00:00Well, good morning, y'all.
00:04It is so good to see you.
00:05You may take your seats.
00:06It is a privilege, privilege, privilege to be here in New Zealand with you again.
00:11I just have so many incredible memories of two years ago when I was here,
00:16so to have an opportunity to come back and to be with all of you at this incredible church is a joy for me.
00:22Not to mention so many of incredible women of God that are also here this weekend.
00:28You are going to just love hearing from Wendy Treat and Laura Toggs and from Dr. Carolyn Leaf.
00:34They are some of my favorite people, and I love that God is going to speak through them to all of us this weekend,
00:43so to be able to partner with them in that effort is a real joy for me.
00:47I also have thought about the fact that there are quite a few sessions that you're going to be in over the course of this weekend.
00:55There is a lot that God is going to share with you and that he is going to want you and I to inscribe on our hearts
01:03and to readapt and adjust our lifestyles to because, you know, God does not speak to be heard.
01:09He speaks to be obeyed.
01:13And so the reason why you're here is because he has a word specifically for you.
01:18That is why he brought you.
01:19That's why he allowed you and I to be in this place.
01:23And I was thinking about the fact that when I was on my way here, I had a trip a week or so ago,
01:29and so my bag has kind of just sat in my bedroom wanting to be unpacked, but not quite unpacked.
01:36Does that ever happen to you where you just kind of get home but don't really ever unpack?
01:40And I'd kind of forgotten about the bag.
01:42It was just kind of sitting there in the corner of my bedroom.
01:44So as I began to pack for New Zealand to come here and to have an opportunity to be with you,
01:50I kind of set everything out on the bed and kind of got everything lined up, you know,
01:54all the different stacks of things that I needed to put in the suitcase.
01:57And my boys were in the room with me and they were talking as I was packing.
02:01And then it was time.
02:03I had everything laid out.
02:03It was time to put it in the bag.
02:05So I went over to the bag with my first stack, ready to put it in, lifted up the cover of my suitcase,
02:12realizing that there was actually no room to put the new stuff in because I had forgotten to take out any of the old stuff.
02:20And I thought that is so like me and my relationship with God too.
02:24I come to the next Sunday morning or to the next conference and God's got new stuff to give me.
02:29The only thing is I have not unpacked what it is he has already done,
02:35that I have not done business with what God has already shared with me.
02:38And so I thought that just for a few moments this morning before you and I go in together to this full day
02:45where God's going to set a banquet feast in front of us.
02:49Listen, everything God wants to feed me, I want to feast on.
02:53Anybody with me on that?
02:55It's the worst thing in the world when there's a banquet feast in front of you,
02:58but you're too full.
03:00Isn't that the worst?
03:02Like if there's extra chocolate, I want to eat it.
03:06So God has laid out a banquet feast for us today.
03:09What if we just pray and ask the Lord to help us to unpack steadily all day long everything that he shares with us,
03:17to inscribe it not only in our hearts, but to make strategic decisions and plans to live out what he shares with us
03:24so that we always have room for him to continue to fill us up?
03:28Let's pray together.
03:29Lord Jesus, thank you so much for this wonderful privilege and treat that we have to be in your presence.
03:36Lord, we do not take it for granted that you, the God of the universe, would want to meet with us,
03:43speak to us, that you would allow us to be in this room.
03:46There is not one of us under the sound of my voice that is here by accident or by chance.
03:51You plan this from the very foundation of the world.
03:55So I pray, Lord, that every spiritual ear will be open to hear your word,
04:00starting with me all the way to the back of this room, Lord.
04:03Our ears are open.
04:04We want to hear what you have to say.
04:06And so, Lord, just like your servant Samuel, we say, speak, Lord, because we are listening.
04:13We are making a commitment in advance to unpack the bags, Lord, to do something with what you give us today.
04:20Thank you, Lord.
04:20In Jesus' name, amen.
04:23My sister and I have this habit.
04:25My sister, my mother, and I have this habit that when Thanksgiving rolls around in the U.S.,
04:31we go on this little 5K walk run together.
04:35It happens on Thanksgiving morning every single year in the Dallas-Fort Worth area,
04:40which is where I live, in Texas, in the States.
04:44And this run that happens on Thanksgiving morning is called the Turkey Trot.
04:50And so we go out for the Turkey Trot.
04:52It is a lot of fun.
04:53I mean, there might be 50,000 people that are out there for the Turkey Trot.
04:57And so we all go out there early in the morning.
04:59It's kind of cool.
05:00You've got your, they serve some hot chocolate out there.
05:03And it's just a fun kind of family thing to do together.
05:06When our kids were real little, we would take our strollers out there,
05:09and we would all push our strollers during this walk or run.
05:13You're supposed to be running.
05:14Most of the time, we walk.
05:15And we would do this little run together, this adventure together on Thanksgiving morning.
05:21For some reason, this past Thanksgiving, we missed it.
05:24It just kind of, Thanksgiving snuck up on us.
05:26We hadn't registered for it in time, and so we missed it.
05:30So as Thanksgiving came and went and the Christmas holidays approached,
05:35my sister got online and started to look for another run that we could participate in
05:39because it's kind of a tradition of ours to do something.
05:42And my mom was going to be traveling, so she was going to be away.
05:45But Crystal and I, my sister and I, we still wanted to do this run.
05:49She found the Jingle Bell Run.
05:52It's another run that takes place annually in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
05:56We were so excited about the Jingle Bell Run.
05:58One of the reasons we were excited is because it happens at night,
06:02and it would be fun to run at night with 30,000 people.
06:06And some folks, because it is a holiday run,
06:09they come out there with, you know, reindeer antlers on a little band that's on their head,
06:14or they've got these glow lights wrapped around their necks or around their wrists.
06:18People have Jingle Bells.
