00:01Previously...
00:02You can't start to deck until the rest of us have our subframes built.
00:07The knives came out at a body corporate meeting.
00:10It's not a personal attack.
00:11It doesn't feel like that when you're saying really snide comments.
00:14Our friends wouldn't do this to us.
00:17Tonight, there's plenty to distract them from the drama on sight.
00:21Hannah can rock up with this thing that looks like it's bought from a bakery.
00:25I'm like, ah, might as well go home now then.
00:28There's the baking challenge.
00:29The winner is...
00:31There's a vow renewal.
00:33Are we ready to have a wedding?
00:35Hopefully he shows off actually.
00:37It's been a bit of a turbulent ten weeks.
00:43And there's the visit they've all been waiting for.
00:51Everything just went out the window.
00:53Didn't care about anything.
00:54Yeah.
00:55How are you feeling for today?
01:13Yeah, I'm already emotional today.
01:15I know.
01:16I'm not going to cry.
01:17You're going to make me cry.
01:18I know.
01:19Oh, I'm excited.
01:20It's going to be a good day.
01:21It's going to be a good day.
01:23After a welcome distraction of a bucks and hens night for Sunny and Alicia and family dinner
01:28for Emma and Ben, today it's back to reality with just four short days until revealed.
01:35This week we are doing Alfresco Terrace and the Stratco Shed.
01:39We've got a lot happening today.
01:41We've got all the Stratco boys here.
01:43Putting the roof on.
01:44Putting the roof on.
01:45We've got our builders put in the steps, the frames for the steps.
01:48The benefit of our house is we've got the elevation and the great view and came up with an idea
01:57to have three tiers of landings that would get the need to put any balustrading up.
02:03We're hopeful that Al can do it this week but it might be a bit charming.
02:07The stairs and landings are considered part of House 1's backyard so they won't be judged
02:12until backyard week.
02:14And because it's all tied in with the Alfresco Terrace, Emma and Ben are hoping to wow the
02:19judges with a full reveal this week.
02:22We need a considerable sum of money for the decks.
02:26I think it's going to be quite grand but I think the money can blow out pretty quickly
02:30with what it's going to be.
02:32Money shouldn't be an issue this week.
02:34On Monday, all teams received an additional 50 grand thanks to Combank Yellow Week.
02:40So I'm expecting to see some bougie Alfresco areas come Sunday.
02:45I am really excited about the terrace because it's going to be an extension of the living
02:50dining and an entertaining space.
02:52It will feature an outdoor kitchen, pizza oven, barbecue, fridge and sink.
02:57They've divided the Stratco shed in two, one hard tool shed and the other a golf simulator.
03:03We've also got our landscaper starting today.
03:07How are you?
03:08And how are you going?
03:09Good.
03:10That's good.
03:11Oh, family hug.
03:12It may be Colin Hyatt's first job on the block but this innovative landscape designer has
03:21over 20 years experience.
03:23He's widely renowned for his use of drought tolerant plants and his stunning designs are described
03:29as living artworks.
03:30To have trades on the Stratco shed, the Alfresco as well as landscaping and then for Ben and I
03:39to potentially be out all day, it's pretty full on.
03:45Any time you're away from site, it's a lot because you're constantly thinking about what's
03:49happening back here.
03:52So there's going to be pizza?
03:55Yeah.
03:56Then we've got to work out exactly where that barbecue sits and the cut out for that.
03:59Yeah.
04:00Then there's fridge, then there'll be a drop in for the sink and then the curve.
04:05Yeah.
04:06So Alfresco area, we have a pizza oven, an ENS barbecue and then we have a sink on the
04:11very end.
04:12And a bar fridge.
04:13Yep.
04:14And a bar fridge.
04:15Most of the work this week at House 4 is going into the Alfresco terrace.
04:20They're keeping things simple in the Stratco shed with plenty of storage space for tools
04:25and a work area.
04:26If the boys finish, I think we're all playing for second place because you can't compete
04:30with a $100,000 wine sour.
04:33Just on site today, we've probably got about eight chippies, eight landscapers, three electricians.
04:43Four plasterers.
04:44Four plasterers.
04:45You know, there's so many people with so many moving parts.
04:52The boys have just four days left to complete their big game changer, the wine cellar.
04:57It will be accessed from the hall inside the house, but sit under their terrace.
05:02Above, on the deck, they'll have an outdoor kitchen, dining and lounge area.
