00:07An asteroid named 2024 YR4 could slam into the moon in December 2032.

00:13And while Earth is safe, scientists say there's a 4% chance it could hit the moon.

00:18And that's still a big deal. Why?

00:20Because a moon impact would kick up a massive debris cloud.

00:23That means thousands of tiny meteoroids could rain down toward Earth.

00:27Putting satellites and even astronauts at serious risk.

00:31So NASA's considering two bold options.

00:33One, deflect the asteroid with a gentle nudge.

00:36But that needs ultra-precise data, and maybe even a scout mission by 2028.

00:42Or two, destroy it completely.

00:44With a powerful impact, or even a nuclear explosion in space.

00:48Yep, a one-megaton bomb could do it.

00:51But using nukes in space? That's not just science.

00:54That's a political nightmare.

00:55And there's not much time.

00:57If they act, the mission must launch between 2030 and 2032.
