00:00Hello and welcome to this Victorian James weather update for Friday.
00:04We have got the remains of a cold outbreak that is crossing the southeast.
00:07Most of that chilly air has now moved out to the east and we've got the cloud and just these lighter showers that are left over.
00:13Lots at the coast today, not much further inland, just really making it into the northwest, nothing really into a rain gauge.
00:20So we've got that, but things are about to change as you go across the weekend.
00:24Here's the remains for Friday, so really it doesn't add up to very much today.
00:27And the high pressure system is here over northwestern Victoria by the end of the day.
00:33That changes our fortunes as soon as that moves over to the east, which is on Saturday.
00:38Clear skies, well not clear skies, we've got some high cloud that's moving in through there, but warmer air.
00:43You can start to see a red one that is coming down in through there.
00:46Let's watch that into Sunday.
00:47But this is northwesterly winds and it's our first surge of proper heat coming through.
00:52That is Saturday.
00:53Here we have Sunday.
00:54Now there is the heat that comes down.
00:56There is a cool change.
00:58It is here by the end of Sunday.
01:00So it's moved through Melbourne, it's moved across much of the state by the very end of Sunday.
01:05It's the very end of Sunday that that moves through and here is the next band of rain.
01:09So this one, if we're in Melbourne, won't be affecting it during the day.
01:12It comes in later at night.
01:14Let's watch that band of rain.
01:15It has a lovely source of tropical moisture, but most of that is going to fall in western Australia
01:20and western parts of South Australia.
01:22And we get the remains of that as it comes through.
01:24So that's Sunday.
01:25Now let's head into Monday.
01:27There it goes.
01:28It really does weaken as it moves across the northwest.
01:30It's running out of oomph.
01:31Here's the next cold outbreak.
01:33Cold, not as much.
01:35The snowy stuff is right down in through here.
01:37We're not going to see that here.
01:38Just a change in the air.
01:40And if there is cloud left over, then yes, in southern Victoria, we'll be feeling quite chilly.
01:44So that's on Monday.
01:45Let's now move into Tuesday.
01:46The rain band is up in here in New South Wales.
01:48We're taking a bit of a break into Wednesday.
01:51Here's the next cold outbreak that is entering over from the west in through here.
01:55So that's Wednesday into Thursday as that one moves through.
01:59And by Friday, we might be seeing the next one move up, which might be for next weekend.
02:04So Wednesday into Thursday is likely to be the next wet weather.
02:07After that, late Sunday into early Monday comes through.
02:10What does that add up to?
02:11If you're at the southwest coast, 15 to 25, 10 to 15, hardly anything as you move further inland on the ranges.
02:17Yes, go to see some in western parts of Gippsland and then a little bit spilling over into the east.
02:24So for Melbourne, what can we expect?
02:25We've got cloudy skies as we move through Friday starting to break up later.
02:29There's very light patchy drizzle that comes through as well.
02:32All of that is cleared by later on because we've got that high pressure system moving in.
02:36So about 18.
02:37Let's watch these temperatures.
02:38Hello, 26, hello, 28 or 29.
02:41So really warming up as we move across the weekend, including the overnight temperatures.
02:46So a cool start on Saturday, not a cool start as we go into Sunday.
02:50Let's have a look at the timing of this.
02:52I'll expand Sunday here.
02:53During the day, we are warm all the way through.
02:57The southwesterly change isn't until late at night and the wet weather doesn't hit until close to midnight.
03:03So Sunday during the day is completely dry.
03:06We've got a northly wind that picks up.
03:07Let's have a look at the timing of that.
03:09As we move into Monday, that's when the rain is.
03:11And what do you know?
03:12It's all gone by dawn.
03:14So it's an overnight thing starting around midnight and easing by dawn on Monday.
03:18But we'll suddenly feel the temperatures as we move through the day on Monday.
03:22So near 30 degrees and then about half that as we move across Monday.
03:26It warms up again for Tuesday until Wednesday ahead of that next change.
03:29That comes in later Wednesday and drops temperatures not as cold as it has been, certainly not the 16 that we're seeing on Monday.
03:35And again, that's a late Wednesday into Thursday type thing.
03:39As always, head to it, farm online weather for the latest.