05:09All our gym equipment's arriving this morning and the room's not quite ready for it to be
05:14installed, so we need to quickly get a second coat of paint on first thing.
05:17So we're turning our Stratco shed into half garden shed tool workshop and then we're changing
05:25the other half into a fully stacked, floated gym.
05:29We're riddled with anxiety because we know how much work we've got to do and we're about
05:32to be pulled off site for a challenge.
05:34So we've given everyone the rundown and we're very lucky that our building team, Winstar,
05:40are insanely good.
05:41And they're like, we got this guys.
05:43Don't stress.
05:44Hopefully they'll smash it at them and 90% of the deck will be done today.
05:51Yeah, so lots happening.
05:53We had new invoices come in last night and they were staggeringly high.
05:59Surprise invoices, which are never fun.
06:01Their lack of funds hasn't stopped Hand making big plans for their Stratco shed this week.
06:10Like most of the houses, theirs will be split in two.
06:13The front half is going to be sort of like an art studio, plant nursery type vibe.
06:19So we're going to have pink swans on the door to divide that through the sort of workshop site.
06:26No expense will be spared on their terrace either.
06:29A built-in barbecue will accompany their alfresco dining area and an outdoor lounge will complete
06:35the entertaining space.
06:37I would be worried this point if it wasn't CommBank Yellow Week.
06:41I'd be very worried.
06:43So thank you CommBank.
06:45With CommBank, I can.
06:50In House 3, it's all systems go on Britt and Taz's outdoor kitchen.
06:56We wanted to have like a full, pretty much servicing outdoor kitchen.
07:00So we want to have barbecue, a pizza oven and a teppanyaki grill.
07:06And around the teppanyaki you're going to have some chairs so everyone can sit.
07:09As we said before, our outdoor kitchen's bigger than some other people's kitchen's kitchens.
07:13Britt and Taz are taking on the boys' wine cellar this week by turning half their Stratco shed into a speakeasy wine bar.
07:20The other half will remain a tool shed.
07:23You feel at this point you're like, fuck, are we going to get it done?
07:26Like it just seems like a lot.
07:28Relying on all our trades.
07:29We do a lot of that.
07:30Yeah.
07:31We've got good trades.
07:32We're going to leave at 9 o'clock.
07:33Oh, you've got to leave at 9 o'clock.
07:34We're going to leave at 9 o'clock for I think a couple of hours, the challenge.
07:37Yep.
07:38But easy.
07:39Easy.
07:40There's 10 grand up for grabs this morning with the Arnott's Baking Challenge I announced yesterday.
07:47Your mission is to create a tasty treat that heroes the Aussie icon, the Arnott's Baking.
07:55The winner will take home 10,000 bucks.
07:58Holy door.
07:59Wow.
08:00Oh my God, look at that.
08:02Like it stayed together.
08:04This was a disaster yesterday, it actually was.
08:07But it's coming together nicely.
08:10That's sick.
08:13I'm so terrified that the Tim Turner's obviously going to collapse.
08:18Need to drop that down.
08:21We're definitely not straight.
08:25She does look a bit rough, but she's going to be amazing.
08:30It's a bit fancier than our oven.
08:3320 minutes.
08:34We'll see how it goes.
08:36Nice.
08:37Can you tell me where we're going?
08:39Mate, I don't know.
08:40Passing clouds winery.
08:41I don't know where to go.
08:42Well, why don't you just put your phone in?
08:43Oh, because I can't.
08:44Because I'm driving.
08:45I'm holding a cake.
08:46Just do one thing.
08:47What's wrong with your right hand?
08:48I need to hold it.
08:49With two hands?
08:50Just don't be a dickhead for once.
08:52Well, I can't use my phone while I'm driving because I'm responsible.
08:54You're not even driving.
08:55Yeah, you're not even.
08:56You're not even.
08:57It was just the most beautiful scenic drive.
09:01It's gorgeous.
09:02Stunning.
09:03Not really driven out this way.
09:05Not either.
09:06Oh, look at that place.
09:07Oh, Hannah.
09:08What?
09:09F*** me.
09:10Do not hit the brakes like that.
09:11It's incredibly hard.
09:12We're trying to build a house.
09:13We're trying to stay on budget.
09:14And then we're having to bake a cake to earn ten grand.
09:15But the way I wrap my head around it is this cake is worth as much effort as that alfresco
09:18and Straco's shed combined.