06:20In fact, they pass out Jingle Bells when you arrive that you can tie on the shoelaces,
06:24on your tennis shoes.
06:26So it's just 30,000 Jingle Bells ringing as everybody runs through the night.
06:32It's a whole lot of fun.
06:33They serve you hot chocolate when you get to the end of the three miles.
06:36And we actually did run these three miles this past Christmas for the Jingle Bell Run.
06:41And the run went right through an area of Dallas-Fort Worth called the Design District.
06:47Now, I wasn't real familiar with the Design District.
06:49I have lived in the Dallas-Fort Worth area my entire life,
06:53but I haven't really kind of gone into the depths of the Design District,
06:57but I know exactly where it is and what it is.
06:59If anybody were to have ever asked me about the Design District,
07:03I would be able to point it out to them.
07:05In fact, most people in the Dallas-Fort Worth area,
07:08even if they've not gone all the way into the Design District,
07:10they know where it is.
07:11Because the main freeway that passes right through the city of Dallas is Highway 35.
07:18And when you are driving north on Highway 35 or south on Highway 35,
07:23there is a huge sign, a giant billboard right off the freeway
07:28where the Design District is that says the Design District.
07:32This is where a lot of interior designers and artists and photographers,
07:38people like that that have their own studios and things like that,
07:41they kind of are stationed in this little area.
07:44So I knew exactly where it was.
07:45But this particular area started at a hotel that is in,
07:49or this particular run started at a hotel that is in the area of the Design District
07:54and wove throughout the streets of that particular area.
07:58It's the first time I'd ever had an opportunity to kind of get into it and go through it.
08:03And so there we were running through the little streets of the Design District.
08:06And every now and then I would tell my sister I needed to stop to see something interesting.
08:13Really, I just needed to catch my breath.
08:15But I would run for a little while and I would look at a studio,
08:19a wonderful studio that had art lining the walls.
08:22I would kind of look in the windows and see the art lining the walls
08:25or the beautiful interior designs that some decorator had put together in her showroom.
08:31And I was very intrigued every few minutes to just stop and see a cute little cafe that I never knew was there.
08:38I'd been in Dallas my whole life and I'd never seen that photography studio or that artist studio
08:44or that decorator showroom.
08:46I'd never seen any of these details.
08:48Even though I knew about it and had seen it from afar,
08:52I didn't know any of the details of it until I went through it.
08:58In your relationship with God and in my relationship with God,
09:02it is not enough for him,
09:04for him to have children that just know about him from afar,
09:08that are able to point other people in his direction
09:11because, you know, they've been to church all their lives.
09:13And so, yeah, this is God.
09:15These are the scriptures.
09:16You know, I read a verse a day to keep the devil away.
09:19So, you know, I've got a few little things in my arsenal to share with you about God.
09:23That's not good enough for him.
09:24He wants you to know the details.
09:27He wants you to know his character.
09:29He wants you and I to be introduced to what he loves and what he doesn't love,
09:33what he likes and what he doesn't like,
09:35what his personality is,
09:36what his plan is for you.
09:38But most of the time, the only way that you and I will ever encounter
09:42the details of the character of God
09:45is when he takes us through something.
09:49When he allows us to be in a scenario in our lives
09:51that honestly we don't particularly care for,
09:54that we have to go through in the power of the Holy Spirit,
09:58girded by the strength of God around us.
10:01And it's as we go through that particular season in our life
10:04or that particular situation or issue that occurs in our marriage
10:09or our finances or our singleness or on our job or in our ministries.
10:14It's when we go through it that we really get to see who God is.
10:18And if we were to take this little microphone that I have on
10:22and pass it around this room starting at the very front row
10:24all the way to the very back,
10:26the reality is that if we were to give our testimony
10:29about the times we've really learned about who God is,
10:33for the majority of us,
10:35it would be during a season where we had to go through something.
10:39And we learned, we really learned what it means
10:41to lift our hearts up to God in prayer,
10:44to lean on him, to trust him, to have faith in him.
10:47All of that stuff is matured in our life
10:49when we go through something.
10:51I wonder if there is anybody in the room this morning
10:55that's going through something.
10:56Anybody?
10:58Just me?
11:01Yeah, through something.
11:03When you're going through something,
11:05and by the way, if you're not going through anything this morning,
11:09we want to say we are happy for you.
11:16But each and every one of us in this room
11:18are in one of three places in our life.
11:21We're either right smack dab in the middle of something right now,
11:26on our way into something,
11:27or on our way out of something.
11:30Jesus said in John 16, 33,
11:32in this world you will have trouble.
11:34You don't have to go looking for trouble.
11:36Just keep living and trouble will come and find you.
11:40But it's while you and I go through it
11:43that we get to really see the details about who our God is.
11:47And listen, he wants to be known.
11:49He wants to reveal himself to you.
11:53He doesn't want you and I to be satisfied just hearing about him
11:56at the conference or at church.
11:58He's so glad that we hear about him.
12:00But he wants, and you and I should want more than anything,
12:04to experience this God of the Bible.
12:07That the same power we see demonstrated in the miracles of Scripture,
12:11they become the reality of our life.
12:13That we don't just think this stuff is good for other people.
12:16That we believe it's true for us as well.
12:19That the same God who divided the Red Sea
12:22is the same God who can divide the problems of our life.
12:25The same God who raised Lazarus from the dead
12:27is the exact same God who has the strength and the power
12:30to raise to life something in your life or in mine
12:33that seems like it will never be resurrected again.
12:35He wants to be known, and so he takes you through it.
12:39He allows you to go through it for the privilege
12:42of bringing you out on the other side,
12:44bringing me out on the other side,
12:45more fully aware of the glory of God.
