NASA is tracking asteroid 2024 YR4, which could crash into the Moon in December 2032. While the chance is just 4%, the consequences could be massive — a cloud of lunar debris sending thousands of meteoroids toward Earth. That’s enough to threaten satellites and astronauts in orbit.

NASA has two main options: deflect the asteroid with a precision mission or destroy it entirely — possibly using a nuclear explosion in space. But with time running out and politics in play, what will they choose?

This is more than space science. It’s a race against time to protect the Moon… and maybe ourselves.

00:00NASA might blow up an asteroid, not to save Earth, but to protect the moon.
00:05Here's why it matters more than you think.
00:07An asteroid named 2024 YR4 could slam into the moon in December 2032.
00:13And while Earth is safe, scientists say there's a 4% chance it could hit the moon.
00:18And that's still a big deal. Why?
00:20Because a moon impact would kick up a massive debris cloud.
00:23That means thousands of tiny meteoroids could rain down toward Earth.
00:27Putting satellites and even astronauts at serious risk.
00:31So NASA's considering two bold options.
00:33One, deflect the asteroid with a gentle nudge.
00:36But that needs ultra-precise data, and maybe even a scout mission by 2028.
00:42Or two, destroy it completely.
00:44With a powerful impact, or even a nuclear explosion in space.
00:48Yep, a one-megaton bomb could do it.
00:51But using nukes in space? That's not just science.
00:54That's a political nightmare.
00:55And there's not much time.
00:57If they act, the mission must launch between 2030 and 2032.
01:02The chance is small, but the risk?
01:05Too big to ignore.
01:06Because in space, early action saves lives.
01:10Should we really consider nukes to protect the moon?
01:12Let us know in the comments.
01:13Let us know if we do not know if we do not know when it comes toевич.
