A review has found errors in Tasmania’s 2024 senior school exams were mainly caused by understaffing at the body that regulates exams. Tasmanian assessment, standards and certification says it's making changes to ensure mistakes won't be repeated this year.

00:00It was the exam fail that left more questions than answers.
00:07Last year, 11 errors in TCE exams left Tasmanian students feeling rattled and confused.
00:14Now, an independent review has made 34 recommendations for one of the state's education regulators to improve its practices.
00:22Those recommendations provide a really clear set of actions that the board needs to put in place
00:29over the next few years in order to ensure that we do meet the needs for our students and the learners.
00:36The report found that insufficient resourcing at TASC created a higher risk of error.
00:42The recommendations include improving salaries to help attract staff and hiring a copy editor to review the exams.
