00:00Taiwan has decided not to go ahead with chip export controls aimed at South Africa, at least for now.
00:07The government announced Tuesday it would start requiring the approval for exports of 47 items, including chips.
00:14That comes after South Africa downgraded and renamed Taiwan's two representative offices in the country earlier this year, as it moves closer to China.
00:22It has also been pressuring Taipei to move its office from the capital, Pretoria, to Johannesburg.
00:27Taiwan's foreign ministry says South Africa is now willing to talk, so the chip restrictions have been paused.
