00:00Hello there my dear friends and welcome back to another Star Wars video.
00:04It is I coming at you once again, your favourite Galacticostess, Star Wars Meg.
00:09And today, we have some really exciting Ahsoka updates.
00:12And we begin with official confirmation that Season 2 has wrapped filming.
00:17That's right, it's a wrap.
00:19Not it's a trap, as Admiral Ackbar would say.
00:22Ironic because he's in this season.
00:24But no, filming is done.
00:26Several cast and crew members have been celebrating on social media.
00:30Sharing photos of their wrap party.
00:32And it looks like they have a lot to celebrate.
00:34This season is going to be insane.
00:36In this picture, amongst some of the stunt team and a few others,
00:39we have Rosario Dawson, Ahsoka Tano herself,
00:43as well as Ivana Sakno, Shin Hattie, and Natasha Lyubordisso.
00:47And while principal photography has come to an end,
00:50it is worth noting that reshoots are going to go on throughout the month of October.
00:54So they're not fully, fully done.
00:56And something very exciting we've been told is one of the reshoots is going to take place in Scotland
01:01and involve Anakin's false ghost.
01:04Hayden still has more to film.
01:06And like I've been telling you guys, Anakin is a huge part of this story.
01:10Dave Filoni, with the final season of this show,
01:13wants to honour George Lucas.
01:14And wants to make The Chosen One a focal part of the mysticism of the Star Wars universe.
01:20Anakin is going to be a major part of the Peridia subplot.
01:23He's going to be used far more than you think.
01:26This isn't just a case of an occasional cameo,
01:28or an occasional four-spirit mentor to Ahsoka.
01:31We're talking about a main character in Season 2.
01:34Someone who's even going to impact the journey of Balon.
01:37And go watch my previous video for more information on that.
01:41But for now, my friends, we can celebrate that the bulk of Dave Filoni's second season
01:44has come to an end.
01:46The last officially confirmed live-action Disney Plus Star Wars show.
01:50And I'm sure Dave has quite a few surprises planned.
01:53But it's also reported that filming went much smoother than for Season 1,
01:57without any lockdowns or strikes affecting it.
02:00And that brings us on to our next update.
02:03We have some new comments about what to expect from a fan-favourite director,
02:07who confirms her involvement.
02:09Bryce Dallas Howard.
02:11It was originally rumoured that she was going to be directing one episode.
02:14But it turns out, my friends, in Ahsoka's final season, she is directing two.
02:20Episodes 4 and 5.
02:21The middle instalments.
02:23Which have traditionally been considered the best of the season.
02:26In the first, these episodes concerned Ahsoka and Anakin in the World Between Worlds.
02:31I'm not saying they're going to do the exact same thing,
02:34but Bryce's episodes never disappoint.
02:36And with her now confirming her involvement on Ahsoka,
02:40she's now worked on every Mandoverse project.
02:42The Mandalorian, Book of Boba Fett, Skeleton Crew, and now this.
02:47And in a new interview with Screen Rant at Los Angeles Comic Con,
02:50she teases what to expect, and says this.
02:54I just finished shooting two episodes this summer for Ahsoka Season 2.
02:58It's so good.
02:59It's beautiful.
03:00It's thrilling.
03:01It's adventurous.
03:02And here's a descriptor I didn't expect.
03:04She says, it's romantic.
03:07And on social media, this has generated a ton of fan speculation.
03:12Because we're wondering, why would Ahsoka Season 2 be romantic?
03:16So, in thinking about the pre-existing romances,
03:19your mind goes straight to Ezra and Sabine.
03:22But those two are literally a galaxy apart.
03:24Ezra is back home with the New Republic,
03:26whereas Sabine is stuck in the second galaxy with Ahsoka,
03:30Hu Yang, Balen, and Shin.
03:32So, who is Bryce talking about?
03:34Is it possible the rumours of a new love interest for Ezra are true?
03:39There was a report that stated Thrawn is going to send one of his spies to flirt with Ezra,
03:44only revealing her betrayal at the end.
03:47Now, while Star Wars Rebels fans won't appreciate this,
03:49when I covered it last time,
03:51there's a clear divide between those who think Ezra and Sabine are meant to be lovers,
03:55and those who assume they were just friends.
03:57They were part of the Ghost Crew, and they just see each other as siblings.
04:00Here's my take.
04:01After four seasons of Star Wars Rebels, I understand both perspectives,
04:05but after Ahsoka Season 1, I am leaning more towards a romantic dynamic.
04:10The way Sabine was obsessed and infatuated with Ezra,
04:13watching and re-watching the same hologram over and over again,
04:17putting her entire life on hold,
04:18becoming a recluse,
04:20and losing touch with her friends.
04:22Sabine was absolutely in love with him,
04:24and the glow in her eyes when they were finally reunited.
04:27That was not the look of being reunited with a long-lost friend.
