The Prime Minister Sir Kier Starmer has announced that by the end of the decade, everyone in the UK will need to have an ID card on their phone. Some people say it’s government overreach, but others say we’ve already got all our information out there, so it wont make much difference. We’re in Cardiff asking people for their thoughts.
00:00It's like the credit cards on your phone nowadays, you can just get it on there, it's all quick and easy, but I don't think that's what the case is.
00:05I think it's more to identify British people compared to the foreigners and refugees, but to be honest, I don't think there's ever been a problem.
00:12I don't think anyone apart from some people in the government has been a problem towards.
00:17In my opinion, obviously everyone's got their ID. If they need to produce it, let's say law enforcement, anything they can, but having an extra phone by identity on their phone, identity's basically on our phone anyway.
00:27I mean, you've got social medias, they're tracking everything as it is, so they know our movements, they know what we're doing, they know who we're speaking to, there's no need for that really, there's not.
00:38I was a student in France many years ago and I had an ID card then, so to me it doesn't really bother me, I don't know about you.
00:46I don't really see a problem with it, we've all got to have ID in something or other just to go to a bank or, you know, so many things you need, identification, know anything.
00:56I don't think it's a real problem, as long as it's not abused.
