00:00This lady is not as innocent as she looks. In the 1920s, New York City was building a massive sewer

00:06system with over 15,000 workers underground. A few weeks into the project, workers began seeing

00:12a strange woman wandering the tunnels at night. She looked thin and pale, so they called her the

00:17paper lady. At first, she seemed harmless. But one night, while some workers were resting,

00:23they heard splashing sounds. Ignoring it at first, they soon saw a small white figure rushing toward

00:29them. It was the paper lady, running at full speed. Panicked, everyone fled except Troy Story,

00:36who joked, maybe she just wants a hug. Holding out his arms, he waited for her. Moments later,

00:41she tackled him with full force, dragging him into the darkness. When the workers checked,

00:45Troy was dead, and she had vanished. Over months, more workers disappeared or were found dead.

00:52Fearing disaster, the police commissioner led officers underground to catch her.

00:56But this mission would lead to one of the city's most tragic days.
