Baoma Corp. is no stranger to sending million-dollar mares through the ring at Fasig-Tipton’s Night of the Stars Sale and this year, they look to do it again with Tenma. The daughter of Nyquist won the 2024 Del Mar Debutante and was at the top of her division in California for Bob Baffert.
00:00I remember Tenma, when we first purchased her, she's a beautiful physical and she's by one of
00:22the hottest sires out there, Nyquist. When you lead her out of the stall, she looks expensive.
00:27She was everything that we thought of and the dream came true.
00:32They come down to the wire and Tenma has won it.
00:36Well, Tenma obviously is a very, very talented filly and another very talented filly that Susan and Charlie Chew have had the opportunity to race with Bob Baffert training.
00:46Not only did she compete at the highest level, she thrived at the highest level.
00:50You know, she just came along, never missed a beat, took her to Del Mar, won a race, wins the grade one debutante.
01:00She was still very green and still won and it's something that we're proud of the fact that she got up and showed that grit that you like to see in these fillies.
01:10I look back, I think she would have been right there in the Breeders' Cup, but then rendering the Starlet, ran great.
01:18Tenma continued that outstanding two-year-old form with some very, very impressive races in her three-year-old campaign earlier this year.
01:25The two greatest stakes that she won in California solidified her quality, solidified her reputation, solidified her ability in terms of she's one of the top fillies in the country.
01:36So I think that there's certainly some racing potential for a potential buyer with Tenma.
01:43We have a program with Bulma Corp, the Chews.
01:47They're not only great clients, they're great friends of mine.
01:50They love racing, they love their horses.
01:53Over the years we've sold Bast, we've sold Private Mission, we've sold EDA.
01:58They've all been extremely well-received at auction.
02:01Tenma's another example, a grade one winner by a really important sire at Nyquist,
02:08a big horse that's poised to be one of the one, two, three top sires in North America.
02:13The really interesting thing with Tenma is when you look at her broodmare sires, you look on her pedigree page,
02:18you literally have, she's out of a Taffet mare, who's out of a Galileo mare, who's out of a Stormcat mare.
02:24I mean, I think that when you look at generationally speaking, I mean, you're talking about generational talent.
02:29Tenma's pedigree is really international in nature.
02:32We have champions and grade one winners like Roly-Poly and Misty for me, Butterfly Cove,
02:39just a real Taproot Kumar pedigree.
02:42I think as good as this pedigree is, it's very, very likely to get better and get better in a significant way with, you know,
02:49graded winners all over the world.
02:51I think she'll get better with age.
02:54I wouldn't mind having her back, but grade one, Nyquist, it's a home run out of the park.
