00:00Haven't you heard?
00:03I'm a Wicked Witch of the West.
00:05Welcome to Ms. Mojo, and today we're breaking down the final trailer of Wicked for Good
00:10before it flies into theaters in November.
00:13If you're not familiar with the events of Act 2, this is your spoiler warning.
00:17Just look at me.
00:20Not with your eyes.
00:22With theirs.
00:25Harping on the past, aka part one.
00:27Of course, to no one's surprise, there will be a fair few callbacks to part one in this movie.
00:33So naturally, we're already getting a taste of them in the trailer.
00:36For starters, notice how Glinda's celebrations and even her dress at one point stick to a pink and green color scheme?
00:43Pink goes good with green.
00:44We also see her become acquainted with her new mode of transportation.
00:48Do you know what I think it does?
00:51No.
00:54No way!
00:55I'm obsesciolated.
00:58Then there are the two giant posters that get unfurled.
01:02One for Glinda the Good and one for the Wicked Witch of the West.
01:05Beyond the labels, it's a reminder of the choices they made at the end of part one,
01:09and how they led to these titles being placed upon them.
01:13Look at her!
01:16She's wicked!
01:17Kill her!
01:19The Wicked Witch of the West!
01:22You may have also spotted the banner celebrating the opening of the yellow brick road.
01:28Now, if you cast your mind back to part one,
01:31you'll recall that the wizard has a hard time choosing what color would best suit this road that runs throughout Oz.
01:36Glinda is the one to settle on yellow.
01:39The yellow relay?
01:39Well, we guess now's a better time than ever to celebrate its grand reveal.
01:48It doesn't seem to be the only change Glinda's made in Oz, either.
01:51That green train that once took her and Elphaba to Emerald City has now seemingly been Glindified.
01:55We also get moments that seem to directly mirror part one.
02:08Take that shot of Elphaba adjusting her hair.
02:10We've definitely seen that before.
02:13Also, let's take a closer look at some of the choreography.
02:16There's a shot that seems to call back to a certain routine that blew up as a viral dance trend last year.
02:20But what we really want to know is how Glinda now fits into Wonderful.
02:24Maybe the scene marks another crossroads in her friendship with Elphaba.
02:28The last time we saw them dance like this was at the Ozdust Ballroom, when their friendship first began.
02:37Here, it feels like a joyful reunion, with the two of them dancing together alongside the wizard.
02:43Almost like a snapshot of life before that one short day changed everything.
02:47Of course, as fans know, that joy is short-lived.
02:50It's you.
02:51You're behind all of this.
02:55Storyline and key plot points.
02:57Okay, let's get into some of the plot points teased in the trailer.
03:00Much like Act 2, we open on Thank Goodness.
03:03It's more important than ever that you lift everyone's spirits.
03:12As only you can.
03:13We see Glinda's celebration, but also a little more background on how she rose to this role and the perks that come with it.
03:20Fierro is present, though the trailer leaves out that this is also his surprise engagement party.
03:25Still, we catch early signs that Glinda senses his heart isn't truly hers.
03:30You can't resist this.
03:31Who could?
03:32You know who could.
03:33Unlike the previous trailer, this time we get to see a glimpse of Nessa, who has now become the new governor of Munchkinland and rules with an iron fist, earning her the nickname the Wicked Witch of the East.
03:44We already know this scene is likely to play out differently than the stage version, as the original narrative has been deemed incredibly ableist.
03:51Moreover, suddenly being able to walk does not improve her life, so we're expecting some twist that returns the power to Nessa Rose.
04:06The trailer plays somewhat coy about the other huge moment that happens during this number, but it does introduce us to the Tin Man.
04:13That's all we're going to say for now.
04:15What have you done to me?
04:17We also see Elphaba return to the wizard's palace.
04:19In the show, she returns to free the animals.
04:22Indeed, we do see her walk through rows of caged animals.
04:26We even think we spotted that lynx Dr. Dillamond was with in part one.
04:29Speaking of Dr. Dillamond, this shot seems to hint at his return without outright showing us how he and Elphaba reunite.
04:36Although it's a pretty big moment, as you'll know if you've seen the show, and one that cuts abruptly into wonderful.
04:42Listen to me! You're not being told the whole story!
04:46Have we mentioned that Glinda's apparently in that now?
04:48We only mention it again because, in several of the previous trailers, we've been surprised to see them include what looks like a wedding.
04:55Now, again, if you've seen the show, you'll know that Glinda and Fierro's relationship never gets past the engagement.
05:01Fierro leaves Glinda for Elphaba, and in her rage and grief, Glinda helps conspire against Elphaba, which prompts a change in the weather.
05:18However, before we get there, we just want to say one more thing about the wedding scene.
05:21So director John M. Chu essentially confirmed that the wedding was included because it raises the stakes between Elphaba and Glinda.
05:28You can wave that wand all you want, but you have no real power.
05:32Now, and just hear us out, you know there's that moment in the trailer where they try to come up with a plan?
05:38Here's the plan.
05:40I have no plan.
05:42Well, I do.
05:42Oh, thank Oz.
05:43It looks like they're having that conversation in the palace, which is certainly risky, but we digress.
05:49Anyway, what if that stampede of animals through the wedding was the plan?
05:53Glinda let Elphaba sabotage her wedding for a good cause, and Fierro still leaves her.
05:59Come on, can the stakes get any higher than that?
06:01Of course, again, this is just us theorizing, so who knows?
06:04This is the work of the Wicked Witch!
06:06We honestly cannot wait to see what they've done with As Long As You're Mine,
06:10but we also see the moment they're interrupted by the tornado that brings Dorothy crashing down into Oz.
