00:00The ASEAN Business and Investment Summit has been elevated this year to give businesses greater access to leaders and each other,
00:07while opening the floor for frank discussions on ASEAN's future.
00:12Nazir Razak, chair of the ASEAN Business Advisory Council, said the summit will offer enhanced business-to-business facilities,
00:19such as private meeting spaces and an app to pre-book appointments,
00:23alongside panels and fireside chats with heads of state and major institutions.
00:27To me, once a year in ASEAN, if you have to go to an event, it has to be the ASEAN Business and Investment Summit.
00:36Because it's very rare that you get the opportunity to do both, to meet business and also meet leaders and discuss key issues.
00:47Notable speakers include Deputy International Trade and Industry Minister Liu Chin-tong,
00:52Oxford University Professor of Global Economic Governance, Nairi Woods,
00:57and MasterCard Vice Chairman and President of Strategic Growth, Ambassador John Huntsman.
01:03Alongside the must-listen session on ASEAN centrality and geoeconomics,
01:07Nazir highlighted panels on regional capital and financing as a major draw.
01:11We've also got, you know, very interesting sessions on philanthropy.
01:18And then there's going to be a session on entertainment,
01:21which is essentially music and movie making in ASEAN.
01:26Why we have K-pop but not A-pop.
01:31Why when you make a movie in Malaysia, you can distribute in Cambodia but not to Indonesia.
01:38These are the kind of issues we will discuss.
01:40Nazir said global shifts, including geopolitics and artificial intelligence,
01:45make it urgent for ASEAN to reflect on its achievements and shortcomings.
01:50A summit like this is an opportunity to contribute to improving business and development in ASEAN.
02:00I think when we look back, ASEAN has done well but could have done much better.
02:06I think we have to agree that and I think our job is to figure out how we can make ASEAN do better going forwards.
02:18ABIS 2025 will be held at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre from October 25th to 26th.