12:49If you have your Bibles with you and you want to turn with me,
12:52if you actually still use a Bible with paper pages like I do,
12:55or if you've got your iPad, your iPhone, any manner of I-ness,
13:00just flip on over to Exodus chapter 14.
13:06I think they're going to put it on the screens as well.
13:08Exodus chapter 14.
13:10As you turn there, let me just tell you
13:12that the children of Israel have been released
13:14from about 400 years of captivity.
13:18And they are on a journey in the wilderness
13:20headed toward the promised land.
13:22And in the midst of this adventure with God,
13:25he's going to take them through something.
13:28There's a problem, there's a scenario, there's a situation,
13:31there's a difficulty that they cannot figure out
13:34for the life of them.
13:35How they're going to be able to get across this difficulty
13:38so that they can move forward with God.
13:40Just like so many of us that are in a group this size,
13:43there have to be more than a handful of us
13:45who are right now staring at what looks like
13:48a very impossible and seemingly impassable situation.
13:53And you cannot for the life of you figure out
13:55how you're going to be able to get through this thing
13:58so that you can move forward to what it is
14:00that God has for you.
14:02The children of Israel know exactly how you feel
14:04if you've ever been in that scenario.
14:06Because as they try to move forward
14:08towards the land of milk and honey
14:11that represents the grace and the favor,
14:13the promises, the provision of God
14:16in the land of Canaan,
14:17they come across a problem called the Red Sea.
14:22Verse 13.
14:24Moses says to the people,
14:27do not fear.
14:30Stand by and see the salvation which he will.
14:34Somebody say he will.
14:36Come on, say he will.
14:38He will accomplish for you today.
14:41For the Egyptians whom you've seen today,
14:43you will never see them again forever.
14:47The Lord will fight for you while you keep silent.
14:53I'm going to read those two verses again.
14:56Moses said to the people,
14:58don't make excuses about why you can't get over the Red Sea.
15:01No excuses.
15:04He says, I'm going to tell you four things
15:07that will take you through and onward with God.
15:11He says, do not fear.
15:14Because ain't nobody got time for that.
15:17He says, stand by and see the salvation
15:20which the Lord will accomplish for you today.
15:23The Egyptians whom you've seen today,
15:25you will never see them again forever.
15:27The Lord will fight for you.
15:30He's got your back.
15:32While you keep silent.
15:35Four things I want to share with any of you
15:38that are going through something right now in your life.
15:41Or that will ever go through something in your life.
15:44That's all of us.
15:46Moses says to the children of Israel,
15:48the four exact things that the Holy Spirit of God
15:50wants to say to you and I today.
15:53He says, be fearless.
15:55Do not fear.
15:56He says, be still.
15:59Stand by.
16:01He says, be watchful.
16:03See the salvation of the Lord.
16:05And he says, shh.
16:10Be quiet.
16:13All right, you and I are going to do business
16:14with these four little very simple things.
16:17These are actually very foundational
16:19of so simple things that sometimes
16:21the power of them, the potency of them
16:24can be lost on us because they sound so simple.
16:27And if I were the enemy,
16:28if I were your enemy,
16:30what I would want to do
16:31is devalue the importance
16:34of the most significant weapons that you have.
16:37If I could get you to think
16:39that the simple things were not critical to your success,
16:42to getting through something
16:44with your head held high in the power of God.
16:46If I were your enemy,
16:47I would want to disarm you of the very things
16:50that I knew were your ticket to success.
16:53I want to hand you back the power, my friend,
16:56of the four things that Moses tells
16:59the children of Israel is their ticket through
17:01so that they can move forward with God.
17:04The very first, and I think most critical of the four,
17:08is that Moses says to the children of Israel,
17:11be fearless.
17:13He says, do not be afraid.
17:17This principle of choosing to live fearlessly.
17:22Oh my goodness, you and I in the church of Jesus Christ
17:24across the planet,
17:26and especially in this Bible teaching church,
17:28have heard so much about this issue,
17:31this principle of being fearless,
17:33of not being afraid.
17:35We've heard it so much
17:36that sometimes we wonder whether or not
17:38we should even talk about it anymore
17:39because we've all just heard it so much
17:42that fear can paralyze us.
17:44We wonder if,
17:45I even sometimes wonder,
17:46man, is it a waste of time
17:48to spend too much time this morning
17:50on this one principle?
17:52I thought about that this morning before I came.
17:53They've heard that all before.
17:56But it is fear that the enemy will use
17:58more than anything else to cripple you
18:00and to cause you to be disabled
18:02from doing what God has for you.
18:05That's why Moses needed to say
18:07to the children of Israel,
18:07the exact same thing God's Spirit
18:09wants to say to you again this morning.
18:12Do not be afraid.
18:17Y'all, this issue of fear,
18:19it is important.
18:20And it was so critical
18:21that in the scriptures,
18:23some rendition of this command
18:25is given over 300 times.
18:29It is said in different ways,
18:31different variations,
18:32but it's basically the same thing.
18:34Fear not.
18:35Do not be afraid.
18:38Be fearless.
18:39Fear ye not.
18:41Over and over and over again
18:42in different ways.
18:44God wants to say to us
18:45the exact same thing.
18:46In fact, it is so critical
18:48and so important to him
18:49that he gets to the New Testament
18:51and Paul writes a letter
18:53to a young man named Timothy
18:54and he says,
18:55Tim, this is what you need to know,
18:57that he has not given us
18:59a spirit of fear.
19:00He says,
19:01of all the important things,
19:03Timothy,
19:03that you need to know
19:04in your life
19:05and in this ministry
19:06that God is sending you through,
19:08two,
19:08as you go through things
19:10in this journey of life
19:11that you will inevitably go through.
19:13He says,
19:13would you remember
19:14that what our God does not give,
19:17and by the way,
19:17our God is in the gift giving business,
19:19but one thing
19:21that he will never wrap up
19:23and tie a bow on
19:24to give to you
19:25is fear.
