00:00People will scream at me in the streets because of my style, but this is my peak.
00:03Extreme and bold. It's been years since my dad has seen me outside of my cyber goth.
00:08I'm gonna be giving him a taste of what could have been.
00:15My name is Evania. I grew up listening to a lot of like electronic dance music.
00:20My dad's a DJ. I always grew up loving goth subculture and alternative styles
00:24in general. Having those like roots, my love for like black and white and just
00:28goth in general. And then my love for EDM just kind of put this look together.
00:31Oh my God. Hello. It's nice to see you.
00:35Oh my goodness.
00:37Kendra is my best friend. She is my, the person I go to for everything.
00:41My ride or die. If you go to her for everything, she is just like my number one.
00:45How does she dress?
00:46Honestly, the only way I could describe her outfit is colorful.
00:49You know, as much jewelry as she can, as much color as she can.
00:53Just like a big confetti bomb in my opinion. The opposite of me, truly.
00:56What are your honest thoughts about my cyber goth?
00:59I've always like loved like your look and your contacts are my favorite part.
01:03I can never get over the contacts. They're so cool.
01:06It makes you look like like a clown, but in a good way.
01:08Yes. Yes.
01:09Like it's so creepy.
01:10Yes. You get it.
01:11In the makeup.
01:13Cyber goth is a mix of goth and rave culture.
01:16And so it takes those elements of like darkness of it, futuristic, dystopian cyberpunk.
01:21How old were you when you started dressing like this?
01:23I was probably around 11. You know, it started off with like a little bit of eyeshadow smudged
01:27under my eyes and some black skinny jeans I cut myself.
01:30And then it just slowly transforms as I got older and kind of into the scene more.
01:33This is my peak. Like this is who I am and this is how I want to present myself.
01:37So like genuinely, I am honestly like curious.
01:39How do your parents feel about your style and like do they accept it?
01:43Like, you know, at first they were a little hesitant about it, especially my dad.
01:46My dad being an EDM DJ influenced my look today because essentially what got me into rave culture
01:51and just the scene in general, but then how my dad would prefer me to dress is honestly a little bit
01:56more tame. He just wanted me to be more feminine and keep it subtle and you know, nothing bold and scary.
02:04Today, I'm going to be transforming into like a different version of myself.
02:07And what I'm excited to tell you is that I'm actually taking a lot of inspo from you with all the colors
02:12and the hyper feminine and like all of that. And I'm also going to like show my parents,
02:16like they've only seen me in black and white. You know that I only wear black and white.
02:19I'll see you soon. Okay. I'll see you soon.
02:24Hello. Hello. I'm Jenny. I'm here to do your makeup.
02:27I'm Vania. Yes. Come on in.
02:28Are you ready for this makeover? Yes. I'm excited.
02:31Here we go. Okay. For this hyper feminine look, we're going to do cute flirty lashes, pink blush.
02:38You're not used to blush. No, I don't wear it. Like I like that pale like edge.
02:41Ghostly look, you know, and blush like brings life into your face. I don't do that. Okay.
02:46I have totally been judged in public because of my style.
02:49I've had people in the schools of my hallway,
02:51like chase me down and ask me a bunch of questions about how I look.
02:54And I've had people point and scream literally. Yeah. It's just absurd, but I've made my piece with it.
03:01Who are you revealing this look to? My mom, my dad, and my brother.
03:05Are they excited? Um, I hope so.
03:08My family, when I first started doing this look,
03:11they all told me I looked like predator and they were a little freaked out.
03:14And it was a little like, wow, this is really different.
03:19Does your family ask you to dress differently?
03:21I think in the event of like something formal, it's always respectful, but it's just,
03:26hey, Evan, just, just, you tone it down a little bit.
03:31We're going to use this natural tone palette on you, create your soft eye look. Here we go.
03:36How are you feeling?
03:37Excited. I don't think I've ever worked this long on my eyelid before. I usually go in with one color,
03:43so I'm very excited to see what blend you're creating.
03:46Do you normally just go in with black?
03:47Yeah, I just smudge it around.
03:50What's the reason for the transformation?
03:52I guess I want to show my family a version of their daughter and sister that they're never
03:57going to have pretty much, you know? Yeah, they've never seen like me in this way and
04:02I really want to surprise them and show them what they could have had.
04:06What do they like and they really like to see that way?
04:09Yeah, I mean, too bad for them, I guess.
04:13My family has made their peace with my look and now to be completely reverting back,
04:18it might give them like a, like, oh, this is what we could have had.
