00:04I've been lured into the world of the Talamasqua.

00:08It's just such an exciting, different kind of journey.

00:18Anne Rice's Talamasqua is an ancient organization which keeps the supernatural and the natural

00:26worlds in balance and has done so since civilization began.

00:32I think what Anne Rice fans can look forward to is a side of the Anne Rice world that was

00:37never really front-center.

00:38If you isolated the Talamasqua out of the rest of the Anne Rice novels, it really would be

00:44a spy story.

00:45If Jean-Luc Array were doing a show with vampires, what would it feel like?

00:49It's a lot of secrets and shadows.

00:51The person who's pulling back the curtain on this whole world is Guy Anatel.

00:57He's a recent graduate from college who's living in New York City.

01:00And he's approached by this lady, Helen.

01:02What's this?

01:03Our organization.

01:04She essentially tells him that his entire life has been a lie and that he's been groomed

01:09by the Talamasqua.

01:10She has grown up within the organization and it's her entire life.

01:15The Talamasqua tracks, observes, and occasionally intervenes and obfuscates in shadow.

01:20Tracking observes and interfering with who?

01:24Going into this world, it's all the skepticism.

01:26I don't believe in witches, vampires, ghosts, or demons.

01:29Nobody does.

01:31Until they meet one.

01:35They're lying to you.

01:37He's thinking that he sees the world in one way, but once the rug's pulled out from under him,

01:42he's going, am I losing my mind?

01:44Why do you want me?

01:45You have a rare talent.

01:47A talent that you can see on.

01:51They're on this journey of finding this information that's gone missing.

01:55So you get your hands on this thing.

01:57What do you do with it?

01:58Keep it from those who might use it to hurt people.

02:35And that to me is exactly what the Talamasqua should be.

02:38Oftentimes in spy stories, a young recruit gets their first foot in the door,

02:42and one finds themselves in a place where they don't know who to trust.

02:46What the hell happened last night?

02:48You're in so much trouble.

02:52But Olive, it's a cat and mouse.

02:54She loves toying with him.

02:55If you want someone to believe a lie,

02:57all you have to do is tell it to them over and over and over.

03:02Guy has met Doris.

03:04Doris is a woman of many secrets.

03:06Do you follow me here?

03:07Doris learned not to trust many people.

03:09What else are you keeping from me?

03:11But I think very quickly she comes to realize that Guy is out of his depth.

03:17These characters have a complicated set of motives and motivations.

03:21You do realize you're going to get that poor boy killed.

03:24Guy begins to take things into his own hands.

03:27What he finds is not what he expects.

03:30They're using you, kid.

03:32He's instantly surrounded by half-truths at best.

03:39Life is cheap in our show.