09:19Go, Hannah.
09:20Stop breaking.
09:21I can't.
09:22Just drive gently, please.
09:23I can't.
09:24I can't.
09:25Just drive gently, please.
09:26I can't.
09:27I can't.
09:28I can't.
09:29Just drive gently, please.
09:30I can't.
09:31I can't.
09:32I can't.
09:33I can't.
09:34I can't.
09:35I can't.
09:36I can't.
09:37I can't.
09:38I can't.
09:39Just drive gently, please.
09:40Oh, gosh.
09:41You can go back to your box party.
09:47We arrive at the Passing Clouds winery, and it's beautiful.
09:54So we took in our cakes to the Country Women's Association.
09:59There were three ladies there who were going to be our judges.
10:03They look like...
10:04Anyone seen our judge a cake?
10:05They're the women for it.
10:07Can and can rock up with this thing that looks like it's bought from a bakery.
10:12And I'm like, ah, might as well go home now then.
10:15And then you see Maddie's cake, and you're like, ah, far out.
10:19I could never stand a chance here.
10:20Here's my little poo nuggets that I've made that look terrible, but they taste nice.
10:26God dab it.
10:27Am I too late?
10:28I know the CWA is very strict with timing, but I've made a chocolate ripple cape that
10:35my Nan used to make me every year on my birthday.
10:38Well, I'm sorry the entries have closed.
10:40No, they haven't, have they?
10:41They may look sweet, but our judges from the CWA call it like they see it.
10:46And they have the baking cred to back it up.
10:49Lorraine Costello has won countless local and state competitions with her passion fruit sponges.
10:55Charlotte Front has racked up the ribbons for her fruitcakes, puddings and slices.
11:00And Peter Hayne isn't just a champion for her scones and muffins, she's also a multiple cookery aggregate winner.
11:08This is house one, and it's a mango tango cheesecake.
11:18I think our chances of winning are very slim.
11:21Baking is not one of our skill sets.
11:24It tastes really nice.
11:25The base is very even.
11:26The base is really nice.
11:27And, um...
11:28Creamy.
11:29Nicely placed mangoes.
11:30Nice lot of coconut.
11:31Well done.
11:32Beautiful.
11:33Layers of love is from house two.
11:34I put everything I had into getting that cake perfect.
11:49Presentation's really good.
11:50They've done a really good job.
11:51Certainly a beautiful birthday cake for somebody.
11:54Yes.
11:55At a ten or twelve year old kid's birthday party, I'd be a hit.
12:02I'd be called the Cheesecake Shop.
12:12It's very sweet.
12:13You wouldn't want a lot of it.
12:16Charlotte's finishing hers.
12:18You've eaten a lot.
12:19I've always been told to clean the plate.
12:24Alright, house three.
12:25What have we got there?
12:26Next one.
12:29I had high hopes for us.
12:30I was like, I've tasted it.
12:33This is going to blow their mind.
12:36Mmm.
12:37It's not too sweet.
12:38And they're very even.
12:39Nice cinnamon toast.
12:40Yep.
12:41It's very even.
12:42It's been...
12:43Showcase's Tim Tams.
12:44Whoever's baked that's done a good job.
12:46Mmm.
12:47Okay.
12:48Okay.
12:49Two to go.
12:53Mine took eight minutes to make.
12:55Wow Miss Simplicity.
12:57Said no one ever.
12:59Um.
13:00To me, a lemon slice doesn't take much talent.
13:05Doesn't take much talent.
13:06I like that stuff.
13:07Well I mean, it's just broken biscuits with condensed milk and lemon juice.
13:12Okay, the last one.
13:13House five.
13:14It's a baked lemon cheesecake.
13:16Matt has blown my socks off with this cheesecake.
13:21It looks magnificent.
13:23It looks a little bit on the soft side.
13:28It's a good biscuit base.
13:31And it's full of flavour.
13:32Absolutely.
13:33Full of lemon flavour.
13:34It's not overpowering.
13:35No, it's lovely.
13:36Well girls, I tell you what I'm going to do.
13:38Yep.
13:39I'm going to leave you.
13:40Oh, I know.
13:41And you can...
13:42Yeah, sorry.
13:43And we can deliberate.
13:44Okay.
13:45Okay.
13:46Alright, thank you very much.
13:48Thanks for your help.
13:49Thanks Scotty.