04:21We're happy we've made our peace with her, with her look, but this is what it could have been.
04:25You know what I mean?
04:26So we're going to use the Patrick Ta blush. She's seductive.
04:29We're going to apply the cream first and then the powder on top. She's blushing.
04:38I'm mortified.
04:40I feel like I look crazy. I'm blonde. Do I look natural?
04:49That's so funny.
04:52You ready for your big review?
04:54Yeah, I guess so.
04:55Three, two, one.
04:56Oh my God. Oh my God.
05:03Oh, I'm so out of my element.
05:06I don't think I look bad, but I definitely don't love it.
05:09And I don't think blonde's my color or light blue.
05:12I don't think any of it fits me.
05:14I'm happy with the makeup. I think you did a really good job with the makeup.
05:17I don't like being blonde and I don't like the color palette.
05:20I feel like it just doesn't suit me. I don't like the heels either.
05:24Do you think your family's going to like it?
05:26Um, honestly, no.
05:29What do you honestly think of everyone's cyber guy style?
05:33I do hope that this is a fun phase and she's a fun person so I don't have any problems with it.
05:39But I'd like to see a little transformation. I'm excited.
05:41She mentioned that you wanted her to dress normally and tone it down before. Is that true?
05:45It's true.
05:47For certain occasions, I guess there could be moments where I'm like, yeah, you know.
05:52I think for me, it's like, mom, you know, she's looking like a woman now. So it's like,
05:57tone it down, cover up, that kind of stuff. Because, you know, you get a little...
06:00Sometimes I'm like, okay.
06:04She's a very lively, beautiful soul. She's got a lot of talent with the stuff she does.
06:08Absolutely.
06:09But they're, you know, it's only about not always having to present that way 100% of the time.
06:23Oh my god! What?
06:27You've got to be kidding.
06:29I've been crying.
06:30Oh my word.
06:30I'm actually crying.
06:32Daughter.
06:32This is not you.
06:33My goodness.
06:35Oh my god.
06:36Wow, you look really different.
06:38Yeah.
06:38I know.
06:39The makeup, everything.
06:40Oh wow, honey. You look so beautiful.
06:42Dad, you like it?
06:44I love it. Yeah, breathtaking. Absolutely breathtaking.
06:47I like it.
06:48It's going like Static X to Jason Aldean.
06:50It's like...
06:53I mean, you're gorgeous in both looks, but we don't get to see a lot of them to appreciate
06:58all the range of your beauty.
06:59That's what I was saying.
07:00That's why I knew you would say that.
07:01Yeah.
07:01But that's what I wanted to do.
07:02I was like, they've never seen me like this.
07:04Like, I've been dressing like dark since I was like 11.
07:06I know.
07:07How small does that?
07:08I definitely did the bra.
07:09Oh my god.
07:10Do you like the hair color?
07:11It's actually kind of fire.
07:12I love the hair color.
07:13Yeah.
07:14For whatever reason, maybe the softer look or the way you feel, like that...
07:17I think it's the hair.
07:18You think I'm serious, you're really giving off.
07:19Like, hey.
07:20Like, your smile is just like, bam, right now.
07:24I'm a little insecure.
07:25I like it, but you know what?
07:26You do you.
07:27That's right.
07:28That's right.
07:28I mean, I see you for your soul, so you know.
07:30Aw.
07:31Yeah.
07:31Aw.
07:33It was really overwhelming because I'm just not used to my parents reacting that strongly
07:37to how I look anymore.
07:38You know, I'm very...
07:39They're used to my style.
07:40They're used to the way that I dress and seeing them get genuinely emotional.
07:44It was overwhelming.
07:45Like, my heart was like beating out of my chest.
07:47I didn't know what to think of it.
07:48I was completely blown away.
07:50Absolutely.
07:51I concur.
07:52All right, Dad, what about you?
07:53It's shocking.
07:55I wasn't prepared.
07:56I didn't know who my child was.
07:58Of course I didn't.
07:58You know what I mean?
07:59Like, oh my god.
07:59The million dollar smile.
08:01It's a look you've always wanted for your daughter.
08:04I don't think that's a fair question.
08:06I want my daughter to be happy with herself.
08:08I don't think I would ever tone down my cyber goth look or stop it, you know.
08:12I know they might wish that I would tone it down a little bit and they might want to see this side
08:16of me more, but at the end of the day, like, I love the way that I dress and I would never change for anybody.
08:31I don't think so.
08:33You know what I mean?
08:34You know what I mean?
08:36I don't think so.
