01:12So they try to get into the luxury tax.
01:13How do they retool this team to where they want to be?
01:16Because the expectation is when Jason Tatum is back and fully healthy, this team is back and competing.
01:21So now you can start judging what he is in this ownership group for what it is.

01:25What type of owner do you think he's going to be?
01:27Because here we've had all different kinds.
01:29We've had some that you never see or hear from.
01:31We've had some that literally the kid runs the team.
01:34We've had Robert Kraft early on in his tenure.
01:36I think he spoke a little bit more.
01:38He's sort of elevated to a certain spot in the league now where he'll still do the occasional interview here and there.
01:43But you always see him in all the games.
01:45Where do you think Chisholm is going to come down in all that?
01:47Yeah.
01:47I think you're going to see him courtside a lot.
01:49He's going to be very present.
01:50He's going to be very on hand.
01:53And he made that clear yesterday.
01:54He's like the best seat in the house.
01:56I'm excited to watching from there.
01:57And I hope for the most part he made it kind of seem this way that he was going to let Brad Stevens drive the basketball decisions.
02:03And obviously he's going to be the one that signs off on things.
02:06He's the owner.
02:07He's the governor.
02:08He's going to have to do that.
02:09But he's going to be present.
02:10He's going to be there.
02:11And, you know, I think in terms of the day-to-day stuff, he'll be involved.
02:15But it sounds like Brad Stevens is going to be the one driving the ship.

02:19I mean, number one, Wick was even there yesterday.
02:22That surprised me.
02:23And he's much more dynamic and engaging than Bill Chisholm.
02:26I think that was pretty striking.

02:32And then I was surprised at a couple of answers Wick gave us yesterday.
02:34Like, number one, he knew the sale was happening for 18 months.
02:37So he gave us or he's known he knew 18 months ago, rather, which means he knew like February or March of the year they won the title.
02:44So now we can really put a timeline on that.
02:46All the nonsense he talked about, parades and everything.
02:48He knew way in advance.
02:50He wasn't blindsided by it like he's claimed in the past.
02:53So he confirmed that yesterday.
02:54The other thing I found interesting is when Bill Chisholm was getting kind of peppered right off the top about, well, there's a board.
03:01And do you actually have final say?
03:03He's like, well, it's me and Wick.
03:04And then final say comes down to me.
03:06And I'm like, is that for appearances?
03:09Is Wick still going to have a big say in what's going on?
03:12I mean, he said he was going to be here forever and he's going to be still involved.
03:15And I'm fascinated by this whole dynamic that the old owner is staying on board and is going to have a pretty prominent role in the organization as an alternate governor.
03:24I mean, I just can't recall another situation that's been like that.
03:27And the whole dynamic is just fascinating to me.
03:29I asked Bill Chisholm about it, Bragg, yesterday about just the business side of it.
03:34And having a guy like Wick Rosebeck who's been doing it for two decades and having him by your side, helping you walk through this, start getting your feet wet and how to kind of handle it.
03:43And he said that Wick Rosebeck's kept him out of trouble.
03:45So I think that dynamic is fascinating because I think right now it's important.
03:48But over time, does it wear old that the old owners right there still very much involved?
03:54I would think.

03:55I'd imagine that was mostly for appearances yesterday and like stroke and Wick's ego.

04:00I think the most surprised sell in the NBA, because there's been a bunch of them, is Mark Cuban.

04:07And then he's like, well, I'm still going to be a part of it.
04:09And you're like, is he though?
04:11And you're like, all right, maybe he is.
04:12And then like Luka gets traded and he's like, I would never do that.
04:14You're like, okay.
04:15So you don't really have much of a say.
04:16With that, I wonder, you know, Brad Stevens' role in all this.
04:21You mentioned what Chisholm sort of said about him.
04:23But Brad's now been here not that long, but he's already had to hire a couple of coaches.
04:27He's now going to be working with like a different ownership group.
04:29How do you think his relationship is going to be with everybody in the front office now?
04:33I mean, most of it is rolling over from the old regime.
04:36I mean, there's a couple of new faces, Bill Chisholm, Aditya Maitel.
04:40Like those guys are new, but for the most part, it's the same crew that he's been working with.
04:43And they have a smaller front office.
04:45So, I mean, he's really used to working with these guys.
04:48So I think it's just going to be consistent Brad Stevens.
04:51And, you know, with this team, where they're at right now, I mean, that's the guy that you'd want running this team.
04:56I mean, trying to turn them around.
04:57Well, Wick said it on Greg's show.
04:59He's like, thank God for Brad Stevens.
05:01Yeah.
05:01Because they got to balance the books and they got to do all this stuff.
05:04But they feel like he's the guy to do it.
05:05There's got to be some frustration with him, though, where he's like, Brad.