19:26He just doesn't do fear.
19:29That's just not the way he rolls.
19:30He gives power
19:34and love
19:36and a sound mind.
19:40Look at the woman next to you
19:42and say,
19:42girl, you have a sound mind.
19:43You are not insane.
19:45You are not crazy.
19:53Because the reality is
19:54sometimes we don't feel
19:55that we have a sound mind,
19:58do we?
19:59We hit the right traffic jam
20:00on the right day.
20:03The kids have the right argument
20:05in the right setting.
20:09The chores that we have
20:10lined up at our job
20:12or in our home,
20:13if they line up
20:13in just the right way
20:14or overwhelm us too much,
20:16we can begin to forget
20:17that we do,
20:18in the power of God,
20:20have a sound mind.
20:21I cannot wait
20:22for Carolyn Leaf
20:23to get up here
20:24and talk to you all
20:24about having a sound mind.
20:28Oh, love it so much.
20:30He does not give fear.
20:33He gives a sound mind.
20:35And I don't know about you,
20:35but sometimes I just need
20:36to be reminded by God
20:38that I am not crazy.
20:40That I am not insane.
20:42Sometimes I feel like
20:43I have six different people
20:45in my brain
20:45talking to me
20:46all at the same time.
20:47Anybody know what I'm talking about?
20:48There's just so much
20:49going on in your life.
20:50But what God does give to you
20:52is that sense of strength
20:53and stability
20:54to carry you and I
20:56through whatever it is
20:57that he brings into our life
20:59or allows into our lives.
21:01He does not give fear.
21:03If we believe
21:04that our God
21:05does not give a spirit of fear,
21:09but you find
21:10or I find in my life
21:11that there is a spirit of fear
21:15attached to something specific
21:17in your life
21:18or in your journey.
21:19An opportunity
21:20that you're intimidated by,
21:21a relationship,
21:23an endeavor,
21:24a ministry,
21:25an interest of yours
21:29that just seems
21:30to cause you
21:31to feel a little bit paralyzed
21:32and insecurity
21:33or fear.
21:35If you and I
21:36know what we know now
21:37based on the scriptures
21:38that God does not give fear,
21:41but you sense
21:42that there is a spirit of fear
21:43attached to something
21:45in your life
21:45and you know God
21:46didn't give it,
21:47that means you know who did.
21:49And if the enemy
21:50has placed a spirit of fear
21:52on something in your life,
21:54it must mean
21:55that he is trying his best
21:57to keep you away
21:59from something.
22:01And if he's trying
22:01to keep you away from it,
22:03that must mean
22:03there's something in it
22:04that he does not want you to have.
22:07So as the children of Israel
22:08sat on the edge
22:09of the Red Sea,
22:10if they were to shrink back
22:12in fear
22:12and not pass through it,
22:14then he knew
22:15if he could keep them
22:16from passing through it,
22:17they would also be kept
22:19from the promised land
22:20on the other side of it.
22:21Listen, my friend,
22:22if the spirit of fear
22:23is attached to something
22:24in your life,
22:25would you know
22:26that that is likely
22:27the enemy's way
22:28to keep you
22:29from passing through it?
22:30Because he knows
22:31if you pass through it
22:32on the other side of it
22:33is the destiny
22:34to which God has called you.
22:36And so one of the main ways
22:38that he will keep you and I
22:39from achieving what it is
22:41and doing what it is
22:42that God has called us to do
22:43and who he's called us to be
22:44is that he will attach
22:46a spirit of fear
22:47to the very thing
22:48that he knows
22:48is the channel way
22:50to your destiny.
22:51He wants you and I
22:52to be so paralyzed,
22:54so crippled,
22:55so disarmed,
22:56so disinterested
22:58from the very thing
22:59that he knows
22:59is exactly what God
23:01wants to take you through
23:02so that he can bring you
23:04to a new place in him.
23:07Do not be afraid.
23:10One of the ways
23:11that I can even begin
23:13to discern the Lord's leading
23:14in my life,
23:15I will tell you this.
23:16If there are two things
23:17in front of me,
23:17two options
23:18and I'm trying to make
23:19a decision between A or B
23:21and honestly there's one of them
23:22that I just don't feel
23:23drawn to at all
23:24and I'm leaning
23:25towards the other one
23:26but as I pray through it,
23:28when I'm trying to discern
23:29God's leading in my life,
23:30as I pray through it,
23:31when I whittle down
23:32all of the reasons
23:33why I don't want
23:34a particular option,
23:36if when I get
23:37to the bottom root level
23:39of the reason
23:40why I don't want something,
23:41if there is any intimidation
23:43or insecurity
23:44or fear
23:45attached to the reason
23:47why I do not want
23:48to choose something,
23:49I automatically assume
23:51that if the enemy
23:52is working that hard
23:53to keep me away
23:55from that thing,
23:56there must be something
23:57in it that he does not
23:58want me to have
23:59and I don't know
23:59about you
24:00but when I find out
24:01that the enemy
24:02is behind something,
24:03a holy indignation
24:04rises up on the inside of me.
24:06Anybody know
24:07what I'm talking about?
24:08Because everything
24:09God has for me,
24:10I want.
24:11Anybody with me on that?
24:14Do not be afraid.
24:17Now listen,
24:18it does not mean
24:19that you won't feel fear.
24:21It made sense
24:22in this scenario
24:23that the children
24:24of Israel would be afraid.
24:25It made complete sense.
24:26They had just been
24:27in 400 years
24:28of captivity.
24:29They are just several days,
24:31really just hours even,
24:33into the wilderness
24:34when they come up
24:35against a barrier
24:35that seems to
24:36board them in.