04:32It was deeper.
04:34It's not the same look Hera gave him.
04:36But just like any piece of art, this is subjective.
04:39Different viewers are going to have different takes on it.
04:41But to my mind, it was romantic.
04:44What if she's talking about flashbacks?
04:46What if it's Anakin's ghost,
04:48reminiscing about Padme?
04:49What if the rumours of Natalie Portman's involvement are true?
04:54Then there are Star Wars fans who are shippers,
04:56who love putting two characters together
04:57who are unconfirmed romantic interests.
05:01But because Bryce's comments were the big news of the day,
05:04it attracted Star Wars fans who weren't afraid to say
05:06that they really don't care,
05:08and they don't believe Dave can pull any of this off.
05:11Everything Bryce described Season 2 as
05:13beautiful, thrilling, adventurous, romantic.
05:16She finishes by saying it's everything you want from this story.
05:19There's a huge contingent of fans
05:21who've turned their back on Filoni.
05:23Those who say he's a fraud,
05:24he's overrated,
05:26he's bad as a live-action writer,
05:28and he should just stick to animation.
05:30Now here's the thing.
05:31I've certainly had my faith in Filoni shaken.
05:34I still have more faith in him than most,
05:35but I don't think everything he does is perfect,
05:39and I started to see the cracks in the last few years.
05:42He is George Lucas's protégé,
05:44however, I don't agree with every decision he makes,
05:47and he's not above putting out duds.
05:49And he's been placed on this pedestal where fans think,
05:52Well, surely Filoni has a plan.
05:54He knows where he's going,
05:55he's got one direction,
05:56and he always nails it.
05:58I disagree.
05:59Dave is prone to write himself into corners.
06:02I love the Clone Wars,
06:03I love Star Wars Rebels,
06:05much of Ahsoka was good,
06:06but even as a fan of the first season,
06:09I have to admit,
06:10he's uneven.
06:11There's lots I can say about his writing,
06:13about the character of Ahsoka,
06:15in her own show,
06:16but one of my biggest gripes,
06:17and something which is going to connect to season two,
06:20is Filoni using Force mysticism as a crutch.
06:24The world between worlds,
06:25Mori,
06:26Mortis,
06:27all fascinating concepts,
06:29always used,
06:30always teased,
06:31but never explained.
06:33We still don't know anything,
06:35about the ultimate significance of the Mortis gods.
06:38We know a little bit about,
06:39why they matter to the galaxy,
06:41how they relate to balance in the Force,
06:43how they relate to Anakin's journey,
06:45in the Clone Wars,
06:46but Dave Filoni,
06:47always alluded to a greater purpose,
06:49that we were going to learn someday.
06:51They were teased again in Rebels,
06:52and then long after their death,
06:54they appear as statues on Peridia.
06:56And so in response,
06:58some fans have said,
06:59we just need to give Dave time.
07:01He is getting to it,
07:02we just have to be patient.
07:04But I'll be honest with you,
07:05I don't know,
07:06if Dave knew,
07:08where he was going when he ended season one.
07:10I think a lot of the time he writes as he goes along.
07:13And yes,
07:13I acknowledge even George Lucas did this,
07:16but I think we need to stop assuming,
07:17Dave always has a perfect plan.
07:20That doesn't mean I don't trust him.
07:22I fully believe in his abilities to write a great story,
07:25and I'm so excited for Ahsoka season two.
07:28So on one hand,
07:29we need to stop assuming,
07:30he is this great savior of Star Wars,
07:32and also we need to stop assuming,
07:34he's committed the worst sins,
07:35in Star Wars.
07:37But going back to the main topic,
07:38when it comes to Bryce,
07:40her episodes are the ones I look forward to the most.
07:43And so finally my friends,
07:45moving on to our final Ahsoka topic.
07:48We have another crazy world rumor,
07:50which has re-emerged about Balan.
07:53Apparently in the first part of season two,
07:55in the first three episodes,
07:57Balan is searching for a certain source of power.
08:00That's the way it's been described.
08:01And when you talk about a font of power,
08:04I immediately think of Abeloth.
08:06Font of power,
08:07pool of knowledge,
08:08that kind of terminology,
08:09that is very Mortis-esque,
08:11and very much relating to the mother.
08:13And they say Mortis will be present in the same galaxy,
08:17that Peridia is in.
08:18But here is the most important part.
08:20To access it,
08:22Balan uses ancient Zeffo secrets.
08:25Hidden technology present,
08:27on Peridia.
08:28And as we know my friends,
08:30there were giant Sith robots,
08:31in the concept art,
08:32as well as writing,
08:33that alluded to the Zeffo sages,
08:35in the first season.
08:37So they're mixing different,
08:38ancient traditions.
08:40The Mortis deities,
08:41the Ones,
08:42and the Zeffo.
08:43Very exciting.
08:44Everything.
