00:07Thousands of students and job aspirants,
00:09most of them preparing for competitive exams,
00:11poured onto the streets of Dharwar under the banner of the Akhil Karnataka Vidyarthi Sangatana.
00:15What began as a call for jobs,
00:17now erupted in what some in the state call Karnataka's very own Gen Z protest.
00:21Here's what the protesters wanted.
00:23Release all pending government recruitments immediately.
00:25Provide at least 5 years of age relaxation.
00:28Review errors in the Kannada translation of the KS notification and cancel it.
00:32For these aspirants,
00:33the delay in the examinations and recruitment is nothing short of betrayal.
00:37Posts from police constables to other state jobs remain vacant.
00:40Exams are postponed, opportunities slip away and frustration is mounting the alleged.
00:45And on 25th September, Dharwar came to a standstill.
00:48Protesters blocked vehicular movements, allowing only ambulances to pass.
00:52The city took nearly 4 hours to return to normalcy as major roads were choked with traffic snarls.
00:57More than 5,000 students, mostly from competitive exam coaching centres, took to the streets,
01:02raising slogans against the government for failing to fill long pending vacancies in various government departments.
01:07For years, candidates have urged the Karnataka government to raise the age limit for police constable recruitment.
01:12Yet, successive administrations have ignored the demand, leaving thousands of aspirants frustrated.