24:38It seems like
24:39they're going to be kept
24:39from walking
24:40into true freedom.
24:41It makes sense
24:42that they would be afraid
24:43because not only
24:44is this body of water
24:45in front of them
24:46that they can't see across
24:47nor can they see a shoreline
24:49on the east or the west
24:50but the problem is
24:51that now Pharaoh
24:53and his army
24:53is coming up on the rear
24:55and listen,
24:55scholars say
24:56that this army
24:57would have been
24:58so wide
24:59and so vast
25:00that they likely
25:01would have spanned
25:02around the east side
25:03and the west side
25:05of the Hebrew pilgrims.
25:06So not only
25:07are they blocked
25:08in front
25:08and not only
25:09are they blocked
25:10by an army in back
25:11but really
25:12they are blocked
25:13on either side
25:14as well.
25:15In other words
25:15they are completely
25:16surrounded.
25:18You know what it's like
25:19to be surrounded.
25:21You know what it's like
25:22to fix this problem
25:23right here
25:24only to turn this way
25:25and realize
25:25there's a problem
25:26right here.
25:27Then to take care
25:28of this one
25:28only to realize
25:29there's another one here
25:30and another one here.
25:31Anybody ever known
25:32what it felt like
25:33to be completely surrounded
25:35on all sides?
25:36The children of Israel
25:37know how it feels
25:39and it makes sense
25:40that in their scenario
25:41that they would be afraid
25:42just like it makes sense
25:44that in your scenario
25:45with the difficulty
25:47you're facing
25:48right now
25:49in your marriage
25:49or in your health
25:50or in your finances
25:51in your own heart
25:53in your parenting
25:54that with difficulties
25:56like the ones
25:56we saw
25:57on these screens
25:58with these four
25:59incredible testaments
26:01to the grace
26:02and the power of God
26:03that stood before us
26:04singing the praises
26:05of God
26:06despite all that it is
26:07that he has allowed them
26:08to go through
26:09in their life
26:09it makes sense
26:11that in scenarios
26:12like that my friend
26:13that you would be afraid.
26:15So the command
26:17is not to
26:18that you will not
26:19feel fear
26:20it makes sense
26:21in our frailty
26:22in our humanness
26:22that we will feel it.
26:24The question is
26:25whether or not
26:26you will choose
26:27to wallow
26:28in the fear
26:28that you feel.
26:29The question is
26:30whether or not
26:31you will make a decision
26:32to sit with it
26:33to make friends with it
26:34to pull out tea
26:35and crackers
26:36and have a party
26:37with it.
26:38The decision
26:39that you and I
26:40have to make
26:40is will we
26:41gird our minds
26:42with the word of God
26:44and in the power of God
26:45will we do war
26:46against the enemy's
26:48attempts to cripple us
26:49from moving forward
26:50in God.
26:52Don't let fear
26:52paralyze you my friend.
26:54Every time you feel
26:56the emotion of fear
26:57or insecurity
26:58or intimidation
26:59creeping up on you
27:01don't make friends
27:02with it.
27:04Take that as your cue
27:05to drop to your knees
27:07and to offer that fear
27:08up to God
27:09and then in the very
27:10next breath
27:11command the promises
27:13of God's word
27:14over your life
27:15and your circumstances.
27:17Y'all we don't live
27:18on a playground
27:18we're on a battlefield.
27:22We gotta go to war
27:23with this enemy
27:24that seeks to cripple
27:26our mind
27:27and to disarm us
27:29from what it is
27:30the power that we need
27:31to move forward in him.
27:33I have three boys
27:34I told you all this
27:35a couple of years ago
27:36but I'll share it
27:37with you again.
27:38Three boys that are
27:39rapidly getting bigger.
27:40I think that I have
27:41a picture of the boys
27:42they might have
27:43to share with you.
27:45They are some
27:46big giant boys.
27:48I will tell you
27:48that my oldest son Jackson
27:50is on the far left side
27:51over here
27:51your right side.
27:53Jackson is getting ready
27:54to be 12 years old.
27:56He wears a size
27:5611 men's shoe.
27:58I'm not sure
27:59what the size
28:00would be over here.
28:01I don't know
28:01if it's the same sizes
28:02but big.
28:04He wears size big okay.
28:06He's very close
28:07to his father's shoe size
28:08and then little Jerry Jr.
28:10He's really not that little.
28:11He's 10 years old.
28:12He stands nearly
28:14almost about my height
28:15when I don't have heels on.
28:16Just a really big guy
28:17and then my little one
28:18he's getting ready
28:19to be 6 years old.
28:21So I've got Jackson,
28:22Jerry Jr.
28:23and Jude
28:24and I named that little one
28:25Jude on purpose
28:27because that's as close
28:28as I could get
28:28to Revelation
28:29because it is finished.
28:32It's the end of the line.
28:36So I've got Jackson,
28:38Jerry Jr.
28:39and I have Jude
28:40and these boys
28:41as you can see
28:41are into athletics.
28:43They are into sports.
28:44That is one way
28:45that their size
28:46really does work
28:47to their advantage
28:48is that they love
28:49whatever sport happens
28:51to be in season
28:52at the time
28:53and I remember
28:55when baseball
28:56kind of took on,
28:57American baseball
28:58kind of took on
28:59with my older two boys.
29:01It was one Christmas
29:03and this particular Christmas,
29:04this is before Jude
29:05was even born
29:06so my oldest was 5,
29:08my second son
29:09was 3 years old
29:10and it was Christmas time
29:11and you know
29:12what happens
29:12on Christmas day,
29:13your kids
29:14don't really understand
29:15what holiday means.
29:17So they get up
29:18early in the morning
29:20and they come
29:21into your room
29:21and tell you
29:22how important
29:22and critical it is
29:23that you head
29:24to the Christmas tree
29:25immediately
29:25to open up those gifts.
