00:00Good morning, my name is Phil Hewitt, Group Arts Editor at Sausage Newspaper. It's lovely to speak to Cade Ed Barron today of the theatre company Maybe You Like It. Now, you're coming kind of home, really, with all your Chichester Festival Youth Theatre connections, coming to the Nest at Chichester Festival Theatre with probably the best titled show so far that the Nest has seen. Sorry, brackets, I broke your arms and legs. Close brackets. Explain.
00:29What's that about then?
00:31Of course, it's about a 12-year-old who is so desperate to become head boy of his prep school that he has broken the arms and legs of another student and has been sent to the hospital to apologise and in order to make the best impression he can, he's prepared a PowerPoint presentation to apologise to that student.
00:50It sounds cracking. It's the second show from the company, isn't it? But it is, in a sense, coming home because you were in part of the Youth Theatre for so long with your sister, Elspeth.
01:00Absolutely, yeah. Me and Elspeth both went through the Youth Theatre through the satellite group that was in Lee Park and we both performed in different Youth Theatre shows.
01:10Elspeth was in Noah. I was in The Witches. So we both have had that kind of pedigree of learning and exploring theatre through the Youth Theatre at Chichester.
01:20So for us, yeah, to come back to The Nest, I mean, it's kind of been a dream of mine to get my work on at Chichester Festival Theatre.
01:26So having The Nest there as an opportunity to do that at an earlier stage in my career than I might otherwise is just, yeah, absolutely amazing. Very excited.
01:34Have you had a chance to look at The Nest yet?
01:36Funnily enough, so I've not been to The Nest yet, but it was, before being The Nest, it was a small venue that the Pleasants had in their London space.
01:46Yes. And so this show has been performed in the old version of The Nest, when it was at the Pleasants, last November.
01:53So there's kind of two homecomings for the show here.
01:56Wow. How do you get a reminder on that? It's been performed in that venue before, but in a different location.
02:02Exactly, yeah. It's very strange. I mean, I also, I hear that The Nest has been sort of redone as well in Chichester.
02:09So we're looking forward to seeing all of the new, like, sort of gizmos and gadgets that they've got in there as well.
02:13Well, it sounds fantastic. So, Sorry I Broke Your Arms and Legs is in The Nest on Friday, October the 24th.
02:21Caleb, really lovely to speak to you. Thank you.
