00:00I'm so glad that some of our conversations are on meditation.
00:04So I have a number of questions that I get on meditation.
00:08What type?
00:09There are just many, many, many types of meditation,
00:12and I suppose they're probably almost all good.
00:14I've only experienced transcendental meditation,
00:17but the type of meditation that I do is a mantra.
00:21Transcendental meditation, I think there are a number of them that have mantras.
00:24And the way it works is there's a sound that you repeat in your mind
00:30that takes your thoughts away from your thoughts and puts them into that sound.
00:35For example, OM might be an example.
00:38And you repeat, and you sit there quietly, and you repeat.
00:42And the greatest problem you're going to have is impatience.
00:45You're going to go into that state of meditation, and you're going to get restless.
00:49And that tells you, you need to meditate.
00:51Because if you can't sit there and transcend and get rid of your thoughts,
00:56you're going to be in trouble.
00:57And think about the power that you have when you can go into that nothingness and experience that.
01:04It's like going on vacation and also being given the gift of creativity and equanimity.
01:10How did I learn to meditate?
01:12The Beatles taught me.
01:13I mean, not literally.
01:15What they did is they went to India, and they came back,
01:18and they told everybody about transcendental meditation.
01:22And I thought, well, okay, that sounds cool.
01:24I'll try it.
01:25And so I went to a place, a little townhouse, where they taught meditation.
01:30I brought my flowers.
01:31I paid my fee, and so on.
01:32And I learned then transcendental meditation.
01:35And, you know, thank God for it.
01:37So when do I meditate?
01:38I meditate usually in the morning before breakfast,
01:42usually in the evening before dinner.
01:44I try to.
01:45I'm not always faithful to that.
01:48And then also when I have the need.
01:51You know, I can feel the difference between being centered and having that equanimity
01:55and not.
01:57When there's stress, when there's tensions,
01:59when there's big things sometimes weighing on me.
02:02And I then know I just need to go meditate.
02:05And I can go into some quiet spot and be there for 20 minutes,
02:09and it just goes all off me, all that.
02:13And then I come out of it, and I have a clarity and an equanimity
02:17that lets me deal with whatever it is.
02:18And then I'm going to do it, and I'm going to do it, and I'm going to do it.