29:27Now you need to know
29:28that at my house
29:29we have up until recently
29:32bought as many
29:33of their little Christmas gifts
29:34as we could
29:35from the dollar store.
29:35Do you have dollar stores here?
29:37Okay so we would go
29:38to the dollar store
29:38and we'd buy them
29:39you know like a yo-yo,
29:40you know a little Rubik's cube,
29:42you know little cheap things
29:43because you know
29:44we decided to milk that
29:45as long as we could,
29:46as long as they were old enough
29:47and didn't know
29:47what we were doing.
29:49So we would put
29:50just two or three things
29:51under the tree
29:52and the reason why
29:53we would do that
29:54is because my children
29:55have grandparents.
29:56Can somebody say hallelujah?
29:59Are there grandparents,
30:00any grandmothers
30:01in the room this morning?
30:02We want you to know
30:03we love you.
30:05You just keep doing
30:07what you do
30:07because about noon
30:10on Christmas day
30:11after my boys
30:12have finished opening up
30:13a few little cheap trinkets
30:14under our little tree
30:15we are going to
30:16Nani and Poppy's house.
30:18Those are my parents
30:19and that is where
30:20my boys get the loot.
30:25But on this particular Christmas
30:27we had bought them
30:28a couple things
30:28from the dollar store
30:30but my husband
30:32had kind of gone out
30:33to Toys R Us,
30:34the big toy store
30:35and bought them
30:36this little baseball machine.
30:39It was a plastic machine
30:40that catapults
30:41plastic baseballs out
30:42at a certain frequency
30:43and a certain velocity.
30:45The kid stands there
30:46with a little plastic
30:47baseball helmet on
30:48and a plastic bat
30:49and just swings
30:50at these balls
30:51that are coming out.
30:52So they opened it up
30:53they were so excited
30:54five years old
30:54three years old
30:55they could not wait
30:56to get outside
30:57early on Christmas morning.
31:00Have their father
31:01put together
31:01this little trinket
31:02so that they could
31:03play this game.
31:05So there we are
31:05wrapped in our robes
31:07the sun is just coming up
31:08it's cold outside
31:09it's early in the morning
31:10but there is that
31:12sweet little three year old
31:13he's got that plastic helmet on
31:14he's got that little
31:15plastic bat
31:16he is at least swinging
31:17at every single ball
31:19that comes out of the chute.
31:20Now his older brother
31:21is a little bit more cautious
31:22and concerned
31:23and calculated about things
31:25than his younger brother is.
31:26He was standing off
31:27to the side
31:27that Christmas morning
31:28watching these balls
31:29coming out
31:30this frequency
31:31and this velocity
31:32of these balls
31:33and he just wasn't sure
31:34about that
31:34he's watching his little brother
31:35swing at it
31:36but he's like mom
31:37I don't think I can do that
31:38I'll just let him do it.
31:40And I said no buddy
31:40you can do it
31:41I'm encouraging him
31:42he said no mom
31:43I can't do it
31:43those balls are too fast.
31:45I said buddy
31:46yes you can do it
31:47he says no mom
31:48no I can't
31:49I said yes you can
31:50and you're going to do it
31:51because it's early in the morning
31:52and it's cold out here
31:52and you brought us out here
31:53early in the morning
31:54you're going to do it.
32:01I wasn't playing.
32:05So
32:05it's finally his turn
32:07he puts the helmet on
32:09he grabs the bat
32:09and he stands there
32:10looking at the machine
32:12I felt so bad for him
32:16because he was so intimidated
32:18so insecure
32:19and I wish I could have said
32:21really
32:22I did say it to him
32:24but I don't think
32:24his five year old brain
32:26could compute it
32:27I wish I could have
32:29helped him realize
32:29that his father
32:30who loves him so much
32:31had gone behind
32:33that little machine
32:34he had opened up
32:35a little flap
32:37on the machine
32:37that revealed some gears
32:38these gears could be manipulated
32:41so that the frequency
32:42and the velocity
32:43of the balls
32:44was matched
32:44with the capability
32:45of the person
32:46that was standing
32:46at the plate
32:47so my boy had no reason
32:49to fear
32:49because he had a father
32:51who loved him
32:52who had already set up
32:53the circumstances
32:54so that he was set up
32:55to win
32:56the reason why
32:57you have no reason
32:58to be afraid my friend
32:59as God calls you
33:00to go here
33:01or do that
33:02or go through
33:03this particular thing
33:04in your life
33:04is not because
33:05you're so capable
33:06it's not because
33:07you're so prepared
33:08it is because
33:09you have a daddy
33:10who loves you
33:10he has already
33:11gone behind the scenes
33:13he has already
33:14orchestrated
33:14and manipulated
33:16events and people
33:18and circumstances
33:18so that all he needs
33:20is a woman
33:20that's willing
33:21to say yes Lord
33:22and stand there
33:24at the plate
33:24of his grace
33:25and his glory
33:25and his calling
33:27on your life
33:27and to do
33:28what he's called
33:29you to do
33:29and if you and I
33:30will just do it
33:31we will realize
33:32we've been set up
33:33to hit a home run
33:34every single time
33:35so if right now
33:38there is something
33:39crippling you
33:40the enemy
33:41is working overtime
33:42to cause you
33:43to be afraid
33:44in your life
33:44will you hear
33:45this message
33:46from the Holy Spirit
33:47today
33:47step up to the plate
33:49do not be afraid
33:50your God
33:51has got your back
33:52do not be afraid
33:56the next message
33:59that Moses had
34:00for the children
34:01of Israel
34:01and by the way
34:03do you notice
34:03in this passage
