00:44Pero, I mean, it's always fun to be with somebody else in a scene, obviously, to have somebody else to play off of.
00:52Pero, at the same time, having full control of what's going on in my character and being stuck in the forest by myself was also a feat and really fun and challenging.
01:02So, I mean, they're both great for different reasons, but I had a good time.
01:14Pardon me, how difficult was the process of casting?
01:19How do you find these persons that are so creepy, you know, in a good way, okay, in the movie?
01:25You know, casting is actually one of the most fun things that we get to do, and it's interesting.
01:31You see them all come in, and it's really guttural, is the only way I could explain it to you.
01:35You maybe see, like, 30 people for the children, and somehow or another, you always just seem to go to one or two where you're like, that's it.
01:45You just sort of know because you've had it in your head.
01:47So, yeah, they all ended up being creepy because they're supposed to be for the strangers, so it worked out the way it's supposed to be, except for Mads, of course.
01:55And, but no, it's just, you just know.
01:58It's just an instinctual feel it, at least for me, in your gut.
02:02So, tons of fun, my favorite thing to do.
02:04In terms of dynamic during the shooting, you have a lot of scenes outdoors, raining, night.
02:21So, yeah, your face told me everything.
02:24How difficult was that?
02:26It was actually, especially the original shoot in Slovakia, I wouldn't use the word difficult.
02:33We had such a good communication on set, and it was fun.
02:38Like, I knew what I, I read the scripts, I knew what I was signing up for, I knew that I wanted to do it, so I was just game.
02:43We were like, fuck it, let's ball, honestly.
02:46Absolutely, but I have a funny story.
02:48Oh, God.
02:49You have to run these stories by me before we do press, seriously.
02:50No, you'll like this one.
02:51You'll like this one.
02:52Okay.
02:52So, we were doing, actually, a reshoot for movie two in Los Angeles, and that particular, I'd say, of those, I think, 12 days that we did, 11 of them were, her drenched in rain the entire time.
03:08Oh, yeah.
03:09So, and she would just have to go into it, come out of it, and then another take, go into it, come out of it, so she's literally, like, wet all day long, and so hard.
03:18It's, like, really, like, terrible, like, I wouldn't want to do it.
03:21But, so, we made, I think, about three days in, this special suit for her that could actually fit underneath the hospital gown that she was wearing, but you wouldn't see it.
03:31We need to put a photo of it out.
03:32And it was almost like a wet suit, but it was, like, and it was hilarious, but it kept her more warm than she was.
03:39And happier.
03:39Yeah, and happier.
03:40Yeah, so there's an example of the weather.
03:42We actually created that weather.
03:44What did it feel like?
03:47It felt like they liked it.
03:48It was some kind of ritual.
03:51But it's been going on for years.
03:54Without giving away anything, the first movie was, like, okay, this couple.
03:59This second movie is the whole town, and we explore all the psychological aspects of Madeleine, because we see the movie through her eyes.
04:11What we can expect from the next chapter?
04:14Chapter three?
04:15Yes.
04:16Without giving away.
04:17Because at the end of the movie, we have, like, some hints, and I was, like, whoa.
04:21Where is this thing going?
04:23So chapter three, I can tell you, is an entirely different movie.
04:28It goes even darker than chapter two.
04:31And I, it is, and I'll let Matt speak for herself.
04:36It's my favorite of the three.
04:38Usually in a trilogy, you're sort of like, oh, the third one's not going to be that good.
04:43The third one, A, ties everything up for the audience, but B, goes somewhere that I feel confident saying a horror movie hasn't really gone before.
04:54It's actually fresh and interesting, and where we go is not what you expect, and it's not the same type of movie as one and two at all.
05:03It's in the same universe, obviously, but it goes somewhere else very, like, excited for people to see chapter three.
05:10My personal favorite is chapter two right now, but I promise you when I'm back here in Miami in whatever, however many months I'm here, I'm going to tell you three is my favorite.
05:18You can't pick a favorite child, though.
05:19That's crazy.
05:20Well, I mean, you know, this is true.
05:22I've always said two, if we were likening it to Star Wars, is like the Empire Strikes Back to Star Wars.
05:28I have to say, I haven't watched Star Wars, so I actually don't know what you're talking about.
05:31But I will say, I always think of the second movie in a trilogy of films to be a bridge, like it's a bottle episode.
05:37Like, it doesn't actually have much purpose, but I really believe, as a standalone movie, this is wonderful.
05:42As a fan of horror.
05:44So it just excites me that it's like, this isn't just a random thing to get you from one to three.
05:47It actually is like a real movie that can stand on its own.
05:50Please, please come watch Strangers Chapter 2 in theater September 26th.
06:04September 26th.
06:06So close.
06:06So soon.
06:07Oh my god.
06:20Oh my god.