13:50Bye.
13:51Lorraine and her lovely friends from the CWA look very intimidating and they know...
13:57They would know cakes.
13:58Yep.
13:59You think they are going to be some harsh critics?
14:02I think we're just like...
14:03I know we've been rinsed before by judges, but this is...
14:05This is going to probably hit more personal actually, to be fair.
14:09Well ladies, we have a winner.
14:11We all agree.
14:12Yes, we all agree.
14:13I totally agree.
14:14We all agree with that.
14:15Mm-hmm.
14:16Not much scares me, but these ladies mean business.
14:20Oh yeah.
14:21Yeah.
14:22Guys, can we give a big round of applause for our magnificent CWA women?
14:38It's Lorraine, Charlotte and Peter.
14:40Yay!
14:42Now, the girls went through some incredible judging.
14:44They tasted everybody's cake twice.
14:46They looked at the texture.
14:48They looked at the presentation as well.
14:50I'm going to hand over to Lorraine, who is a state recognised CWA judge.
14:55Lorraine, who is your winner today?
14:58To the whole lot of you.
14:59To the whole lot of you, you've done an excellent job and you are a credit to Arnott's Biscuits.
15:05And I would like to say the winner is the smashed Tim Tam donut.
15:13Yeah!
15:14Yeah!
15:15Oh!
15:16Amazing!
15:17Oh!
15:18Yes!
15:19That's us!
15:20Oh, so good!
15:22Thank you so much, Lorraine.
15:23Thanks, girls.
15:24Appreciate it.
15:25They gave it a new name.
15:26Who cares?
15:27They loved it.
15:28I'll take it.
15:29Whatever you want to call them.
15:30It's a donut.
15:31It's a scroll.
15:32It doesn't matter.
15:33Here you go.
15:34I'll get that one.
15:35Big, big ears.
15:36It's in there somewhere.
15:37Ten grand from Arnott's.
15:38Thanks, Arnott's.
15:39Congratulations.
15:40Thanks, Arnott's.
15:41Another round of applause for the magnificent CWA.
15:43We love them.
15:44They've done such great work over centuries in Australia.
15:47Congratulations for being here.
15:50Alrighty.
15:56Thank you, Mr.
15:57Thank you, Miss.
15:58That's the earth.
15:59Oh, this is the train coming.
16:01Like get on with it.
16:03Hurry up.
16:04We've got to get back to sight.
16:05Like, cause obviously we had to keep going.
16:06We're doing what we're doing, but we've had to wait for the train to come.
16:16I saw some heads popping out and then straight away it was like.
16:22That's our family.
16:24Has to be our family.
16:25I started crying before I even saw anyone in the carriages
16:55As soon as I see Kola's face coming off I've gone he started to cry then I saw Aria crying
17:20because we were crying and then boss was there and then mother everyone's crying
17:24my best mate yeah what a moment we see our kids
17:39everything just went out the window didn't care about anything yeah didn't care about
17:55how this week was didn't care about you know how much work we had to do because we saw our
18:00little boy and our little girl just the people that we needed to see at that time are we proud of daddy
18:10yeah I just started crying I was so emotional and it just kind of bubbled up out of nowhere and yeah it
18:28oh it was just such a amazing feeling to see them in after all this time
18:34you know leaving my partner in Brooks that you know he was four and a half months old when I left him
18:42and now he's seven months old and I've missed a lot and it's such an important time as a parent and
18:50seeing his little face nothing else on planet earth mattered not one thing it was great to see him
18:58it was great to see Alyssa it was great to see the smile on your face
19:02I felt sick I felt giddy I felt excited it means everything to have them in front of us just to hug them
19:23it was great it was pretty emotional we were lucky enough to see our families last night and have a
19:33big dinner with them but for our neighbors to see their families like they're kids that they haven't
19:42seen for 10 weeks I was getting emotional just watching them yeah right this is my incredible family
19:50my beautiful parents Tish and Lisa and my sister Jess and my nephew Harvey I love these people so much
20:00no words we were really proud of him yeah it's amazing and I've really struggled the last three
20:05weeks with trying to present rooms and and the feedback and seeing these guys seeing our family
20:11seeing my son seeing my girlfriend it was all we needed it's been 70 days and yeah I can't believe it I'm
20:19still in shock and I'm so happy to have this little guy in my arms right now I think it's just what we needed I
20:25think we've got mum and Brit's mum Kelly and Danny we've got our little girl Mila we've got Carter boy our boy
20:34and then we've got Brit's brother and sister Will and Savannah so the whole family say hello hello
20:40I think that's the biggest thing is seeing how much they've grown is like it's a lot of development that you miss a lot of
20:46a lot of milestones and there's so many face times you can do but yeah it's not the same for them yeah or us
20:53we wouldn't have this opportunity without mum and Kelly like they've taken the lion chair of looking after our kids
21:00and it's not easy taking care of a four and two year old so we can't thank them enough for everything they've done for us on this journey as well
