00:00What is it about this Cowl Group that sets it apart from everywhere else?
00:04I think we're very unique in the sense that we bake all our products as well as roast our own coffee as well.
00:12Where most companies do either or, we actually bring the beans in, we roast it ourselves and we bake fresh every day.
00:22Yeah and you've got quite a few different locations now haven't you? You've expanded but your main bakery is in Sheffield right?
00:28Yeah so the bakery is in Tennessee and then we have a number of locations. We've got three in Sheffield.
00:34Obviously we sat in Low Reserve, Cowl Group Hill today which is a bit different to the other ones.
00:41Then we have one that's very student focused on Division Street and then obviously the one in Meadow Hall as well.
00:49And then we have locations in Chesterfield, Nottingham and Leeds.
00:54Yeah and you're explaining to me that it's a very Sheffield focused business or local business.
00:59Do you want to explain a bit about that?
01:01Yeah absolutely. One of the founders actually studied at Hallam University and then decided to settle here and start the business.
01:10We employ all local people as much as we can and we also feel it's important to use local suppliers.
01:20So from the company that help us fit out all our shops to the company that supplies our sign writing to the milk that comes from a local dairy called Our Cow Molly.
01:32We try and do everything locally and support the local economy as much as we can.
01:38Yeah and that kind of means you get a mix of people don't you? You have students but you also have pretty much everyone coming in.
01:44Yeah I think different times of the day there's different people that come in.
01:48So in the morning we have pretty much the regulars that come in every single morning.
01:53Then later on in the morning we have a lot of moms with kiddies in prams and they take over one of the areas, park up the prams and have a catch up which is great.
02:04Hearing the babies and kiddies and stuff and you see these kids grow up.
02:08And then later on in the day we have business people coming in for an event or a meeting with somebody else.
02:16You have the students come in pretty much during the day as they wake up.
02:20They come in later on in the day.
02:22And then in the afternoons often we have people that work at the hospitals perhaps on the way home.
02:29Popping in for a loaf of sourdough or having a coffee with a colleague.
02:33Yeah and if you were walking in for the first time today what would you recommend people try from the menu?
02:39So obviously all our pastries are freshly baked every single day but I like the banana bread and the carrot cake.
02:50So the banana bread is vegan as well so if you are a vegan that's obviously very very healthy.
02:56I think it's all very good sometimes too good.
03:01But yeah I think banana bread, the carrot cake, the pastries and take home a sourdough loaf with you.
03:07So thank you all for being able.
