00:06Mid-air scare for Air India flight. Emergency engine kicks in. Panic ensues.
00:11Same engine deployed seconds before June crash. This time Air India flight makes safe landing.
00:17Safe landing for Amritsar Birmingham flight. Amritsar Birmingham Air India flight makes emergency landing.
00:23That's the breaking news that we're getting. Rat engine scare in another Air India flight.
00:30But this Air India flight makes a safe landing.
00:34And there was a mid-air scare for the Air India flight. Emergency engine kicks in. Panic ensues.
00:40Same engine was deployed seconds before the June Air India flight crash.
00:46And this time the Air India flight makes a safe landing.
00:50And remember this was Amritsar Birmingham flight that has made a safe landing.
00:56My colleague Amit is now joining us with more details on this.
01:00Amit, give us more details about this mid-air scare for the Air India flight which has now made a safe landing.
01:06Anjali, breaking it down for our viewers.
01:08You know, many of these passengers who would be sitting in AI-117,
01:14which was Amritsar Birmingham flight that took off on October 4th,
01:18might not have even realized that Rat has been deployed.
01:21So what exactly is Rat? Rat is the ram air turbine which is usually deployed in case to provide emergency electrical or hydraulic power to the craft,
01:34which means that there is not enough hydraulic or electrical power that is supposed to be there in the engine.
01:41But in this particular case, what Air India is maintaining that upon landing in Birmingham when the electrical and hydraulic components of the craft was checked,
01:52all of them were working normal.
01:54But the craft has been grounded in Birmingham for further checks because deployment of Rat is an emergency measure that the craft automatically takes on.
02:05So that Rat was deployed, which means that there has to be some reason and that reason is being now zeroed down by the engineers and the air safety department's officials as well in Birmingham at this point in time.
02:18What we can tell our viewers is that this was Amritsar Birmingham flight that took off on 4th of October.
02:25And upon landing, that is when the craft was approaching for landing, Rat was deployed on that craft.
02:33Now the operator and the concerned authorities will have to find out as to why this particular deployment has been made.
02:41Because the deployment of Rat itself makes this a major development as far as the aviation ecosystem is concerned.
02:49And it is also to be noted that this is the same craft which had also, you know, as far as the model of the craft is concerned,
02:57the crash that happened in Ahmedabad was also 787 Boeing Dreamliner and this craft as well is a 787, I beg your pardon, 7878 Boeing Dreamliner craft.
03:13So essentially, that also makes it even more concerning as to whether there is a pattern that also needs to be decoded out here
03:22and a thorough investigation will be also carried out.
03:25But we can certainly tell our viewers at this point in time that Air India maintained that the craft landed safely
03:32and also upon landing when the jets were conducted, electrical and hydraulic parts, components of the craft were found to be working normal.
03:40And in that case, it becomes even more concerning as to why the deployment of Rat happened on this particular craft.
03:46Anjali.
03:47Absolutely, Amit.
03:48But in fact, this again raises a lot of questions if all the safety protocols are being followed by Air India.
03:53Right, Anjali, you know, as far as Boeing Dreamliner fleet is concerned, we had seen as to how after that infiltrated Ahmedabad's AI-171 craft, what happened.
04:08You know, the detailed investigations and inspections for Air India's Boeing Dreamliner fleet were recommended and instructed, ordered by the DGCA,
04:18which is the nodal authority in India, as far as the aviation industry is concerned, civil aviation industry is concerned.
04:24And after that, the entire fleet was found to be working normal as for the precise, you know, recommended SOPs.
04:33But at this point in time, this development again puts back the focus on the checks that are happening.
04:40And also, the engineers and the experts will actually have to zero down as to why if the electrical parts and hydraulic parts were working normal upon landing,
04:51it was found by the engineers, what Air India is claiming at this point in time.
04:56What might have triggered the deployment of RAG becomes even more a bigger question.