06:15There's a house, and it's flying through the sky.
06:18The next time the two former friends meet is at the scene of the crime after Glinda sent Dorothy on her merry way.
06:24I'm a public figure now. People expect me to fly.
06:27Be encouraging.
06:29If you've seen the show, you'll know how iconic that scene is.
06:32In fact, it's so iconic that it already got a nod back in part one.
06:36We also get glimpses of no good deed, perhaps most notably through a close-up of the Grimery.
06:41Not to mention, they really build up to that finale both through the mob closing in,
06:45and a shot that seems to veer into book territory.
06:48Now, you probably recall back in the first look for part one, and even in subsequent trailers,
06:53we've seen images that we're yet to see in the movie.
06:56Some showed up as deleted scenes, but we have reason to believe that some of those moments are yet to come,
07:01perhaps in a flashback sequence.
07:04There's a shot of Elphaba's boots being taken out of a cupboard.
07:07And while we've seen those boots before, given how they seem to now be in Glinda's closet,
07:11we still need some explanation over how they got there.
07:14Perhaps from that time, they all frolicked in the poppy field.
07:17However, we do wonder if perhaps For Good will be the song to take us down memory lane?
07:22I've heard it said that people come into our lives for a reason.
07:31Perhaps most surprisingly, the show doesn't shy away from revealing its ending.
07:35Anyone who's seen The Wizard of Oz knows what technically happens,
07:39but this is wicked and nothing is ever exactly as it seems.
07:42In case you don't know what we're talking about, we won't say any more on that right now.
07:47We're off to see The Wizard and other nods.
07:49It's already been confirmed that Dorothy will be more of a presence than a character in the movie.
07:54Still, there are plenty of Wizard of Oz throwbacks to spot.
07:57About 10 seconds in,
07:59Glinda poses with a group of young girls who are definitely giving Lullaby League.
08:03The way Elphaba crashes the party also mirrors how the Wicked Witch of the West
08:16interrupts Dorothy and friends in the merry old land of Oz.
08:19It's the Wicked Witch!
08:20Then there's the tornado that brings Dorothy to Oz,
08:26and the house that gets brutally repurposed into anti-Wicked Witch propaganda.
08:30And if you look closely at that bucket,
08:32its purpose is literally printed across the side.
08:35As if any of us could forget what happened to the Witch.
08:38Melting! Melting!
08:40Oh, what a world, what a world!
08:43Who thought a good little girl like you could destroy my beautiful wickedness?
08:48Fans of the stage show get their nods too.
08:50Like the shadow on the wall,
08:52followed by Glinda tearfully clutching Elphaba's hat.
08:55In Nessa Rose's brief shot, her shoes glow red,
08:58mirroring the moment after Elphaba enchants them in the show.
09:01My shoes!
09:03It feels like they're on fire!
09:05What have you done to my shoes?
09:07We also meet the Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Cowardly Lion,
09:11and we can't wait to see how the film expands on their alliance with Dorothy.
09:15You're the best friends anybody ever had.
09:17And it's funny, but I feel as if I've known you all the time.
09:22But I couldn't have, could I?
09:24And one last Easter egg, not from the show, but still for the fans.
09:28We're pretty sure that's the film's choreographer, Christopher Scott, among the photographers.

09:48Musical moments.
09:49We couldn't be happier that this trailer finally dropped.
09:53And really, what better lyric to open with?
09:55Couldn't be happier.
09:58Still, while we hear Glinda sing that she couldn't be happier, her face seems to suggest otherwise.
10:03Still, you can't say that this trailer doesn't start by celebrating the Glinda way, and thank goodness it does.
10:09Because happy is what happens.
10:12Glinda, the good.
10:14And all your dreams come true.
10:20There's also that unfamiliar riff that we mentioned in our last trailer breakdown.
10:28Now, could this be as close as we're going to get to a preview of Elphaba's new song, No Place Like Home?
10:33Or is this Cynthia Erivo's spin on No Good Deed?
10:36It seems highly likely it's from the latter, since it echoes throughout much of the trailer.
10:44But it's not just music you should be listening out for.
10:47There are plenty of visual cues to pick up on, too.
10:50A few shots seem to come from Wonderful, though clearly reimagined from the stage version.
10:55We guess Glinda doesn't just want to be good.
10:57She wants to be Wonderful, too.
10:59I will be wonderful.
11:03And they said wonderful.
11:06There's even a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment of Elphaba and Fierro, which we can only imagine belongs to As Long As You're Mine.
11:18As long as you're mine, I'll give it how you want to, and see how bright we shine.
11:30Chew has promised that the scene will hit harder than ever, saying, quote,
11:34You finally get to feel the ascension that they give each other through the relationship, which honestly could capture this shot, too.
11:40Meanwhile, that mob screams March of the Witch Hunters.
11:44Fans also rejoicified at the confirmation that the Wicked Witch of the East will finally be released on the film's soundtrack.
11:50The number carries so much plot that it was cut from the OBC album.
11:54However, the trailer hasn't shied away from nodding to it.
11:57And, of course, no trailer for Wicked For Good would be complete without, well, For Good.
12:02A comet falls in the morning as it passes the sun.
12:09We see Elphaba and Glinda floating in a pink glow on a broom held up like a swing.
12:13Could it be a new take on the song, or even The Girl in the Bubble, which precedes it?
12:17Either way, whatever expectations we had for this song, or any of the others, will probably be rewritten at the theater doors.
12:24Who can say you haven't changed for the better?
12:30Honestly, though, just hearing Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande sing together has us obsessulated.
12:36And we're fully prepared to weep buckets when we get to watch this number in full.
12:39I haven't changed.
12:43How excited are you for Wicked For Good?
