00:00Josh McDaniels talking about the offensive distribution,
00:03the way they're going to balance things this week.
00:07And basically, you get into trouble when you start feeding it to one player
00:10over and over and over again.
00:11I can't help but listen to a comment that Josh Allen had earlier this week.
00:15I heard the same thing.
00:15Did you?
00:16Yeah.
00:16Okay, so Allen had a comment where basically he's like,
00:18it all opened up for me when I felt like we didn't need to get specific people to ball.
00:23Which to me is like, he's talking about digs.
00:25I know he is, but also like,
00:27I feel like that is pretty dismissive of how important digs was for his career.
00:31I'm just telling you what he said.
00:33And I'm telling you what Josh McDaniels said last year, too.
00:37He was like happy digs was gone.
00:38Diggs is involved.
00:39Yeah.
00:39I mean, most teams have been happy when Steph Diggs leaves.
00:42Okay, but he was asked about why his turnovers went down.
00:45And that's what he talked about.
00:47So rather than taking accountability for some of your dumb throws.
00:50Oh, Allen.
00:51And I love Josh Allen.
00:52But I'm just saying like, he's like, well, yeah, now I just throw the open guy.
00:56Oh, so sorry.
00:57When digs showed up and you threw for an extra 1500 yards and you were a runner up in the MVP his first year there.
01:03He, you were borderline out of the league after two years at Buffalo digs shows up, really put you on the map.
01:10You figured out how to play quarterback at that point.
01:13And maybe now you're not feeding the ball to step digs as much.
01:16So the turnovers are down, but I don't know.
01:18So are the touchdowns in the yards.
01:20And when was you, did he win the Superbowl last year?
01:22The year digs left.
01:25Did you go to the Superbowl?
01:26No.
01:26Okay.
01:27They didn't go there with him either.
01:28I just, I was like, come on.
01:29They're the, they're the bills.
01:30So the answer to those.
01:31They're not going to, not his fault.
01:32No, but I, again, like I like, I like Allen, but that just seemed like a direct attack at digs.
01:36Like he's so much better.
01:37Now the digs is gone.
01:38It's like, no, no digs made you a whole lot better.
01:40You've maintained that good play, but you haven't won jack.
01:43Like you've, you've, you've gone just as far, but it speaks to trying to force a ball to
01:47someone.
01:48And in fairness, I don't, I don't think May's forcing the ball to digs at all.
01:52In fact, I think we both want digs more involved this week.
01:55Right?
01:55So I acknowledge that's a hard balance where I want digs more involved.
02:00Three targets isn't enough, but I also don't want it to a point where Drake may is locked
02:03onto him and now he's the only guy he's throwing to.
02:05So there's a balance there, but I think there's a pretty big gap between three targets last week.
02:10Yeah.
02:1010, 11, 12 targets where you're locked onto a ball game, like somewhere in the middle
02:14to me would be pretty reasonable.
02:15I agree.
02:16He should get more.
02:17He's not as good as he once was.
02:18So he probably, he doesn't need to get 16 targets a game, which is really what the pace
02:22was with Buffalo.
02:24But I don't know.
02:24I always thought it was a bit of like a misnomer where Tom Brady's favorite receivers, the
02:29open receiver, like, or is it Welker and Moss or is it Edelman and Gronk?
02:34Do you know?
02:34I don't know if it really was.
02:35I think early in his career, you could maybe say that because it was guys like Brown and Patton
02:39and Givens.
02:39Oh yeah.
02:40But then it got to a point where you're like, no, his favorite receivers, Edelman and Gronk
02:43and it should be.
02:44Yeah.
02:44That changed over his career.
02:45But early in his career, I agree.
02:47Early in his career, I think that was, but people kept saying it as it went on and you're
02:50like, Wes Welker has like 1600 yards receiving.
02:52I'm pretty sure his favorite receiver is Wes Welker.
02:56Yeah.
02:56So I would like to see a little bit more there with Stefan Diggs involved this week.
03:02But again, you don't want to latch on to him and you don't want the turnovers to pile
03:05up.
03:06And so the Patriots offense versus that Carolina secondary, which did get some big
03:09turnovers last week and one going away in a game that I certainly didn't see coming.
03:15That is this week's Verizon matchup.
03:17Again, Drake May, the turnovers against that Carolina secondary.
03:20Your Verizon matchup.
03:22The New England Patriots are powered by Verizon 5G.
03:26You think they clean it up this week?
03:28Keith, you said yesterday in your 60 second preview.
03:30Yeah.
03:30Which you can check out at Jones and Keith on social media, Twitter and Instagram.
03:34You said yesterday they could turn it over two times and still beat this Carolina team.
03:38I maybe they can.
03:40I wouldn't consider that cleaning up turnovers though.
03:42No, no, no.
03:42You'd like to see it go back the other way.
03:44I'm just saying they turned it over five times and almost still went down the field and tied
03:50the game, forced overtime against the Steelers.
03:52And the Steelers, I think are better than the Panthers.
03:55So that's why I said, I don't think it's one of these, you have to have no turnovers like
03:59next week when you play Buffalo, I might say that I might say you have to have a no turnover
04:02game to beat Buffalo, but I think you can still get away with it.
