00:00It's been a lot, I would say. Feel free to word vomit, but it feels like a poor choice of terms.
00:05Oh my god. You had to get that in there, didn't you?
00:08I mean, I gotta start with that because, listen, I was out there, as you know, I had no idea that this was happening.
00:15Where did this come from? Was this like sort of an affliction you had the entire time you were out there?
00:20Was it just the exhaustion and the challenge?
00:22No, it had nothing to do with the mental, physical, the nervous system. It had nothing to do with that.
00:28I hadn't eaten for three days, took my vitamin on an empty stomach, and it was immediate.
00:35That was frankly it. That was literally it.
00:38And it was unfortunately when there were people around, so I couldn't hide it.
00:42But they got it. They got it on camera.
00:45Well, let's talk about how your game came to an end here.
00:50Because, you know, I was there for your final words.
00:53And you start by talking about how when you sat down, and maybe this was the empty stomach,
00:57things weren't feeling right in your gut.
01:00You know, you said that, like, you and Sophie didn't make eye contact with you.
01:04So, in retrospect, was there, like, a thing or an interaction or something that somebody said
01:11that you're thinking back on of, okay, that was a major red flag.
01:15Clearly, I was the one in the line of fire instead of Annie.
01:18Honestly, no.
01:21I knew it was between, I felt like it was between Annie and I.
01:25Like, I truly felt it was a 50-50 shot.
01:28And when I was sitting at Tribal Council, I had turned to Alex, and this made the show.
01:33I turned to Alex and asked him, you know, am I good?
01:37And he said, yeah, you're fine.
01:40And at that point, I was like, okay.
01:42I was 50-50 on playing the shot in the dark.
01:44And when he said I was fine, then became, like, seven, you know, 30%, I'll use it, 70%,
01:49I won't, because I kind of trust Alex up until that point.
01:51We had built somewhat of a solid relationship, I had felt.
01:55So, it seemed logical, in my opinion, for the Annie vote.
02:00So, no, nothing kind of gave it away, except when they started reading my name.
02:03I was like, oh, my God, they got me.
02:05So, what is your reaction to, again, from our perspective, at least, the reason why you
02:11went home, which was, again, from what was espoused to us, it seemed to really just come
02:15down to, okay, well, Nicole is someone that might not keep up from a physical perspective,
02:19cardio, et cetera.
02:21How do you look back on that rationale?
02:24I think someone has to be voted out first.
02:27And, you know, there was obviously a group forming of, you know, Jake, Alex, Sophie,
02:33Jeremiah, and then Annie and I on the outskirts.
02:36And I think, you know, they rolled a die, they rolled a dice, whatever.
02:40And it was either Annie or I.
02:44I don't know.
02:45And maybe I hadn't ingratiated fully with the group at large, right?
02:49I had a good relationship with Alex.
02:50But then we also saw in the edit that Annie had a good relationship with Alex or was attempting
02:54to form one.
02:54And so, I don't know.
02:57I think it was just luck of the draw.
02:59Maybe one person didn't like me and that they had more say.
03:02I don't know.
03:03Well, I want to talk a little bit more about, yeah, your dynamic within Kella in general.
03:07I mean, I guess to start before we get into individual relationships, did you get a sense
03:11that this foursome was forming?
03:13Because, look, obviously the bromance was incredibly palpable.
03:16Did that expand to the other two people as well?
03:18Yes, yes.
03:19Well, you knew, so my experience out there was you had Jake and Alex, bromance, whatever.
03:25You can't, whatever.
03:26That's always going to be.
03:27Then you also had Sophie, Jake.
03:29And there was that like older brother, younger sister vibe forming.
03:33And then, you know, you saw Jeremiah.
03:36Sophie kind of took Jeremiah in under her wing.
03:39So, I knew that the four of them were working together.
03:42And then it was just finding a spot in that four.
03:45I didn't care if it was number five.
03:47I didn't want to be the first one voted out.
03:48And so, I was like, okay, I'll get number five.
03:49I'll try to fit into this group.
03:51And I tried really hard with Alex.
03:53I tried really hard with Jake.
03:56And you didn't really see that in the episode.
03:58But that was the reality of it.
04:01So, yes, you felt that four.
04:03And then you felt Annie and I.
04:05And Annie and I didn't really click out there.
04:08I'm not really sure what happened there.
04:09But, yeah, you could feel that.
04:11It was potent.
04:13Well, yeah, talk to me a bit more about this relationship with Alex.
