The Aynsley Dunbar Retaliation – Remains To Be Heard 1970 (UK, Blues Rock)
A performance at the Amougies Festival in Belgium in October 1969 proved to be a landmark for the band. Aynsley Dunbar met Frank Zappa, who immediately suggested they pursue a completely different kind of music. While Dunbar would later join Zappa's band, the reasons for abandoning classic blues with Retaliation are quite obvious. Therefore, a rather paradoxical fact must be acknowledged. The band he borne continued to exist for some time without Aynsley, and he, in turn, headed (again, only formally) a new project, Blue Whale. But Aynsley Dunbar Retaliation still owed a contractual debt. Therefore, seizing the opportunity, Brox took the reins and organized the release of the album Remains To Be Heard. Some of the tracks on it were borrowed from the band's past, and Victor completed the remainder with acoustic blues tracks he recorded with his wife, Annette. The continued existence of "The Aynsley Dunbar Retaliation" without Aynsley remained meaningless, and so after the album's release, the project was officially closed.