21:06it does reinforce everything that we've given up and why we're here and why we're working so hard
21:11we have both of our families here starting with Brandon which is Candace's brother with our little nephew Ollie
21:17mother-in-law Deb to me but Candace's mum Tim my dad Lee Helen my mum obviously this crazy idiot here we know this one
21:28but Alex which is Candace's cousin and then Bianca my best friend it's like the biggest most special
21:34surprise of the whole block season seeing them come here and make the trip specially you know putting
21:40off work and and coming all the way over to Dale's room from WA means the world oh it's the best thing
21:46ever but like I wish they could stay
21:56this day is the one that we've been waiting for the most I think since we've started and it's just
22:02so good to see the kids in our best mates this morning it's just mum and dad and mum and dad yeah
22:08sorry mum and dad they're the whole they're the whole reason why we're allowed to be here sorry
22:13like we've had some good times on the block but nothing beats seeing those kids run out and given
22:19a big cuddle like it was that's a that's the best feeling I've had on the block I really like seeing
22:25them today because I haven't seen them for a real long time and I miss them we miss you too yeah I'm
22:33really really proud of them and we think about them every second of every day yeah I just feel guilty for
22:39leaving for so long because you know it is such a long time that we have been here this is the
22:45hardest thing we've ever done but it's been such a great very rewarding yeah and so you sort of feel
22:52bad for the kids because we have enjoyed we have some news for you guys sorry mum and dad we're going to get
23:06married again today while you guys are here with us so you guys can be a part of it yeah you can come
23:11to the party what do you reckon our first wedding um Aria and Boston were born Cole was not and he quite
23:18often looks at the wedding photos and asks why wasn't he invited to the party so we always wanted
23:23to do this again for him so he could feel included in that special day and make some memories as a family
23:29you know five you can finally come to the party is that good yes this will be an everlasting love this
23:43will be the one I've waited how do we feel about this afternoon um I finally get to see it now yeah
23:50so you're going to be happy yeah are you saying they know they know why do you still believe she

30:08even when she is clicking out
30:10I do
30:12we argue

33:46I had a moment outside where I spoke to Alicia and I said congrats and we spoke
33:51about how nice it was to have both our families here and how important that was
33:55and it does it does bring back to reality of like you know why everyone's
33:58here thank you I think the ice melted a little bit like again you know they're
34:07here for their kids we're here for ours so everything will just slip to the
34:11sidelines and they're probably feeling the same as well
34:23ladies and gentlemen raise your glasses please to sunny and Leesh another 20 30 40
34:30years together I need to just touch on very quickly your budget because I'm very
34:41concerned
34:57all the teams were off site for most of the day yesterday work continued on their
35:02alfresco terraces and Stratco sheds this morning we come back to the block and we
35:08have moved with McCafe welcome contestants welcome families to your morning yoga I'm
35:15like yes finally something that I feel like I'm half decent at allow yourself to
35:23take a deep belly breath but then we start to hear some little noises
35:27we are going to be moving with some beautiful animals we're doing goat yoga
35:40I don't like yoga at the best time but yoga with baby goats and chickens stop it every day of the week sold
35:53it was fun crooks loved it he got to see some goats and I'm pretty sure leash kidnapped one
36:07we're not doing very good yoga yoga went out the window we're all about the goats
36:13I'll just lost and Carter just lost their mind when I saw the guys
36:21yeah it's something we'll look back on really really really nice moment two more like that
36:33exhale elbows down arch your back it was very difficult to stay present I was not I know I was
36:39doing yoga no chakras were alive that was our last move with McCafe I hope you all enjoyed it like I
36:53did there's a good series that was a fun one today now you've all seen the leaderboard two houses did
37:00really well you came to everyone you guys get an extra special breakfast this morning thanks to
37:06the cafe so there you go take it take it take it and there you go guys
37:27we'll take that for Friday morning two and a half thousand just for going to moves with McCafe like
37:32it was fun and we got money for it two and a half thousand dollars richer fabulous very needed because
37:39we're about 30 grand over this week here is Shelly cry Michelle meet Joel from Combank lovely to meet
37:50you too am I right in saying that it's combat yellow week this week hence yellow hobbies happy days Joel is
37:58all about home energy efficiency as we all as we all are and he's gonna go around today with us on