05:09I built the roster that could win a title.
05:12When healthy, this team is the best team in the NBA.
05:15And now you're telling me I got to blow the whole thing up.

05:17And they gave an answer yesterday.
05:18And they did it a couple of different times, which tells me it was a talking point going in.
05:22Brad brought it up.
05:22And Bill Chisholm brought it up to you guys yesterday and in a one-on-one with Forsberg.
05:27Well, hey, if we're in the second apron, acquiring Derek White in the first place, acquiring Drew Holiday, those aren't possible because you can't aggregate salary, blah, blah, blah.
05:34And then they just kind of brushed aside that not only are they below the second apron, which I'll give them, but now they're like borderline getting out of the luxury tax.
05:41Like, they didn't really do a satisfactory job answering the second part, which just sounds like saving Bill Chisholm's money.
05:48So, yeah, I didn't really buy it.
05:50I never really bought the second apron stuff because you could just have talented players you didn't necessarily need a Derek White-Drew Holiday deal when those guys are already on the roster.
05:57Yeah, it's like $12 million over the salary luxury tax right now.
06:02So we'll see what they do with that, and they'll address that towards the deadline.
06:05I also thought it was interesting when they were discussing just the moves over the offseason that Wick Rosebeck butted in and was like, these were going to happen no matter what, regardless of the sale, these were going to happen.
06:15And he's been pretty persistent with that.
06:17But he said that on Greg's show, I think it was in March, right around the March Madness tournaments he was on.
06:22And he said, you can't live in the second apron right now.
06:24That's just the nature of the NBA and obviously Jason Tatum's injury complicated things.
06:29And, you know, the roster came up short last year.
06:31So you're going to run it back with a half a billion dollar roster for a team that couldn't beat the Knicks in the second round.
06:37And it's just kind of hard to justify, especially when your best player is not on the floor.
06:41So the second apron and...
06:42But he might be on the floor.
06:44Well, like for most of this year, he might be on the floor.
06:46And that was another interesting update from Brad Steven yesterday where he's fully, he's on pace to make a full recovery, which it seems.
06:52And Jason Tatum did his media blitz earlier this week and made it pretty clear that he wants to play.
06:57That was the first time I was like, oh man, like this might actually happen.
07:00I think the direction of the team really matters with that.
07:02I mean, depending on where they're sitting, when he's trying to come back.
07:06But if you look at it, like the 10 seed last year, I know that's a very low seed and they're in the play.
07:11And like there were 10 games under 500.
07:13Just Jalen Brown, Derek White.

07:15Like that team, they're not going to be that bad under 500.
07:18I kind of put them at like 44 wins, somewhere around there, 45.

08:24Yeah, and it just feels low that, you know, I think Chisholm – when you buy the team,
08:29you're obviously hoping that Tatum's healthy.
08:31Then you're like, all right, he's not.
08:33So this way we can sort of, like, kick it down the road and save some money.
08:37But then it does complicate things even further when you're like –

08:40And then you're looking around the roster and you're like, all right, you've got Tatum and Brown,
08:43two of the 15 best players in the league, and you're like, why is the rest of the roster like this?
08:47And the whole luxury tax thing is interesting to me because they'd have to be under it for two straight seasons.
08:52And the expectation would be – I mean, maybe you do it this year, but what's that really going to save you?
08:56I was going to say, with Tatum and Brown's contracts alone, it's going to be tough to be below it.
08:59And then Tatum White's going to kick in.
09:00So it just – if you have to do it two years in a row, the expectation when Jason Tatum is back for a full season –
09:06I know he could be back this year and he's left that door open.
09:09But more so of next year.
09:10When he's back for a full year, presumably, you're fully healthy going into the year.
09:14You have Derek White, Jason Tatum, and Jalen Brown healthy.
09:17The expectation will be this team is spending again and they're going all in.
09:20So, I mean, I can't imagine that the luxury tax is that much of a deal breaker.
09:26That's the expectation.
09:27And I guess I'll believe it when I see it out of Bill Chisholm because when he does it here with the Celtics,
09:30it'll be the first time.
09:31Instead, he's gone the other way.
