00:00What are your thoughts on the team's remarkable journey? The last time the Tigers played at
00:05Comerica Park, they left the field to a chorus of scattered boos. Detroit had just endured a
00:10three-game sweep at the hands of Atlanta, contributing to a disappointing 1-5 record
00:14during their homestand. This downturn transformed what was anticipated to be a celebration of the
00:20team's first American League Central title since 2014 into a fierce battle for the division.
00:26The team, which had thrived on applying pressure to its rivals for nearly a year,
00:30appeared to be struggling under the expectations of being the frontrunner instead of the underdog.
00:35Some fans expressed their discontent with boos, while many others were left in stunned silence.
00:40They were on the brink of what could be considered one of the most significant
00:43collapses in division race history in Major League Baseball. However,
00:48their subsequent achievements have altered that narrative. After traveling to Cleveland,
00:53Boston, back to Cleveland, Seattle, and then returning home, the Tigers now have an opportunity
00:59to secure a spot in the AL Championship Series, a stage they haven't reached since Jim Leyland's
01:05last season. Jason took on the role of manager in 2013, allowing the team to avoid hitting the road
01:14again. They find themselves in a position similar to where they would have been had they experienced a
01:19downturn in September but with one significant difference. They have regained that competitive
01:25edge. Honestly, I feel like we've always envisioned ourselves in this situation, Tyler Holton remarked.
01:30The path we took to get here is somewhat unclear, but we've always believed we would reach this point
01:35and we trust each other to perform regardless of the circumstances. Much of that confidence is deeply
01:40rooted. Most of the team has shared numerous experiences, including last year's playoff journey,
01:46and several players who joined later bring their own postseason backgrounds. However,
01:51even for a squad that already possesses strong chemistry, the past two weeks filled with late
01:56night travel, hotel transitions, bus rides, unfamiliar food and clubhouses, various dining experiences,
02:04and tight-knit celebrations have further strengthened their bond.
02:07It's been quite a while since we've been home, remarked Jack Flaherty, who is set to be the first
02:12pitcher on the mound at Comerica Park in 16 days when he takes the field for Game 3 on Tuesday.
02:18However, it's also been a great bonding experience with the team. We've spent a lot of time together
02:23on the road, and our families have been traveling frequently as well. It's been a chance to connect
02:29with each other during those long flights, extended stays in hotels, and shared dinners. While it will be
02:35nice to return home, we'll embrace whatever comes our way, and having the chance to play a home playoff
02:40game is truly special. Securing that opportunity was not a certainty. When the Tigers departed
02:47from Comerica Park two weeks ago, nothing was assured. They only secured their postseason spot
02:52with a victory in Boston on the second-to-last day of the regular season. To move on to this division
02:57series, they had to overcome their late-season rival, the Guardians, in front of a challenging
03:02crowd in Cleveland. The team has secured a home game in the postseason, and those who purchased
03:09playoff tickets when they became available, did so, partly, out of hope.
03:13It's great to be back home, said manager A.J. Hinch. We had to earn this opportunity,
03:19and it took a lot to return here. I believe our players will relish being back in Detroit,
03:23wearing the English D and the white uniforms. Our fans should create an electric atmosphere.
03:28We're playing for a chance to win the series. I'm proud of the team for persevering through the
03:33last couple of weeks, and playing well to reach this point. If the Tigers' two-week road trip was
03:38a consequence of their struggles in September, it has ultimately made them a stronger team.
03:43I believe this team, both individually and collectively, is built to grind, Colt Keith
03:49remarked. I think we perform better when we have to fight for every at-bat. We tend to excel as the
03:55underdog. Of course we would prefer to be in the lead at all times and win the division as we would
03:59have liked to, but we learned to continue to fight. We took a moment to reflect on what needed to be
04:04done, regrouped, defeated Cleveland, and now here we are. Kyle Finnegan expressed,
04:10We're just thrilled to be playing in October. Although we've been away for a while, we've been
04:14engaged in many significant games. This is what we all aspire to achieve. There's no other place
04:19we'd prefer to be. The Tigers faced some tough road challenges along the way. The scattered jeers they
04:25faced during their last homestand were minor compared to the relentless booing
04:29they experienced in Cleveland and Seattle over the past week. Now, they can enjoy the support of a
04:35crowd cheering for them. Winning on the road is certainly different from winning at home,
04:40Holton remarked. You're up against everyone. I believe that when we find success on the road,
04:45it really motivates the team and strengthens our bond. Coming out on top brings a unique sense of
04:51accomplishment. Clearly, we're going to keep pushing forward. They are thrilled to return home,
04:56anticipating an incredible atmosphere. This is something they have come to value over the past
05:01few weeks. There's probably no better feeling than silencing a crowd, Spencer Torkelson remarked.
05:06The only thing that feels better is getting the home crowd fired up. We can discover ways to secure
05:12victories even when 45,000 fans are cheering against us. I believe that fosters confidence and a sense of
05:19self-belief within the team, showing that we can compete and win in any environment. This should boost
05:25our confidence and energy as we head back home. What are your thoughts on the team's remarkable journey?