04:16Because it sounds like, you know, forgive me if I'm putting words in your mouth.
04:18It did seem like that was maybe the tightest relationship you had out there.
04:22What was it that had you both connect so deeply on a personal and strategic level?
04:26Yeah, he was just so normal.
04:29Like, I remember he was just easy to talk to.
04:31We're both.
04:32He had went on the show and said he was in a consulting, in public affairs consulting.
04:37I'm a consultant.
04:37And so, we clicked on that.
04:39He's from the Midwest.
04:41I went to school in the Midwest.
04:42So, we just, like, clicked.
04:43Like, we had a lot of things in common.
04:44He reminded me of someone that I would have been friends with on the outside, like, before the show or anything like that.
04:50And so, it was just natural with him.
04:52But then, as the days went on, I think, you know, in retrospect, in hindsight being 2020, I had felt him maybe slip on day three from this, you know, relationship that we had built.
05:04And he was more so turning his head towards that bromance, towards that four group.
05:10It's hard.
05:11It's hard to read.
05:12It's hard to read out there.
05:13Well, talk to me more about the Jake side of things.
05:16Because, you know, you talked to me in the preseason.
05:18And you had said, like, if someone goes to the end and talks about honesty and loyalty, I'm not voting for them.
05:22And so, I thought on paper, once I saw your tribe, like, okay, these two are going to be oil and water.
05:27So, talk to me about trying to build that bond with him.
05:30I know.
05:31I tried.
05:31And Jake's a good guy.
05:33Like, I have nothing bad to say.
05:34I think it was just that.
05:36Like, oil and water.
05:38And, you know, Survivor is like a microcosm of the real world.
05:42There are just some people you're not going to be best friends with.
05:44And him and I get along famously.
05:46Like, we're great.
05:48But I think in terms of the game, like, we were not going to work together, per se.
05:55And I don't know.
05:56Sometimes you can't explain that.
05:57Sometimes that's just nature.
06:01So, yeah.
06:02I tried to build that relationship with him.
06:04And he did a good job of making it feel like it was being reciprocated.
06:08So, props to him.
06:10But, yeah.
06:11It just never manifested.
06:13What was your reaction to finding out the identity of the shoe bandit?
06:17Oh, my God.
06:19I thought that was.
06:20I just thought that whole thing was weird.
06:22I have nothing else to say.
06:24I thought that was bizarre, honestly.
06:27I want to talk a little bit about the challenges.
06:29Because, you know, I was there for the immunity challenge.
06:32And you end up stepping up towards the end here with Annie and with Alex.
06:36How did that end up coming about?
06:37Was that a role you stepped up for?
06:39Because you talk about.
06:40And it's talked about by your tribe members as well.
06:41Of, like, look at what they did towards the end.
06:44And they were the ones that lost it for us.
06:45Et cetera, et cetera.
06:46Yeah.
06:47Yeah.
06:48Yeah.
06:49So, we had, like, a couple minutes to deliberate as each pair was going.
06:54And initially, Alex was going to be in the middle at that main spot.
06:58But he was running the last leg of the challenge.
07:01And we thought he might have been too winded, like, after coming right back to run the middle point.
07:06So, I was like, okay, I'll run the middle point.
07:07Because I knew at that point it was between Annie and I for the vote.
07:10And so, I thought, okay, I'm just going to take the bull by the horn on this.
07:15And I'm very competitive by nature when it comes to those things.
07:18So, I was like, we're going to win this challenge.
07:20And I'm taking point and lead on it.
07:21And, like, if we lose, whatever.
07:23At least I know we lost because we lost.
07:26Not because someone threw a challenge or someone could have done better.
07:29Like, I just, I was doing it regardless.
07:31So, I was taking one of the three legs regardless.
07:34When the middle spot opened up, I happily took it.
07:37So, yeah.
07:38And no regrets on that.
07:40No regrets on that.
07:41Yeah.
07:41And listen, you showcased you were a team player through and through.
07:43Considering the unique way you got mud off of Jeremiah's face.
07:47He asked me to spit in his eye.
07:49It didn't make the cut.
07:50He asked me.
07:52And that, I know I didn't think about pouring the water on him.
07:57He asked me to spit it on him.
07:59So.
08:01Well, talking about, you know, the general vibes of Kelly.
08:04You say in a confessional, like, I was looking around at this tribe.
08:07And feeling like we were going to be a handful.
08:09Talk to me more about that assessment.
