Conservative MP Nick Timothy said an investigation needs to be launched to look into whether Sir Keir Starmer failed to declare support from the think tank Labour Together during his 2020 leadership bid. It comes after the Labour government defended Keir Starmer amid allegations his closest aide Morgan McSweeney failed to declare more than £700,000 in donations to the think tank which Mr McSweeney was previously leader of. 00:00Well, Keir Starmer is absolutely up to his neck in sleeves. It's not just Peter Mendelsohn and Angela Rayner. Now it's this story about Morgan McSweeney.
00:10What's clear is that Morgan McSweeney, running Labour together, accepted almost £740,000 of donations. He knew he had to declare those donations to the Electoral Commission, and he didn't do so.
00:23Now at that time, they were working for Keir Starmer, and Keir Starmer failed to declare that support to the House of Commons or notify the Electoral Commission as well.
00:31So we need the Electoral Commission to investigate what's happened, pass the files to the police if there's any potential criminal wrongdoing, and we need the Parliamentary Standards Commissioner to look at whether Keir Starmer has broken the House of Commons Code of Conduct.
