Selena Gomez's grandfather proudly gave her away during her fairytale wedding to Benny Blanco on Saturday ... and we're told the decision was a no-brainer.

00:00Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco's wedding went off without a hitch, as they say.

00:05And in fact, everybody was thrilled with the actual ceremony.

00:10All their celeb guests were there.

00:12She is now officially Selena Levin.

00:18Obviously, she's still going to go by Selena Gomez.

00:20But there was one thing that sort of caught some people a little off guard.

00:25They didn't expect this.

00:26Although I think it's pretty clear people in Selena's family knew that it was not her father or her stepfather who walked her down the aisle.

00:34But her grandfather, her grandfather, David, her maternal grandfather.

00:39And it turns out there was a pretty good reason for this choice.

00:42And not the biological father.

00:45So I spoke to some family sources and some people that were at the wedding.

00:48And they told me that Mandy, Selena's mom, her father was the one that walked Selena down the aisle.

00:54And a couple of the reasons for that was the grandfather didn't get to walk his own daughter, Mandy, down the aisle.

01:01So when she she never got married to Selena's dad, Rick.

01:05But when Mandy got married to Brian, Selena's stepdad, they just eloped.

01:10So he didn't get that opportunity.

01:12Also, Selena is very close with her stepdad.

01:15So you would think, oh, maybe he would have wanted to do that.

01:18But Brian, her stepdad, has a daughter, Gracie.

01:21So he'll get that opportunity with his other daughter.

01:24Was the biological dad in the wedding?

01:25The biological father, Rick, was there.

01:28Unclear how he felt about the decision.

01:31But I'm told that people felt this was Selena's big day.

01:35She kind of chooses what she does.

01:37Was Taylor in the wedding party?

01:40Taylor was not a bridesmaid.

01:42However, I'm told that Taylor did give a speech that was very emotional.

01:46And also Ed Sheeran was there.

01:55Looked like an awesome event.