05:03Was there some sort of, you know, fault upon the approach, which was rectified while the approach was still being made and the craft landed in Birmingham?
05:15All of that angle will also have to be completely investigated in this matter.
05:19And because now this concerns two different countries, right, the craft operator is registered in India, that is Air India,
05:27and the craft landed in Birmingham, which means that Indian and British both authorities will be involved in this particular investigation as to what happened in there.
05:37SOPs will also kick in because this becomes a very serious matter as well as far as the international civil aviation ecosystem is concerned.
05:45Back to you.
05:46Absolutely, Amit.
05:47What could be the broader implications of such incidents being reported on the Indian airline sector?
05:53You know, what we can certainly tell our viewers is that after the AI-171 crash,
06:01a lot of safety checks and background checks have been done by the DGCA and the other authorities,
06:11including surprise checks that were conducted across several major airports in India,
06:18including Mumbai and Delhi's IGI airport.
06:20So, be it the, you know, airports, be it the runways, be it the package handling,
06:27all of them have gone through a rigorous inspection after the unfortunate disastrous crash that happened in June in Ahmedabad.
06:36And there have been a certain amount of alertness all through as far as take-offs are concerned
06:42and more so in regards to the, you know, international flights because these are the flights which are going flying off for longer haul.
06:49And recently you would have also, you know, recall as to how this particular craft was took off from,
06:56from Guzrat, one of the Guzrat's airports and landed in Mumbai.
07:01There was a sense of emergency which kicked in at the Mumbai airport,
07:06Chhatapati Sivadi, Mumbai airport.
07:09The reason being that one of the deals of that craft was found on the runway itself in the Guzrat airport from where it had taken off.
07:19So, all of that has also triggered a sense of, you know, alertness all through in the civil aviation ecosystem.
07:26And Indian authorities have been claiming that they are maintaining rigorous checks and they are on high alertness all through.
07:34But certainly incidents of this sort again call for rechecking, re-verifying as to whether the SOPs which are being claimed to be followed by the operators
07:45and the authorities, whether there are any problems in that regard as well.
07:50But again, bringing the focus back on that primary question as to why RAT was deployed in AI-117, Amrith Sir, Burbingham craft.
07:59That is a bigger concern also for Boeing engineers at this point in time because RAT usually kicks in, gets deployed only in case of emergency
08:07when there is, you know, the need to extract more hydraulic or sufficient hydraulic or electrical power for the craft.
08:17So, that angle has to be investigated thoroughly because this is a question that not only concerns India's civil aviation industry
08:24but overall Boeing Dreamliner fleet, so operators across the world would be looking at this particular development as to why this happened.
08:32Air India continues to maintain that electrical and hydraulic components of the craft were bound to be working normal.
08:38Along with this, another information that AI-114, which is Burbingham to Amrith Sir craft, has been cancelled by Air India
08:47because this particular craft was supposed to, you know, fly back to India and alternative arrangements for the same are being made
08:54so that the passengers who were supposed to fly from that particular craft could be accommodated accordingly.
09:02Back to you.
09:02All right, Amit, thank you for getting us those details.
09:06So, RAT engine scare in another Air India flight has been reported.
09:10Mid-air scare for the Air India flight.
09:12Emergency engine, which is the RAT, kicks in.
09:15Panic also ensues.
09:16Same engine was deployed seconds before the June Air India flight crash.
09:22Now, this time the Air India flight made a safe landing.
09:24The safe landing was for the Amrith Sir Burbingham flight in which this mid-air scare was reported.
09:32The Amrith Sir Burbingham Air India flight made an emergency landing.
09:36So, that's the breaking news that's coming in.
09:38RAT engine scare in another Air India flight, which made an emergency landing.
09:45It was a safe landing.
09:46And the emergency engine kicked in for the Amrith Sir Burbingham Air India flight.
09:52So, I want you guys to make a peek at the ship.
09:53All right.
09:54All right.
