President Donald Trump meets Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney in the Oval Office to discuss pressing trade issues, weeks after imposing a 35% tariff on Canadian goods. Talks are tense as Trump cites concerns over fentanyl shipments from Canada and Carney’s stance on Palestinian state recognition. This live meeting also follows Trump’s controversial comments about potentially annexing Canada as the 51st state, which Canadian leaders have strongly rejected.

00:00It's an honor to have the Prime Minister of Canada, Mark Carney, who I have made very popular.
00:06He's an extremely popular Prime Minister, and I'm very honored to do it because I liked him.
00:12Right from the beginning, I've liked him, and we've had a good relationship.
00:15We have some natural conflict, but we will probably work that out.
00:20But we've had a very strong relationship, and your hosting of the various countries that showed up were –
00:26that was a beautiful job you did, and I appreciate it very much.
00:30We're going to be talking about trade.
00:31We're going to be talking about a lot of different things.
00:33We'll certainly be talking about Gaza.
00:35We're in very serious negotiations to – I guess you could say, depending on the way you count, 3,000 years.
00:44You could say 500 years.
00:45You could say – but that – it's been raging for a long time.
00:49And I think there's a possibility that we could have peace in the Middle East.
00:53It's something even beyond the Gaza situation.
00:57We want a release of the hostages immediately.
00:59And so our team is over there now.
01:03Another team just left.
01:05And other countries – literally every country in the world has supported the plan.
01:09Yeah.
01:10I don't think there's anybody that hasn't, actually.
01:13Not that I've seen.
01:14But there's a real chance that we could do something.
01:17So you may have some questions on that later.
01:20But in the meantime, we'll spend some time, and we'll make some deals,
01:23and we'll do some things that are good for both of our countries.
01:27And, Mark, it's an honor to have you.
01:28Thank you very much.