38:03walk arounds and we're gonna pick the person that has best created home energy efficiency and he's
38:08gonna give them 20k let's go okay come on we'll start we were so eager to run through with Joel from
38:16Combank about our homes energy efficiency and where we live in normal lives we've got to be pretty
38:22sustainable anyway but when they announced it was a challenge for it I could not wait we've got the
38:293d printed cabanas and obviously everyone's got them with the solar panels and the battery and that
38:33that feeds some of our stuff up here as well with the hot tub and stuff so we're gonna be drawing off
38:37that solar that's why we've we spent a bit more money just to drag those lines out we'd rather use
38:41your whole wellness area is off-grid is off-grid at the back we've got chook pens going in so a bit
38:47of the secret but all out of nine and six recycling materials it's got the veggie garden as well and
38:53in the veggie garden is going to be a greenhouse so we can have your own curbs or your own veggies so
38:57we try to be like self-sufficient here and the chook pen will fertilize that yeah farm farm to table
39:02sort of experience here all the appliances that we've got given with the kitchen upgrade the sub-zero
39:06fridge keeping your fruit and veggies a lot longer yeah you've got the Unox oven that self-cleans
39:11itself it's underfloor heating throughout so you're not having to rely on your air-con just
39:15blaring all day I finished my pitch half an hour later and I think Joel was bored by the end of it
39:23we pinched these big posts from Scotty Sawmill these had fallen over just on the other side of
39:28Melbourne and they were they were carded here and they got to be reused we did put so much effort
39:32into it because 20k is massive it's massive but also energy efficiency is also very massive we're
39:38eventually when we can get under the house adding a grey water treatment system so all of our like that
39:44Joel yeah definitely yeah all of our grey water that comes out of our kitchen main ensuite and laundry
39:51will be treated through a filtration process and then push back the irrigation Ben did a really
39:57good pitch I think you nailed it so you you have a pitch prepared well we can make a little pitch no no
40:06that the week I'm sure someone told you this I found this out 30 seconds ago I wasn't communicated
40:11to me so unfortunately I was sort of a bit caught off guard you know we're just gonna add a pitch here's
40:18our pitch from here from week one we took our support beams out of our skylight system to open up the
40:25skylights in every room so essentially you don't need to turn a light on in the house until the sun is
40:30down keep going keep going well I recycled yesterday yeah it was it was shambles anyway so we've used all
40:43recycled timber beams throughout our ceiling we reused all the spare bricks that were sent and we have
40:49built our fireplace in there also to use the fireplace as a log burner rather than using you know heat
40:56heat from other sources we also use spare bricks for little bit left over for our barbecue area which
41:02we're currently building and we have the highest energy rating in our washer it's a five star and
41:06our dryers and eight staff been very you know forthcoming in chasing that sustainability prize we're
41:14going to have five veggie gardens down the side so you can produce your own produce farm to table we've
41:19got the beautiful water tanks are obviously a huge feature at the back of our home two rain water tanks
41:24yep I don't think we have done enough as a household to make our home super green and super lean okay
41:31so that's your pitch done yes that's happy done I need to just touch on very quickly your budget
41:38because I'm very concerned of the cash that I gave you in the original budget you guys were $80,000 over
41:46that budget gone and then you got some winnings and I gave you 50,000 bucks in yellow a week from
41:52Combank the 50k that we gave you on Monday is gone what's it gone to not your six grand over are we
42:01yeah yeah over budget I don't know of all the money that we've you've won and we've given you need to
42:07check this spreadsheet no no I've checked the spreadsheet that's why I'm talking to you about
42:10it you're 6k over the budget that is incredibly terrifying I didn't realize how grave the situation
42:19I thought we were still in the positive somewhat nobody even plastering your shed that that's yeah
42:25again another five grand here ten grand here that you just can't spend when your time in your in your
42:32budget situation that should have been a garden shed yeah we don't want to not finish or finish our
42:39budget just a little something something I prepared earlier it's a big old gym and it is beautiful so
43:05we'll have this done to be honest within a few hours today the equipment for Robbie and Matt's gym
43:10was installed while they were at the challenge yesterday so this morning they've been working
43:15on their tool shed this room is done in half hour I just gotta give it a clean all right then we're
