00:00Hi, my name is Marek, I'm art director. Hello, I'm Kamil, I'm creative director in Dragon
00:10Entertainment. There were a few reasons to give the players story in Winter Survival. The thing
00:22is that there is so many survival games and they offer a lot of interesting features packed in an
00:28open gameplay and obviously we are doing this as well. However, we wanted to give the players
00:33something different and you know a bit more I would say easier to get into the game and that
00:39was our first initial idea to introduce the mechanics that are new that are changing the
00:44gameplay and they might be not so recognized from other survival games out there. On top of that we
00:49got some technological advantage to do so and then we make our first demo that was only story mode
00:55and we noticed how well it was welcomed by the players. Therefore we focused to develop full
01:01story mode with immersive narrative gameplay and experience that will make the game more unique,
01:07better adjust for new players in the survival genre or give something new for the players who are
01:13you know experienced in survival however they wanted to taste something else. The idea of the story was
01:21to create this kind of loneliness feeling around the player to make it so happens we need to start with
01:27the few friends and this gives us a flexibility to give a few things here. First of all side objectives
01:35or main objectives effectively something else just rather survive yes you have to find your friends in
01:42the wildness you have to worry about them you feel alone as long so long as you're actually being alone
01:49however when you have a glimpse of hope of communicating with someone else the loneliness is getting deeper
01:54and deeper that's also impact the whole sanity system that makes the game more and more let's say
01:59overwhelming for the character mind and gives this kind of horror vibe but not in a spooky way but more in a tension way
02:08Well first of all I'm a big fan of the mountains and the environment itself to me this question is
02:21about the style really and how we were developing the style of realism but more colorful the the bigger the
02:32stronger we're actually selling the story as well thanks to the a lot of visuals as well yeah we've got
02:38few things that support narrative by by visuals we are because you know the character is alone there
02:44we cannot just talk to ourselves all the time so we support the narrative by the environment a lot
02:50well obviously the nature and the mountains and the snow but also the 19th century engineering and the
02:59remainings of the this 19th century settlement sanity system is one of the core feature so we got
03:06effectively a couple of ways to just tell the story in a non-verbal way yeah about the inspiration
03:12and on the other things that we despite the the nature obviously itself uh for me i don't remember the
03:18title as well i i believe it was the gray yeah the movie when uh when the lamb i believe so he was
03:26hunting for a wolf and and you know i i absolutely love how how the tension was built there and how
03:32the wolves were acting obviously uh you know as much as we are doing our best to deliver the most
03:41sophisticated interesting ai uh we don't we don't have real wolves there um but we take a lot of a lot
03:49of uh real features i would say from from from them my personal favorite one of the personal
03:56movies that i like a lot is uh alien the first one when the basically the whole the whole movie is a
04:03one big tension and uh obviously you don't see it but you feel it and we also try to deliver it
04:11somehow with our bear who is constantly following you and making your life uh a bit more difficult
04:17obviously in the in the end game you have ways to deal with him but that's not the way on the very
04:22beginning uh either in the story or in a survival mode you you just have to be very very careful you
04:28have to be what you're looking around defensive exactly you have to be more defensive kind of enemy
04:33exactly so this also kind of vibe of uh nemesis following you let's put it this way it was also very
04:40very inspirational for us