34:04that it's never
34:05really a debate
34:06whether or not
34:07they are going
34:07to cross over
34:08did you notice that
34:09he said this victory
34:11is a victory
34:13that he will
34:14accomplish for you
34:15today
34:15there's no question
34:17as to whether or not
34:18you will come
34:20through victoriously
34:21my friend
34:22I don't know
34:22whether or not
34:23you've read the book
34:24but in the end
34:25we win
34:26the victory
34:29has already
34:30been given to you
34:31your only goal
34:32my only goal
34:33now as you go
34:34through that thing
34:35in your life
34:35is just to claim
34:37to lay hold
34:38of what it is
34:39that has already
34:40been granted
34:40to you
34:41you are not
34:42fighting for victory

35:09parts of this command
35:10the standing part
35:12and the stillness

35:14neither of which
35:16are particularly
35:17simple for me
35:18the standing
35:20and the stillness
35:21actually I have
35:22a problem with
35:23both of these
35:24commands
35:24problem with them
35:25because if I had
35:27been there
35:27on the edge
35:28of the Red Sea
35:29and I'm watching
35:30the chariots
35:31and the bows
35:32and arrows
35:32and the soldiers
35:34that are approaching
35:34from behind
35:35and all around
35:36the sides
35:36when I am
35:37cornered like that
35:38in a scenario
35:39where I feel like
35:40there will never be
35:41any way of escape
35:42in this particular
35:43scenario that I'm in
35:44it just does not
35:46make sense to me
35:46that Moses would
35:47look at me
35:48as an Israelite
35:49in that particular
35:50predicament
35:51and say here's
35:51what you're gonna do
35:52I want you to
35:53just stand still
35:54Moses you mean
35:57you do see this
35:58wood right here
35:59you don't want me
35:59to get this wood
36:00and start carving
36:00out a raft
36:01and getting it
36:02together so that
36:02we'll have something
36:03to sail on
36:03to get over
36:04this body of water
36:05Moses you do see
36:06that we've got
36:07some swords here
36:08you don't want me
36:08to pick up this
36:09sword and get ready
36:09to fight
36:10Mo you do understand
36:11that I've got a bow
36:12and an arrow here
36:13you don't want me
36:13to pick up this bow
36:14and arrow
36:15and get ready
36:15to shoot it
36:16into the crowd
36:16Moses you mean
36:17you don't want me
36:18to take my earrings
36:19off and get some
36:20Vaseline on my
36:21knuckles
36:21and get ready to go
36:22no Moses says
36:25to them
36:25I do not want
36:26you to lean
36:27to your own
36:28understanding
36:29as to what
36:30you would think
36:31would be the best
36:32solution in this
36:33particular problem
36:34what I want you
36:35to do
36:35is to plant
36:37your feet firmly
36:38to stand
36:39and I want you
36:40to be still
36:41in faith
36:42and confidence
36:43and trust
36:43that the God
36:44that we serve
36:45the same God
36:46that delivered us
36:47out of Egypt
36:48is the same God
36:49who will carry us
36:50through the Red Sea
36:51he says
36:52stand still
36:53sounds like
36:54a very passive
36:54command
36:55in the midst
36:56of very active
36:57circumstances
36:58but I want you
36:59to think about this
37:00for just one second
37:01when I come home
37:02from a long day
37:03of work
37:03when you do as well
37:04or running errands
37:05or whatever
37:05when I walk
37:06into the house
37:07after a long day
37:08the last thing
37:09I want to do
37:10is stand
37:11what I do
37:13is I take my shoes
37:14off
37:14and then I
37:15what do we do
37:16we sit
37:18we find
37:20the most comfortable
37:21chair that we can
37:22and we collapse
37:25into it
37:25or lay flat
37:26on our bed
37:27and the reason
37:28is because
37:28all those standing
37:29seems like
37:30a passive action
37:32it actually
37:33there's nothing
37:34passive about it
37:35sitting is passive
37:37laying is passive
37:39because then
37:40we're allowing
37:40something else
37:41to carry our weight
37:43but when you stand
37:44it requires
37:45a decision
37:46of your brain
37:47that transfers
37:48down to the muscles
37:49and the joints
37:50in your body
37:51it requires
37:52a resolve
37:53of your mind
37:54your actions
37:55your muscles
37:56your frame
37:58to keep itself
37:59upright
38:00when you'd rather
38:01just relax
38:02into something else
38:03to carry your weight
38:04standing is not
38:06passive at all
38:07it requires
38:08a decision
38:09a choice
38:10an action
38:12on your part
38:13a resolution
38:13on your part
38:14to plant
38:15your feet
38:16on something
38:17and not
38:18be moved
38:19you need to know
38:21that our culture
38:22the culture
38:23in which we live
38:24globally
38:24wants us
38:25to relax
38:26our standards
38:27wants us
38:29to no longer
38:30plant our feet
38:31firmly
38:32on the word
38:32of God
38:33doesn't want us
38:34to make a resolution
38:36that we will not
38:37be moved
38:37to the left
38:38or the right
38:39that when we're
38:40going through
38:40something
38:40that seeks
38:41to challenge
38:42everything
38:42that we thought
38:43we knew
38:43to be true
38:44about our God
38:45and about his commands
38:46what we will not do
38:47is allow our feet
38:49to be moved away
38:50from the firm belief
38:51and confidence
38:52and trust
38:52that we have
38:53in the promises
38:54of our great God
38:55it takes resolution
38:56in the culture
38:57in which we live
38:58y'all
38:58to plant your feet
38:59and stand firm
39:01high school student
39:02you gotta stand firm
39:04university student
39:05you gotta stand firm
39:06wife
39:08mother
39:08single woman
39:09in order to do
39:10and be who it is
39:11that God has called
39:12you to be
39:12you and I
39:13are gonna have