08:11Was it from a personality perspective?
08:12Was it you sort of forecasting like, oh, no.
08:15Am I on the disaster tribe?
08:16And if so, did that change the way you approach things?
08:19A thousand percent.
08:20It felt disaster tribe-y immediately.
08:23I don't know how to describe it.
08:24You even getting off the initial boat for the marooning challenge.
08:28You could just feel the energy in each tribe.
08:33And there was just some palpable difference in our tribe's energy.
08:37And that might have just been my perception.
08:39But, you know, I felt that off the rip.
08:42That it was going to be a funky group.
08:45Like, it was going to be interesting.
08:49And, yeah, it didn't necessarily.
08:50It did impact the way that I approached the game.
08:53You know, I was trying to come in as more this, like, jovial.
08:56Kind of stupid, frankly, player.
09:00And I don't think that translated.
09:03Like, I think people read me for what I was.
09:06And the group dynamic was just so unique.
09:10It was hard to kind of find your niche and your spot in that group.
09:13If you weren't looped into, like, that bromance or that four.
09:19And I don't know how to describe that.
09:20It was just a feeling.
09:22It's just a vibe.
09:24You know?
09:24It's just a vibe.
09:25Sometimes the vibe is off.
09:27Well, you couldn't find your niche.
09:28But let's talk about maybe finding idols, perhaps.
09:31Because I would imagine if you felt like your neck was on the line,
09:33you might have taken to the jungle.
09:34We really saw, like, no idol action or even searching in last night's episode.
09:39But did you or anyone else on your tribe hit the jungle immediately?
09:43Yes.
09:43We went on a group hunt for the immunity idol at one point.
09:49Didn't find it.
09:50But we were in, like, some rock area.
09:54And we spent a lot of time there.
09:55I couldn't find it.
09:56I, at one point, ran off to go get water and tried to look for an idol
10:00while Annie was napping in the shelter.
10:03So, absolutely, there was idol hunting at play.
10:06When we were building the shelter, I was looking around.
10:08Like, at all times, you're looking around.
10:10100%.
10:11I have to finish with one of the last things we hear from you in this episode,
10:14which was you were already forecasting how your loved ones at home would react.
10:19Now, I'm not sure if you had told your family upon your return how you did.
10:22So, maybe they've only had about, like, 12 hours to respond.
10:26But what has the response been from your loved ones?
10:30Is it as you predicted in your final words?
10:33Yeah.
10:33I mean, they thought it was hysterical.
10:35But they also have so much respect for the fact that I went out there and did it,
10:39which I can appreciate.
10:40And they're just so proud.
10:42Like, it's just, you know, one of their kids on TV, one of their siblings.
10:45We've been watching this show since I was little.
10:48So, I mean, it was just like a dream come true for everyone.
10:51Everyone was so happy.
10:52It was – it didn't matter to them that I was the number one voted out.
10:56Like, it didn't matter.
10:56I was on – there's some funny sound bites, all that stuff.
11:01So, yes.
11:02But, yes, it will be the butt of the joke at Thanksgiving, like, 1,000%.
11:05So.
11:06Well, listen, again, you're able to bring a community together, be it a tribe, you know,
11:11be it your family.
11:12You're the great unifier, Nicole.
11:15The glue.
11:16You're the glue.
11:17There we go.
11:18Well, listen, I'm sad that you were not able to stick around.
11:21But I'm so grateful for every chance we get the chance to speak.
11:25I know it was probably not the most ideal way to start celebrating 26.
11:29But, you know, even though you didn't make it 26 days, you made it for three.
11:33And like you said, it takes a lot to just go out there in the first place and especially
11:36undergo a very hard three-day process.
11:41It's such a great time to get to not only watch you bring your incredible personality
11:45to the screen, but to this screen today and getting the chance to talk with me.
11:49I appreciate it, Mike.
11:49It's always fun talking to you, too.
11:51Yeah.
11:51Well, all the best to you and yours.
11:54Enjoy your weekend, Nicole.
11:55And I cannot wait to hear from what's happening with you next.
11:58Hopefully, we'll get a little bit of a revival and see you some musical theater parlance of
12:02Nicole and reality TV soon.
12:05I love it.
12:05I love it.
12:06Thanks, Mike.
12:07Of course.
12:07You have a good one, Nicole.
12:08Thanks again.
12:09You too.
12:09Have a good weekend.
12:10You too.
12:10Bye-bye.
