00:00And our top focus this evening is on the fallout of the tragedy that played out over the weekend in Karoor of Tamil Nadu.
00:07There's an endless blame game as expected.
00:09As expected, not a single political party has taken responsibility for what's happened.
00:14Neither have officials.
00:15Vijay, of course, has been criticized because it's nearly 48 hours since the tragedy.
00:20He's made no attempt to actually meet with the families of the victims, or for that matter, those who've been injured.
00:25He says he's shattered by the tragedy in two posts that have been put up on social media.
00:30But nothing beyond that.
00:31There's been no attempt to issue a video statement, no attempt to meet with the families who've been affected,
00:36whose lives have been shattered forever as a result of what happened at that stampede.
00:41Besides that, the DMK continues to maintain that this was solely Vijay and TVK's fault,
00:47that it was because of them not heeding all of the rules that were put in place that this tragedy took place.
00:54Even as the TVK has now moved to the courts, claiming that all of this is a conspiracy,
01:00essentially suggesting that this stampede was manufactured, was orchestrated.
01:05The deadly stampede at Vijay's rally in Karoor has sent shockwaves across the state.
01:22Days after the killer stampede that claimed dozens of lives, including children and women,
01:30Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin has paid condolences and warned against misinformation.
01:36Union Finance Minister Nirmala Seetharaman visited the stampede spot at Karoor on Monday.
02:00She met families of victims and injured who are devastated and inconsolable at the government hospital in Karoor.
02:30Union Finance Minister Nirmala Seetharaman has arrived here in Karoor.
02:34She is meeting with the families of the victims who have unfortunately lost their lives in the Karoor stampede accident.
02:42Vijay's party, the Tamiraga Vetri Karagam, has approached the Madras High Court,
02:49demanding a CBI probe into the incident.
02:51The TVK has also lodged a complaint with the National Human Rights Commission,
02:59alleging lapses in crowd control and state negligence.
03:21The TVK is the need of the hour because a forensic investigation has to happen to see the trigger point,
03:36fix everybody, make everybody accountable.
03:38You cannot have a one-man inquiry commission which will naturally give clean shit to the state government.
03:43Pick people also.
03:43If nobody has to make a mistake, you do it.
03:45An immediate suspension.
03:46India today has accessed the FIR lodged by the state police against TVK.
03:53Though Vijay has not been named in the FIR, prominent functionaries of his party have been booked for culpable homicide.
04:01The TVK has levelled several charges against the state government and the police,
04:07including stone pelting, lati charge at the venue and a sudden power cut leading to the tragedy.
04:13The party also alleged that they were forced to hold the rally in a cramped space.
04:20We suggested a place called Velaida, this one.
04:23Because this was conducted in the recent past by one of the political parties
04:26with about 12,000 to 15,000 people who were gathered there and it went out very peacefully.
04:31So that was suggested to them.
04:32So they also went and saw the place.
04:33They finally agreed.
04:35They gave it in writing saying that we may be permitted to conduct the event in this place.
04:38The state government's fact-check team said there was no power cut at the event.
04:42Although a TVK office bearer had requested a power supply interruption.
04:49CM Stalin also highlighted how rumours and false news are being spread by some on social media.
04:55CM Stalin also advised political parties to take precautions during such rallies.
05:17While the TVK claims that Stalin government advised Vijay not to meet the victims and leave Karoor soon after the stampede,
05:41government sources deny any such directions given to TVK.
05:46While blame game has taken centre stage, it is the families who have lost their lives.
05:52While blame game has taken centre stage, it is the families who have lost their loved ones,
06:17who continue to suffer.
06:2027 September was supposed to be a day of joy and happiness as thousands gathered in Karoor to see their idol star and presumable Neta in person.
06:29But that day turned out to be tragic as 41 people lost their lives to a stampede.
06:34Now CM Stalin says that a one-man commission has been constituted and based on the report,
06:39regulations would be brought in for all parties to follow.
06:42But the bigger question is, how did this happen, who was responsible and could this be avoided?
06:48And all these questions must be answered.
06:51With Sendhil, Pramod Madhu, 4 Indi Chai.
