00:00Узбекистан
00:03Once overlooked by global investors,
00:06Узбекистан is now rewriting
00:08the rules of economic transformation
00:10in Central Asia.
00:11Why are global investors choosing this country
00:14and how is the government balancing
00:16growth with sustainability and inclusion?
00:19Hello and welcome to Business Line Uzbekistan.
00:22Over the past 8 years,
00:24investments attracted to Uzbekistan
00:26reached more than 111 billion euros
00:29and the gross domestic product has doubled,
00:32reaching about 100 billion euros last year.
00:35Gold and foreign exchange reserves
00:37have exceeded more than 41 billion euros.
00:40Today, 16,000 foreign-invested enterprises
00:43operate across the nation,
00:45not just injecting capital,
00:47but reshaping the economy from the ground up.
00:50The government's goal is bold
00:52to double GDP to 172 billion euros by 2030,
00:57with foreign direct investment at the heart of that strategy.
01:00From renewable energy and advanced manufacturing
01:03to IT and logistics,
01:05foreign investment is driving job creation
01:07and unlocking new industries.
01:10With clear ambitions and growing investor confidence,
01:13Uzbekistan is building a future
01:15powered by global partnerships.
01:17Here is more.
01:19In this factory,
01:20the smell of chocolate and caramel
01:22mixes with the sound of progress.
01:23Every day,
01:24200 tons of sweets are produced here,
01:27the result of a journey that began
01:29with a small operation back in 2009.
01:32This isn't just a factory,
01:47it's a part of bigger vision,
01:49a new industrial technopark called Yangi Hayat,
01:51where 10,000 jobs are planted.
01:53They are the result of growing investor confidence
01:56in Uzbekistan's economic future.
02:12According to the 2025 index of economic freedom,
02:16the country now leads the region in trade freedom.
02:20Now we see more and more interest in sectors,
02:23critical minerals, services, IT sector,
02:26finance sector and many others,
02:28which is a significant departure from the type of businesses
02:32that were interested in Uzbekistan,
02:34say nine or ten years ago.
02:35Countries like China, Saudi Arabia,
02:38Turkey are now among Uzbekistan's top investors.
02:41In Bukhara,
02:42Saudi Arabia's aqua power is building
02:44two 500 megawatt wind farms.
02:47We believe in the leadership who made things to happen
02:51and the energy transition,
02:52it was the best example today in the world.
02:55But investment isn't only about factories and infrastructure,
02:59it's about ideas.
03:00Regional players like TBC Group,
03:02a financial service company from Georgia,
03:04are backing Uzbekistan's digital future.
03:07We would invest only if it makes strategic sense
03:10for the development of the company.
03:12When we were entering Uzbekistan,
03:14a very interesting acquisition would be PayMe.
03:18If we fast forward to today,
03:20we have more than 14 million customers.
03:23From factory floors to wind farms,
03:25from local startups to global partnerships,
03:28Uzbekistan is proving that smart investment
03:31creates real impact.
03:33Joining us now is Shohrukh Gulyamov,
03:35Deputy Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade
03:38of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
03:40Mr. Gulyamov, what are the main investment goals
03:43for the country over the next 5 to 10 years,
03:46and what steps are being taken by the Ministry
03:49to reduce bureaucracy?
03:51Thank you very much for the question.
03:53Telfar, indeed, Uzbekistan,
03:55on today's day, has made very big steps.
03:57With the government of Uzbekistan,
03:59there is a task to make investments
04:02to 120 billion dollars.
04:04The question of the bureaucratia
04:05in bringing investments is a
04:08that is, in general,
04:10the government of Uzbekistan.
04:11And today we are working on the
04:14the law of investments
04:16and the law of economic freedom
04:18in the new redaction.
04:20In the 20th of August of the year,
04:22the government,
04:23in the meeting with the
04:24entrepreneurs of Uzbekistan,
04:25there were new developments in this direction.
04:27The law of investments is also
04:30for us one of the new directions.
04:33We launched the platform PMI.mit.us,
04:38in which, in real time,
04:40you can check the projects
04:42and see their status.
04:44Thank you for joining us.
