Gracie Darby was surprised by Micky and Minnie Mouse whilst enjoying dinner at Kiddie Kids before being transported to Manchester Airport for the holiday of a lifetime in Florida.
00:00Here we are today at Kiddie Kids. Grace is going to Florida. She's been flown out by a company called Destination Florida, which is a charity which provides terminally young children with holidays.
00:13So it's just absolutely amazing to be part of this dream which they all share and taking Grace to Manchester Airport for her to go to Florida. It's amazing.
00:25We first heard about Destination Florida when the school nurse came out to see us and said they would love to nominate Gracie because of what she's been through in her life.
00:36Obviously she's also lost her mother, which is my daughter, at a very young age.
00:42So they said they were going to nominate her. We thought nothing else of it.
00:46And then we got that call to say she'd been shortlisted. And then we got a call to say they were coming out to visit us.
00:52And we got told there and then on the day she was actually going to Florida. It's only just sunken she's going.
01:01I couldn't imagine charging the family. It's not in my nature to charge anybody for a service, given the circumstances of Gracie.
01:11It's just magical. And what Matt's done today for us, we wasn't expecting all this at all.
01:18So hats off to Matt's travel from Cone and a massive hats off to Paul and his team here for organising all this for us.
01:27We are so overwhelmed and we are just so grateful. We just can't thank anybody enough.
01:34I've got to admit it has been emotional. It's not easy. It's not easy.
01:39But we've just got to hold it all together for Gracie.
01:43Mickey's been here today a minute at Kiddy Kids. It's been absolutely amazing.
01:49The family's just eating as we speak at the minute.
01:53The whole family is astounded by what Kiddy Kids, myself, Mandy Boardman, what the people have done for this family.
02:01Sharon, her husband Ian, and also Gracie's auntie Jordie as well.
02:06It's just absolutely amazing. So on behalf of Matt's travel and the family and Paul Earnshaw, thank you to you all.
02:15She's loving it. Absolutely loving it.
02:17She's a little bit overstimulated, which is obvious we had a send child.
02:22But this, she'll dream about this forever.
02:25And the trip to Florida, it's memories we will never get to make with her.
02:30We have every faith in the charity, because there's 125 medical staff go, along with all the other volunteers.
02:39So we know she's going to be well looked after and she's going to have the time of her life.
02:45So we just can't thank anybody enough for what they've done today.
