The Family Mcmullen Movie Trailer HD - Plot synopsis: Thirty years after Edward Burns’ The Brothers McMullen wowed audiences with its exploration of the lives and struggles of three Irish American brothers from New York, the family returns in the long-awaited follow-up, The Family McMullen.

As with the original, The Family McMullen is an ensemble comedy written and directed by Burns. The new film tracks the romantic entanglements of a now 50something Barry McMullen (Burns) and his 20something kids, as well as his brother Patrick (Michael McGlone) and widowed sister-in-law Molly (Connie Britton), who are also facing unexpected romantic hurdles.

In addition to multiple EMMY and Golden Globe Award-nominated actress Britton (Friday Night Lights, American Horror Story, The White Lotus) Burns (Saving Private Ryan, The Holiday) and McGlone (She’s the One, The Bone Collector) each reprising their roles from the first film, the film also stars EMMY and SAG Award nominee and Golden Globes winner Tracee Ellis Ross (American Fiction, Black-ish), Halston Sage (X-Men: Dark Phoenix, Prodigal Son), SAG Award winner Juliana Canfield (Succession), Pico Alexander (Home Again, Gossip Girl), and SAG Award winner Brian d’Arcy James (Spotlight).

The film’s producers are Ellen H. Schwartz, Aaron Lubin and Burns, and the executive producer is Claudine Marrotte. Joining Burns behind the camera are director of photography William Rexer, production designer Sam Bader, editor Janet Gaynor, and composer Séamus Egan.

Warner Bros. Pictures Presents A Marlboro Road Gang Production, The Family McMullen, in theaters October 15, 2025 only, from Warner Bros. Pictures via Fathom Entertainment.

00:01There are no half-measures in love, Terrence Joseph.
00:04And I don't do trial separations.
00:09Dad, he is such a jerk.
00:11The wedding's off.
00:12I did have my concerns.
00:13I think this is for the best.
00:14Given the suitcases, is it safe to assume that, like your brother,
00:18you two are moving back home?
00:20Wait, what do you mean, like my brother?
00:21I quit my job, so I'm gonna stay with Dad for a bit.
00:24Just when I thought tonight couldn't get any worse.
00:26How about that?
00:27I got my brother and my two babies back home with Papa.
00:29Welcome home, kids.
00:32I have always been eternally grateful that I get to be a part of this family.
00:38If we're gonna be living here together, we should try to get along.
00:40Get out!
00:41Uh-oh.
00:42Sounds like they're off to a good start.
00:46The sounds of sibling rivalry warms your heart, doesn't it?
00:49I've actually never been in love.
00:51Yeah, I have yet to experience that special feeling.
00:53To the cold-hearted.
00:54May we never buy into the fallacy of true love.
00:56I just had the best date of my life.
00:59The love struck is an affliction many a McMullen has suffered from.
01:04Dad?
01:05We got a problem.
01:06Do you know what that is up there?
01:07A really handsome, super nice, charming guy.
01:10He was the first boy I ever kissed.
01:12So, uh, what's the problem?
01:13I threw up on him.
01:14That's a problem.
01:16I am glad we didn't miss out on this extraordinary experience.
01:19Extraordinary?
01:20I don't think we've gotten to that part yet.
01:22We're going out to dinner.
01:23That's it.
01:24But you can't stand him up.
01:26Especially if he's a nice guy.
01:27He is.
01:28We love nice!
01:29Not too nice though, you know what I mean?
01:31My mother said you might be related to this guy that she used to date.
01:34Dad, you dated her mother.
01:36I didn't date him.
01:37We were friends.
01:38Friends?
01:39You were friends who got naked together and went...
01:41Okay, I'm walking away.
01:43Families aren't perfect.
01:46And this one is no exception.
01:49But I think we're doing pretty great.
01:52Approaching.
01:54Extraordinary.
01:59You have a really nice smile when you laugh.
02:01Walter, are you hitting on me?
02:03I bought this house in the home and I could create a second home for all of us.
02:08And based on tonight, I'd say I succeeded.
02:11And it's just me.
02:13All alone in this big, empty house.
02:16And we have to control ourselves.
02:18It's gonna take a lot of discipline on my part, but...
02:20I'm wearing leopard.
02:21Killing me.
02:22You were right there all alone.
