00:00Welcome to Episode 2 of our game of Tag Across Europe,
00:04where each team is trying to reach a different destination in Europe without getting caught.
00:08Right now, Toby and I are the runners trying to get to our destination of Jersey.
00:12Last episode, we drew a curse that meant we had to backtrack 25 miles
00:16before we could earn any more coins, which we need to pay for our travel.
00:20This effectively stranded us in the small town of Lyon for several hours.
00:24But just as Ben and Brian were about to arrive to tag us,
00:27we were able to escape and are now headed to Reims to clear our curse.
00:31But we're not out of the woods yet.
00:33The other team of chasers, Adam and Michelle, noticed us leaving
00:36and are now sprinting to the train station to try to make a train to Champagne-Adennes.
00:40If they get on it, it'll put them only three miles away from us.
00:44The only trouble is, it leaves in four minutes, and they don't have a reservation.
00:53Okay, find a machine, find a machine.
00:57This machine is busted.
01:04Okay.
01:07Bye, Tegan.
01:08Okay.
01:09Champagne-Adennes?
01:10Yeah.
01:10Here we go, here we go.
01:12157.
01:13Print.
01:14Print.
01:16Okay.
01:18We're on the 1357 to Nancy, yeah?
01:21Because it goes to Champagne-Adennes.
01:231357 to Nancy, yeah.
01:2426?
01:2426.
01:25Okay.
01:31Nice.
01:31Nice.
01:31Okay.
01:32Okay.
01:32Nice.
01:32Okay.
01:32Nice.
01:33Okay.
01:33I'm just triple, triple, I'm just trying to, we're going to get in.
01:44Like five minutes.
01:45I'm 43, I know, I know, I'm, but Champagne-Adennes, you, we will have to take like a taxi or something.
01:50And I'm just making sure, yeah, they can't take a train anywhere useful.
01:56We're good, we're good, we're good, we're good.
01:58I'm, I'm, I'm pretty much certain that this was right.
02:01We're never even sitting.
02:02Our train is leaving Michelle.
02:05Hope we made the right choice.
02:06All right, so we got some time to figure out our next move, but I'm feeling like a freeze.
02:21And I'm feeling like it's...
02:22It'd be a shame not to use it.
02:23We couldn't, yeah.
02:24Yeah.
02:24Because surely one of them aren't around us, right?
02:26Like, how could they not be?
02:30Okay, so just to clarify, Toby and I are discussing using our freeze power-up.
02:34Once per run, we can freeze one team wherever they are for 45 minutes.
02:39Given how long we were in Léon, we strongly suspect one of the teams is waiting for us near Rennes, where we're headed.
02:45The trouble is, we don't actually know where either of the teams are,
02:49so we just have to guess which is the right pair to use it on.
02:52All right.
02:53It's 2.30, we're seven minutes away.
02:55We've got to play the freeze five minutes before it takes effect.
02:59We're declaring it right now.
03:01Over which team?
03:03Adam and Michelle.
03:04I lean towards that.
03:06That's what we've been assuming this whole time, is for some reason they were there.
03:10Just for a collection of reasons, I slightly think it's that way.
03:14Let's declare it now.
03:15Let's declare it.
03:16It's 2.30.
03:16Okay, so at 2.35 and 30 seconds, it takes effect.
03:20So let's hope this train is not more than 90 seconds early.
03:22It'd be cool if it was like 60 seconds early, because then maybe we could make that zero-minute transfer.
03:28We've got another plan.
03:30Yes, we do have another plan.
03:31What do we do if we see Brian then?
03:34I think there's nothing we can't do.
03:36I think that's a GG.
03:49Look at that, Brian.
03:51Oh, wow.
03:52Yeah, that's cool.
03:54I shouldn't be so salty about coming here.
03:55Well, we made it.
04:00They were here 20 minutes ago.
04:04God, they literally got away at the last possible moment.
04:08Well, now, of course, we've hit the, like, one 90-minute gap in the train departure schedule today, where we can't leave.
04:17So now we are stuck here and lay off for 90 minutes.
04:25All right.
04:31It's time.
04:33They're frozen.
04:36In full of them.
04:37Let's do it.
04:38Well, unfortunately, they, um, were smart.
04:44They have frozen us effective now.
04:49Oh.
04:51How do they know?
04:53I think they guessed.
04:56I don't get it.
04:57Damn.
04:58That's really impressive for them to guess, too, that we would be here and not in Paris, that we would have made this train.
05:04It's a good guess.
05:05Man, you've got to hand it to them on that one.
05:08I don't hand it to them for some things, but this one I will.
05:23They might be standing on the platform.
05:25If we sprint away and they search the train, they might even miss us.
05:29Well, they're frozen.
05:31But if it's the wrong team.
05:32Oh, yeah, true.
05:32If it's Ben and Brian.
05:35Oh, how much time do we actually have?
05:44Oh, we have another hour and a half before the train leaves.
