The Immigration Department detained 24 Filipino nationals, including women and children, during a pre-dawn enforcement operation against illegal immigrants in Labuan on Friday (Sept 26).

Labuan Immigration director Raymond Entalai said the detainees, aged between six months and 40 years, were picked up in 'Ops Sapu' raids on two foreign settlements around the island.

00:21The operation followed four days of intelligence gathering, during which 71 individuals were
00:26inspected, comprising 39 foreigners and 32 Malaysians.
00:32Of these, 24 Filipinos were detained for violating Section 6 of the Immigration Act 1959-63.
00:42The detainees have been taken to the Department's Enforcement Division Office for documentation
00:47and further investigation.