43:20gonna bring in all the Stratco gear tomorrow and then it's sweet then we can lock the doors on these
43:25two and then Saturdays pure wine cellar and deck everyone's on the tools at our house and I spoke to
43:33GMAC and said hey mate how do you how do you feel about this and he goes it's getting done mate don't
43:38stress and we don't have a roof on at this stage do we have a staircase yet no am I having anxiety about
43:53this yes because how can we get down to the wine cellar if we don't have a staircase there's a no
44:04roof and there's a no space and you can see the Sun I just said to Matt we need to focus on everything
44:09but the staircase and cellar because Saturday is going to be the biggest day that we're gonna have
44:14on the show their cellar may still be a work in progress while we're on site Shell and I can't
44:23help but sneak a peek at the biggest play on the block this year hold on I'm just trying to you you
44:29pack this wall out your staircase is going down from the corridor straight down right yes so you've
44:35lost you've lost a meter and a 1200 of the deck yeah yeah which it's a massive deck anyway doesn't
44:40matter yeah yeah yeah that's it despite the slightly smaller terrace the boys have plenty
44:48of room for a barbecue dining area and an outdoor lounge and hidden underneath is the master stroke
44:56they could win them the week we're astonished you got this done yeah if you don't win you're gonna be
45:03embarrassed you got a bloody wine cellar underneath your area we're showcasing this week correct correct
45:08yeah so it's yours to stuff up yeah it was gonna be a game-changer finished or not it was gonna
45:14change your game Maddy you've done a fantastic job this week not only organizing this with Robbie but
45:20you also organized a wedding and you wrote your speech is the celebrant and so I am giving you the
45:27Bunnings hardest worker award this week to be honest the week that we have so far thanks he deserves
45:41it I'm gonna give you 15 15 plants up to your knees I'm just lucky my knees aren't this high
45:54thank you Scotty have a nice day yeah Shelley was stoked they literally said it's ours to lose so we're just
46:05gonna get it done we gotta pull it off and it's anything Matt's pretty good at pulling things off
46:08I can pull things off I got hardest worker this week so I pulled off a few things thinking here
46:14we'll go eucalyptus polyvalenta baby blue we'll grab them yeah we might as well grab all them
46:21because they're really cool and they'll be good in this garden nice natives what's that what are we up to
46:2712 and then I'll pick three from inside okay done I think the biggest concern from the Scott and Shelley
46:37walk around this morning was them raising the concern of our budget and that we're in the red god day
46:45from hell yeah can I get better from here cannot take a look at it till the invoices come in a minute
46:55oh that's the budget that's hurt yeah yeah so week on week we have overspent we haven't won for the
47:04last five six weeks that is costing us we're now at a crunch point and that overspend means we don't
47:13have enough it's eating into our landscaping budget your house is really good really really
47:18good inside but you've got to finish it off out here too because the backyards are pretty big it's
47:23massive yeah I mean I'm saying it all season is the backyard will sell the house and that is why Han
47:28is working so hard on the shed because we are pulling back on trades hard this week
47:37Han has taken on to complete as much of the project on her own and put in as much labour and
47:43hours as she can Colby came to me and said that the girls are having a really really hard time
47:51they're probably not going to finish um so I went and had a chat with her I saw her she was working
47:55in her strike co shed and she was just really really down like you're the hardest worker around
48:01here so this obviously must be so exhausting for you
48:04my body was tired I was getting tired I was just like it's like obviously you need help like but
48:13can't afford help so I'm stuck I plastered this myself like I threw the sheets up I screwed them all in
48:22like tried everything just to try save money just got like no money to do anything like we're you know
48:32the decks not going anywhere like haven't finished the shed like yeah it's just everything's gone
48:40for country charm and Dalesford drama you want the official block podcast this year we are doubling
48:52down so hear hot takes from the judges after sunday room reveals and exclusive interviews with your
48:57blockheads on wednesday night catch it on nine now or wherever you get your podcasts
49:12so how can we help like i want everyone to do well no it's all right like this is what it is we just
49:19won't finish no don't don't give up now when have you guys ever given up sometimes when you do have
49:26these really down days and these weeks and moments where things can just feel all consuming and you
49:33can't see the light at the end of the tunnel so just try to remind her of that and offered her some
49:37help and asked how i could help how about if we are in an okay position we get our chippies to come