39:14to plant our feet
39:15solidly
39:16on the truths
39:16of God's word
39:17and believe
39:18that everything
39:19he said
39:20is true
39:20and applies
39:21to our lives
39:22that it's not
39:23just a book
39:24written with
39:24historical facts
39:25that's good
39:25for history
39:26that it is a book
39:27that has been
39:28inspired by the
39:29Holy Spirit
39:29of God
39:30and that applies
39:31to us today
39:31plant your feet
39:33on it my friend
39:34and stand
39:35stand firm
39:39Ephesians 6
39:41puts it this way
39:42having done
39:43everything
39:43to stand
39:44stand firm
39:46therefore
39:46in other words
39:48you just keep
39:48on standing
39:49I know that it
39:50might be a little
39:51bit tiring
39:52a little bit
39:53exhausting
39:53you might feel
39:54pushed to the
39:55left or the
39:56right
39:56you might even
39:57want to take
39:58a step forward
39:59or backward
39:59or go out

41:34which terminal

41:35to but which
41:36gate you're

42:18walked into
42:18the airport
42:19checked our
42:19bags and then
42:20we got in
42:21line for
42:21security my
42:22family and I
42:23happened to
42:23be shuffled
42:23to one line
42:24Katie was
42:25in another
42:26line but we
42:26were both
42:26going through
42:27all of us
42:27were going
42:28through the
42:29line at
42:29security and
42:30so we
42:30commenced to
42:31all basically
42:32take off all
42:33of our clothes
42:33so that we
42:34could get
42:35through security
42:35so that we
42:36could board
42:37this plane
42:38and my line
42:39our line
42:40went so much
42:41faster than

42:42hold up was
42:43but there
42:43just was one
42:44hold up after
42:44another and she
42:45couldn't get
42:45through and so
42:46all five of us
42:47had gotten
42:48through security
42:49and were on
42:49the other side

42:53there waiting
42:53to come through
42:54and so we
42:55just kind of
42:55waited a second
42:56waved at her
42:57she lifted up
42:58her shoulders
42:58unsure of

43:23for the flight

43:28get them all
43:28buckled in
43:29and ready
43:29to go
43:29and so we
43:30were sitting
43:31there on
43:31the plane
43:31we're still
43:32waiting for
43:33Katie
43:33and now we're
43:33getting a little
43:34bit nervous
43:34because Katie
43:35is still not
43:36there and
43:36really half
43:37of the plane
43:38is already
43:38full
43:39and so people
43:40keep lining
43:41onto the plane
43:41we keep looking
43:42for Katie
43:43we do not
43:43see her
43:44and we finally
43:45hear the airline
43:46calling her name
43:47over the loudspeaker
43:48now you know
43:49you're late
43:49when they start
43:50calling your name
43:50over the loudspeaker
43:51so they're calling
43:53her name
43:53over the loudspeaker
43:54and we're really
43:55nervous now
43:55because everybody
43:56is on the plane
43:57they're about
43:57to close the door
43:58of the jet bridge
43:59and she still
44:00has not gotten
44:01on the flight
44:02and we really
44:02think at this point
44:03that she is going
44:04to miss the flight
44:04we have tried
44:05to call
44:06she hasn't answered
44:07we have texted
44:07she has not responded
44:09we don't know
44:09what is going on
44:10and literally
44:10moments before
44:12they're about
44:12to close the door
44:13of the airplane
44:13Katie comes racing
44:15down the little
44:16small narrow
44:18aisle of the plane
44:19she races down
44:20she is sweating
44:21bullets
44:21her hair is plastered
44:23to the side
44:24of her face
44:24she races
44:25down the aisle
44:26plops into her chair
44:27takes a deep breath
44:29and wipes her face
44:30and buckles up
44:31and she looks up
44:32just in time
44:33to find all five
44:34of us looking
44:35at her like this
44:36we said Katie
44:41what in the world
44:43happened
44:43security
44:45was just right there
44:47and our gate
44:47was just right here
44:48what in the world
44:50happened
44:50she said well
44:52I saw on my text
44:55that Jerry sent me
44:55that it said

44:57but I just assumed
44:59that he meant

45:01so I got on
45:04the airport train
45:05that takes you
45:06to all the different
45:07terminals
45:08in the entire airport
45:09I went from D
45:11all the way over
45:12to A
45:13on the other side
45:13of the airport
45:14went down to gate 22
45:16obviously I realized
45:17that was the wrong gate
45:18so I had to get back
45:19on the train
45:20go all the way
45:22around back
45:22to here
45:23so that I could
45:24hopefully make the flight
45:25she was like
45:25I didn't even think
45:26that I was gonna make it
45:28my husband looked back
45:30at her
45:31like this
45:34and then he said
45:39something to her
45:39that I will never forget
45:40he said oh Katie
45:43if you would have
45:44just believed
45:45that exactly what I wrote
45:47is exactly what I meant
45:49could have saved you
45:53so much time
45:54and so much energy
45:54so much sweat
45:55so much frustration
45:56if you would have
45:58just believed
45:59that exactly
46:02what I wrote

46:06I wonder how much
46:08sweat
46:09and how many
46:10sleepless nights
46:10and how much frustration
46:12and how much worry
46:13and concern
46:13and anxiety
46:14would be saved

46:15the daughters of God
46:17if we would just believe
46:18that our father
46:19wrote exactly
46:20what he wanted us
46:21to plant our feet
46:23and stand on
46:24do not lean
46:26to your own understanding
46:27in all your ways
46:29just acknowledge him
46:31he will make straight
46:32your path
46:33even when it does
46:34not make sense
46:35even when it doesn't
46:36seem rational
46:37that this would be
46:37the way to come
46:38to any sort of resolution
46:39in that particular problem
46:41that you're facing
46:42Lord you don't want me
46:43to do this
