00:00And based on what we know, counter-terrorism policing has declared this as a terrorist incident.
00:08Our specialist teams are now leading the investigation into what happened at Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue
00:14and working closely with Greater Manchester Police.
00:17As we do this, those who have been killed and injured are at the forefront of our minds.
00:23At Counter-Terrorism Police, we're deploying all of our capabilities in response to what has happened.
00:29And we have resources from across our network involved.
00:33We will ensure every piece of intelligence and line of inquiry is interrogated.
00:39I can confirm that two other individuals have been arrested in connection with this incident
00:47and urgent inquiries are ongoing.
00:51We can confirm that two members of our Jewish community have sadly died as a result of this attack.
01:02Following a rapid response, armed officers from Greater Manchester Police intercepted the offender
01:09and he was fatally shot by officers within seven minutes of the original call.
01:17Four further people remain in hospital, having suffered a variety of serious injuries,
01:25and their treatment is ongoing and our thoughts are with them and their families.
01:33At this time, we know that a car was driven directly at members of the public outside the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue
01:43on Middleton Road, Crumsell in Manchester.
01:48The driver of the car was seen then to attack people with a knife.
01:54He was wearing about his body a vest which had the appearance of an explosive device.
02:02There were a large number of worshippers attending the synagogue at the time of this attack.
02:08But thanks to the immediate bravery of security staff and the worshippers inside,
02:15as well as the fast response of the police, the attacker was prevented from gaining access.
02:23All those inside were safely contained until police were able to confirm that it was safe to leave the premises.