49:44over and our time and help put in the doors or something all right it doesn't feel right like it's
49:49yeah but like i want everyone to do well like you're not finishing like your buy is not my buy babe
49:55like you're not my competition like i want you guys to do well for me it all got too much after
50:00scott and shelly came around and told us we were broke um just like the shed i'm struggling now because
50:08we've got no money like if we've got no money then how are we going to do a good job in the rest of the
50:13garden and that's a pretty crappy thought to have run through your head as long as there's no detriment to
50:21us like obviously you don't want us to finish but i'm more than happy to help yeah yeah thank you
50:28all right give me a cuddle thank you
50:34yeah like she was just there obviously gave me a hug and made sure i was all right so um that was
50:39really nice of her
50:43so i said oh if our boys get time i'll see if they can help hang hang the door even for them
50:47i said obviously like it's always going to come down to you know there's no detriment
50:52to us same girls that rinsed us the other day wasn't it these are the same people that were
50:57absolutely roasting us on monday i think i should get fined for working ahead that's probably a good
51:04act that's actually probably pretty good you break the rules they're cops they should know you break the
51:10rules you get penalized i'm also a bit furious and a bit over like people talking about us and rinsing us
51:16and wanting us to do bad because we turn around and the people we are are like you're in a bad spot
51:21how do we help you i reckon we burn it i'll throw petrol on it and you can light the match
51:29to hear them rinse us that was hard work yeah i know but like why like kill them with kindness you're
51:37right like yep yep
51:57g'day gang you have all met joel from combank and today is the big day that we announced the winner
52:04of the combank home energy efficiency challenge look it's great to hear that you have all been
52:09thinking about home energy efficiency across your builds because it's not just about today's win
52:14really is it joel it's about the fact that these are huge points that are going to help sell their
52:19homes that's right it was great to see all the block houses had home energy upgrades for things like
52:26home solar battery storage and heat pumps for the pools we know that these things can help save
52:31future owners on their power bills okay joel you've been through the houses you've heard the pictures
52:37of everybody who is going to take home the 20 000 bucks thanks to combank this house it not only
52:44made use of the essentials but they also had smart appliances and thought about heating and cooling
52:50and had the best long-term vision for the property and the winner is house three britain taz
53:02i was so happy but i was also looking left and right other people weren't as happy for us
53:07congratulations britain taz 20 grand coming your way from comb bank up top oh
53:15everyone's gone get my water get me coffee
53:20thanks honey house three are just winner winner chicken dinners aren't they
53:25i don't know why they won they won they had smart appliances but what's that i don't know
53:30probably everything in their kitchen is a smart appliance yeah like these days you slap ai on
53:38the front of anything and it's like ai kettle you're like what
53:45there is no way in hell that they should have won that at all why because their whole house has
53:55underfloor heating which is not energy efficient that's the most unsustainable house in the street
54:03i would like to know honestly what they did
54:07as much recycled timber from the wood miser in your yard or i guess maybe they won it that way
54:12maybe they had more recycled timber than anyone
54:16if they've you know done the thing about the recycled timber with the logs etc well they
54:20they took all the logs and there's still half of them sitting out the back of the campsite so how
54:23sustainable is that some of them should have gone in my yard run in case you haven't done the maths
54:29house three have won an extra thirty thousand dollars this week on the block every year there's
54:35rich teams and there's poor teams right now the rich team is house one and house three they're coasting
54:40and then you got poor old house two who are really really struggling i know sorry mate
54:47we're in the red it's
54:54maybe the worst day on the block money is at the forefront of everything we're doing we're running
54:59out of time running out of money i think there's massive concern about completing
55:06monday night a lot to do in a day poor concrete build stairs fit out a whole wine cellar style
55:15the wine cellar fill up the wine cellar it's a mad rush to tools down
55:21a lot to do in two hours i've never had this much to do in two hours
55:24tools down and then it's judging oh my gosh can i say this is perfect it does its job and it looks
55:35bloody good doing it that is the best material on the block that is a stubborn mistake i think
55:43that that is a big miss unfortunately they can't sell the drain
56:02you
