Amorim’s start at Manchester United

With a mixed set of results since starting at Old Trafford, we’ve taken a look at how United’s new manager has settled into the job.

00:00Let's talk about Ruben Amirim's start at Manchester United. Results have been mixed with two wins,

00:04one draw and two losses, but there has been some encouragement with a clear style of play,

00:08with three at the back, four across midfield and an attacking trio. One of the biggest criticisms

00:12of Eric Ten Haag was that it was hard to see what he wanted to do. With Amirim, it's obvious. It's

00:16the same system in every game, with two offensive players operating behind a central striker,

00:20wing-backs holding wide and the midfield tasked with winning the ball and moving it on quickly.

00:24Amirim's also used basically every available outfield player, looking at every option

00:29available to him. This isn't a squad in his mould and many players don't necessarily look up for it,

00:33so there needs to be a bit of emphasis in January on players who can run and keep the energy up

00:38throughout a game. Results have been mixed and it's kind of been what you might have expected

00:41from Ten Haag's team. It's been a fairly easy run of fixtures with Ipswich, Bottleglimpt,

00:45Everton and Forest, with Arsenal mixed in there as well, and only winning two means that there

00:50are questions. However, it is clear how good Amirim is. Since he left Sporting Lisbon,

00:54they've lost four of five games. There is optimism here in Manchester,

00:58but results are yet to be completely clear.