05:46Yep.
05:47We can go to the movies.
05:50My face is fine.
05:51Look, we'll see if they make it.
06:20There's nothing we can do but watch.
06:28All right.
06:29Well, welcome to Freezetown.
06:31And we just have to sit here like a bunch of sitting ducks and watch them hop on the train.
06:36Now we have to start figuring out when we can get to St. Malo.
06:46So they can actually get to St. Malo before the end of the day.
06:49Why didn't we come here?
06:56Yeah.
06:57What a great question.
06:59Give me a sec here.
07:00We actually might be in enormous trouble because the ferries leave from St. Malo at 7.30.
07:06Give me just one sec here.
07:09Okay.
07:12Dude.
07:12I'm going to call Ben.
07:14Dude.
07:15I feel like we need a group effort to figure this out because otherwise we're losing the whole game on the first run.
07:21It's going to be cool.
07:22Has been.
07:23Ben, answer me.
07:25What are we supposed to do?
07:35Adam!
07:37Oh, that's, that was the train we wanted.
07:40What was it?
07:40Hey.
07:41That's platform.
07:41That's okay.
07:41We better back up.
07:46Okay.
07:46So some quick clarification.
07:48Adam and Michelle are super worried that Toby and I are about to connect down to Champaign-Ardan
07:52Champaign-Ardan and then make a beeline to St. Malo, but we can't do that yet because we still need to clear our curse in order to make it the last few miles to the 25.
08:01The curse requires, we need to get to a town called Prune.
08:04We were hoping to take the train there, but we just missed it.
08:07So now we have to run and try to make the bus.
08:09But if the bus is quick, we might have just enough time to get to Prune, clear the curse, then hop on a train towards Paris before Michelle and Adam can get unfrozen and catch up to us.
08:18But we've got to hurry.
08:21Come on.
08:22Oh, we need this, we need this light.
08:25Come on.
08:27Four minute, you're four.
08:29All right.
08:30Let's do a little job.
08:31Tar.
08:34Close.
08:35We can make it.
08:38Just need to lock in.
08:39All right.
08:39Watch out for the cobbles.
08:43Beautiful.
08:49We've made it.
08:50Nice job.
08:51Parkland's paid off, right?
08:54How did we get here?
08:56Because what a, like, look at us.
08:59We're facing the prospect of clearing the curse.
09:01Like, if we clear the curse, we're like born again.
09:05Yeah.
09:05It's like our second run has started already.
09:07Yeah, we might be, we might be so back.
09:10We might be so back.
09:11Wait.
09:12They are far away.
09:14Wait.
09:14Is their tram slow or something?
09:16Are they not going to make it?
09:17They should be close.
09:18Yeah, yeah, yeah.
09:18They should be closer to here by now.
09:21Did they take a bus instead of a tram?
09:23Why would they freeze us if they weren't trying to make that connection?
09:27My guess is that they thought we were in rehab.
09:29But then you use the freeze to get your ass out of there, right?
09:33I don't know, dog.
09:33Maybe their bus is delayed or I don't know.
09:36All right.
09:37Well, I hope this bus exists because now it's late.
09:41Oh, that's us behind it.
09:42Come on.
09:42Things just keep working out.
09:50I know.
09:51Look at us.
09:51It's crazy.
09:52We're doing everything just right.
09:54We can never lose, Toby.
09:55It's statistically impossible.
09:56It's statistically impossible.
09:58I believe you now.
10:02I think someone crashed into the bus.
10:05We made it about like 50 feet and now the driver is off the bus and he's having a conversation
10:10with another guy.
10:12He was so off the bus and I made it cool.
10:14They've been in the same spot for a while.
10:16What are they up to?
10:17Why are they just in the middle of the town?
10:19Look, because they're not on the tram lines.
10:21It says that that's where they are.
10:24Are they just in the middle?
10:25Are they just at the cathedral?
10:27Oh, my God.
10:29Wait, this is good.
10:30This is really good.
10:31This is really, really good.
10:33This goddamn roller coaster.
10:36Let me double check with Ben and Adam that this is the case.
10:38Well, Adam is right here.
10:40Oh, my God.
10:41Ben and Brian.
10:42Brian, Sam.
10:43Toby, Sam.
10:44Adam.
10:45Michelle.
10:45Me.
10:46Let me check with myself.
10:49That was fun.
10:50That was fun.
10:52All right.
10:52We're about to go get on our train back to Paris.
10:54Hopefully no more fuckery.
10:56Regardless.
10:57There's not much we can do.
10:58Yeah, I know.
10:59Not much we can do.
11:00In one minute, wherever Michelle and Adam are, they shall be released from their freeze.
11:17We?
11:19Not.
11:20However, have not moved since you last saw us.
11:22The bus driver is still off the bus.
11:25Yeah, it's been off very much.
11:25He's not coming back anytime soon.