04:06It wouldn't mean like, Hey, there's nothing to see here.
04:08They're all set.
04:09But if that ends up happening, I think they can still overcome that and still beat Carolina.
04:15But no, hopefully it's a game where there are very few penalties.
04:18There's no turnovers and we see a big step forward and a, you know, great Drake May performance
04:22and everything else.
04:23Um, what do you think they do with Stevenson and pop this week?
04:27So I think they both play now, pop Douglas, do you read into it all that pop was on the
04:32show this morning that he might be playing?
04:34Well, I don't know.
04:35I mean, we had Christian Ellis on our show on Monday and he got benched.
04:39He played, but he played the day before.
04:41Yeah, true.
04:42But like, I still don't know if he doesn't play or doesn't play much this Sunday.
04:46Will we still have him on Monday?
04:47Maybe I read more into the guys being on the show or not based on injury.
04:53Like, I don't think they let a lot of guys that are hurt and pop Douglas isn't hurt.
04:58Um, but I do think he's active.
05:01I do.
05:02And I think that he, now he already wasn't, it's not like he's going to go from being the,
05:06getting the most snaps at the position to the least snaps.
05:09He's already down there anyway.
05:11Fourth on the depth chart.
05:11Yeah.
05:12So yeah, I think he could still be out there.
05:14You know, if they, if they think he had a good week of practice and if they think he was
05:17saying the right things or whatever, maybe he learned from it.
05:19I think he's, I think he's still out there.
05:21It's a shame.
05:22I wouldn't.
05:23I wouldn't either.
05:23I wouldn't.
05:24And you know, if they lose the game and Stevenson and Douglas are active, I'm going to turn
05:28around and look at it and go, you know, Vrabel, Vrabel didn't send a strong enough message
05:33this week that turnovers aren't acceptable and not knowing the situation in a winning
05:38clutch spot isn't acceptable.
05:40Now, in fairness, if those guys go out and play, well, we'll give Vrabel credit for pushing
05:44the right buttons, but I wouldn't play those guys this week.
05:47I wouldn't give either one a uniform.
05:48I say that absolutely same.
05:50However, my guess is they both play.
05:52My thought is this.
05:53I think Stevenson is active.
05:55I think the way they're talking about Stevenson, Stevenson might get like a token benching to
05:59start the game, but he's going to, he's going to play and play a lot.
06:01And I think pop Douglas may not, may get a uniform, but may not see the field.
06:04My thought with Stevenson would be, he certainly doesn't start.
06:07And then let's see what Henderson looks like.
06:09And if Henderson misses a block again, he should look good.
06:12The Carolina right is atrocious.
06:14So he should look good.
06:15Whoever has the ball should look good.
06:16He hasn't yet.
06:17And he's gotten carries, you know, he's not getting 20 carries, but nobody is in this
06:20backfield.
06:21So like he has gotten carries.
06:23He has not made the most of it.
06:24If he starts out and he's averaging two yards to carry and he misses a block on a pass play,
06:31I think they're going to be quicker to put Stevenson in.
06:34If Henderson goes out there and plays as well as you and I think that he can, maybe just
06:37kind of ride that hot hand and then sprinkle in Gibson.
06:39And then you're like, see, we're sending a message, but, um, but it's really more because
06:43they're, they're doing well without him.
06:45If you can't start Travion this week, what'd you draft him for?
06:47I don't know.
06:48You don't need Ramondre.
06:49Gibson fumbled last week.
06:50This is the week to turn over the backfield to Travion Henderson.
06:53And if you don't have confidence in him, you shouldn't have drafted him.
06:55And if he can't do it, we're going to look at it and say, maybe you shouldn't have
06:58drafted him, but this is the week to do it.
07:00But I also wonder this week, if Ramondre Stevenson, whether it's the first, second
07:04or third, fourth quarter, if he fumbles, like, what do you do?
07:08What's the response?
07:10Like, I feel like, I mean, what, like from us?
07:12No, no, no, no, no, no.
07:14What is Ramon doing?
07:14Yeah, we'll be off the TV.
07:15I'll spit out my beer.
07:17No, like, what do the Patriots do?
07:18Because that's why I think sitting him for the whole game is even better.
07:22Then you come back.
07:23It's further removed.
07:24Not that it wouldn't be impactful anytime he fumbles again, because now that that tag
07:28is on, we don't, we don't have our pound of flesh and he sat down and we're fine.
07:31Yeah.
07:31That's what I think.
07:31If he goes out there and fumbles this week, play and fumbles on Sunday, I wouldn't even
07:35be mad at him.
07:35I'll be mad at Vrabel for putting him out there.
07:37This is what Curran said earlier this week.
07:38And I agree that I, I, the person to be mad at if they put him in that spot again and
07:42he fumbles is Mike Vrabel.
07:44So it's a big, big week for Mike Vrabel this weekend against the Carolina Panthers.
07:49We said that going into the Dolphins game, he came through, but it's already the second
07:52time in a month.
07:53We're like, boy, Vrabel's back's kind of against the wall, which I did not see coming.
