's finale gown was such a stunner i think vj should win because what she

44:12presented was so cohesive and had such a distinct point of view and it's speaking to the future and

44:17like that's kind of what i want to see from fashion the black dress he had made this finale dress was

44:31i would have loved to see some eyelets on it just to tie it back into the first four looks but

44:36the impact that that collection had like i could see miley cyrus wearing any of it

44:55i really loved jesus's collection i saw different uses of tailoring technique i thought the fit was

45:02really beautiful that's the one that stood out for me i would give it to jesus i appreciated that he

45:07used color and i would wear most of it oh my god welcome you should be very proud of your daughter

45:20you'll see in the show we fight a lot because we're sisters and we love each other each designer gave a

45:29different market a different mood so i don't know it's anybody's game at this point watching my

45:35invisible pearls now that was the finale i can't believe they did all of that in such a short time

45:47no it's crazy that they could do something that ambitious all of them really delivered on wowing us

45:53yeah their point of view really showed up on the runway why don't we bring out our final

45:59three and their models hello first off all of you how impressive to see the construction

46:13and the thoughtfulness in all of your collections very commendable thank you ethan michael kors this

46:22dress the work that's in it is spectacular i think a lot of girls would want to wear that dress

46:31yeah sign her up you are a storyteller which i love because i love when designers

46:37create this world and they live in this fantasy look two i can definitely see one of the pop girls

46:43wearing it you know charlie xcx it could be maybe addison ray look three the vampire i love the cutouts

46:52but one of the things that we talked about is trying to separate utica from ethan all i saw

46:59on this runway tonight was utica your clothes i can see even though we've just met they're inherently

47:07dramatic sometimes too much can be good if the hair would have been simple makeup would have been simple

47:14why do you love for dazzling everything so much i'm gay

47:21you do have all these amazing ideas and i did say don't bore us and you did not bore us just channel

47:28that drama with as much editing as possible because the elegance and the mystery with the editing

47:35is the powerful ultimate powerful combination because you have it all right jesus hello hi michael

47:44hi good to see you again it's been 15 years do you remember jesus i do yeah i do of course i think i

47:53was 12 and he was seven okay i think you started fabulously i love that top i thought the pants were

48:02great and i think this gown is fantastic thank you is there anything one can do so that the zipper is

48:08not as obvious or that's what tore me apart yeah because that's tough originally had a fuchsia zipper but

48:15i wanted the teeth because it was stronger you should have done it without the sleeve i love the sleeve

48:20come off sorry nina let's just say without without the sleeve oh yes that is a lot better because she looks

48:28more balanced i mean now she looks like a model with the sleeves it's more of a muppet less is more

48:35yes what i do love is that you can tell that the model loves this dress when the first look came out

48:40too it was like yes breath of fresh air i also i love the model too your girls were very happy they looked

48:48really excited you put on a show and it definitely showed thank you so much vj all in all i thought you

48:55did a wonderful job i do think that the first look was a gamble i'm sure some people could have

49:03thought that she looked clunky my favorite look was really the black one with a slashed trouser and

49:11then the little detail of the silver buttons that just killed me thank you i loved it to me she was

49:19kind of like lost within this collection i was kind of confused where she all of a sudden came from

49:25maybe one other look to be black and silver but this gown is spectacular it's glorious looking this

49:37really had that kapow factor thank you the third look i love the model i love how curvy she is and how

49:44you drape this around her yeah i was excited that i saw you introduce knits the way you draped it the

49:51shape on that model was absolutely incredible thank you you can leave the runway thank you so much

50:02it was pretty impressive ethan for me was the biggest surprise not in a good way he was like let's go

50:11wow let's go to town i'm going to go to town and i'm really going to show them you know i appreciate

50:18explosive creativity the talent is there the love of fashion is there there's drama and there's a

50:24lot of workmanship in those clothes it was extravagant wow moment yes he wants and it is

50:30every time when someone did come out it was like wow he loves more is more i can see that ethan

50:38could actually be out there and really be front center yes we have to remember in fashion there is a

50:47place for everyone and everything let's talk about vj so when that first dress walked out i was a little

50:57concerned there but then i thought interesting to take this wool ribbed knit nothing that luxurious

51:06and drape it yeah she was beautiful how good was that that was very good sensational actually

51:13now i think we all disagree about the black outfit i like the look it's just kind of she was lost in

51:19the show so do you it look like it came from left field yeah yeah and law to you the same it's not

51:25that i don't like the look happy that it did take me somewhere else because it was almost like a snippet

51:31of a very commercial and sellable look yeah and then that gown at the end it kind of was like just

51:39liquid and it went on it didn't look torture didn't look worked she looked beautiful yeah it's probably

51:45my favorite dress out of the collection this was a very surprising subtle in a good way yes in a very

51:51good way and she delivered and what do we think about jesus after the gothic i was so happy to see

52:00color and bold and joy i wish there was a little something else than just fuchsia everything no but

52:07guys confidence though it's a good thing the meek will not inherit the earth in the fashion world

52:12what's the the jewish word for chutzpah chutzpah that takes chutzpah to say you know what i'm doing

52:20all five of my looks pink and i'm going there that's what's great about fashion that's fashion

52:25yeah i mean give me the different flavors i was happy to see the sports were opening she looked

52:30amazing she was my favorite right girl right outfit yes all good that last look was my favorite you can

52:38be over the top and still have elegance the construction was really beautiful the way the

52:44hip was done i mean his intention is always there to make a woman feel and look beautiful he delivered

52:50on that and i will say that the audience when that pink gown came out they loved it they loved it

52:57yeah he does have the talent he does and i think jesus has got a more commercial point of view there is

53:05a client that will like this yeah they gave us a great finale collection this is a tough one but i

53:11think we made our decision yes yeah i think so all right let's bring out the designers

53:31designers when i decided to come back to project runway i was hoping to see amazing designers amazing

53:37fashion and breathtaking runway shows and all three of you have really made my decision worth it thank

53:44you thank you but as you know they can only be one winner ethan vj jesus i was really really impressed

53:57all three of you have really bright futures ahead of you in fashion and i can't wait to see more from