11:28It gives them more time to catch up to us here, I suppose.
11:31It does.
11:31Yeah.
11:33But I kind of feel like if they weren't here, I kind of doubt that they were near here.
11:37Yeah, if they weren't here, they were probably not near here.
11:40Yeah.
11:40They probably weren't in Champagne-Nada.
11:44No.
11:45All right, Michelle, we have 30 seconds until our freeze is up.
11:48We literally, during this freeze, have gone through such an emotional rollercoaster.
11:52We thought we lost the whole game.
11:54Okay, let's go.
11:55Let's see if they start moving now that they know our freeze is over.
11:58Yeah.
11:58I mean, my hope is that they are just wrong about where we were.
12:03And so they're like, oh, Michelle and Adam were probably in Paris or something.
12:07The freeze did nothing.
12:08Okay.
12:10Oh, I think we've done it.
12:17He might actually leave.
12:19And they still didn't catch us.
12:21And their freeze ended 10 minutes ago.
12:24I wonder if they're, do you think they're...
12:26They could have run.
12:27They could have run.
12:28They're about to find out we're leaving.
12:30That would be funny.
12:31But this almost makes me think a little bit more that they're not here.
12:34That they're not here.
12:35I think there's a really good chance they're just not here at all.
12:38They're just both in Paris.
12:40Yeah.
12:41I mean, again, it's counterintuitive for us to have gone here because it's in the wrong direction.
12:45Yeah.
12:46And we are once again going in the wrong direction.
12:49Yeah, I don't know where they could be going.
12:57I mean, they're definitely on something.
12:59They're not walking, I don't think.
13:01Yeah.
13:01They're definitely on a bus.
13:02Okay.
13:03I'm starting to...
13:04We need to figure out what the hell they're doing.
13:06They're not coming towards us.
13:09No, they are not coming towards us anymore.
13:12Why?
13:13Where are they going?
13:16They're on a bus?
13:18To where?
13:19Where are they going?
13:21Oh my God.
13:22Are they going to the airport?
13:23I think it's possible.
13:24This is the bus you would take.
13:26But how are they going to make that last...
13:28This is exactly the bus you would take.
13:29I don't know.
13:30I don't know.
13:31It says that it's not like a commercial airport.
13:33So like maybe it's just...
13:34That's why I am confused.
13:37What else could they be doing?
13:38They're going...
13:39Where are they going?
13:41Where could they possibly be going?
13:44Here's the thing.
13:44But I think that we need to consider getting in a taxi and going towards the airport.
13:50Okay.
13:51I'm calling an Uber to the private airport.
13:54I'm just saying, regardless of what they're doing, we need to go out with them.
13:58You know, it's like, I guess the trouble is if we catch them, I don't know what the f***
14:01we do then.
14:02Right.
14:03Yes.
14:07Bonjour.
14:08Hi, do you speak English by chance?
14:11No, I don't.
14:11No, okay.
14:12It's okay.
14:26Hey.
14:28You see what's that whack?
14:31Bad and look.
14:33Is that where we're going?
14:35Quite.
14:36But it's good, old man.
14:37Okay.
14:37They're still moving.
14:38They've kind of passed the airport area.
14:42They're starting to reach the limits of how far they can go.
14:44Okay.
14:45Now they have hopped to Prune.
14:47Okay.
14:48Yeah.
14:48They switched up to Prune.
14:49Okay.
14:49Good.
14:50That means they're just still riding the line.
14:52All right.
14:58We've made it to where?
15:01Prune.
15:03Prune.
15:06All right.
15:07You got your phone.
15:07I got my phone.
15:12Well, they're not here.
15:13That's good.
15:14I didn't expect them to be here.
15:17Yeah.
15:17But it's always good.
15:18They're always where you least expect them.
15:20They probably didn't expect us out here, but we could stay here a little while.
15:25Well, yeah.
15:26We might as well clear our curse and then pull a challenge.
15:29And if it's one that we can do here, we might as well do it here.
15:32Yeah.
15:33And I honestly don't expect them to arrive all too soon unless they were back there, you know.
15:39Do you have them in Val de Vess or Prune?
15:41Prune.
15:42Okay.
15:43So we're rerouted to Prune.
15:46We'll be there in five minutes.
15:50All right.
15:54We're almost at the spot.
15:55I think once we pass that red thing, we will be cleared.
16:00Cleared.
16:03We're free.
16:04Oh, my goodness.
16:05I didn't think I'd see this time.
16:06I really did not either.
16:08I thought we were done for.
16:09You want to pull a card?
16:10Okay.
16:11No double ups left, unfortunately.
16:13Make it good, Toby.
16:15Make it good in one that we don't need many materials for.
16:19There's a little load out here.
16:20Come on.
16:22Come on.
16:24Show it to me.
16:24Show it to me.
16:25Take to the skies.
16:29Take to the skies.
16:30Acquire or construct an object that you will send into the sky.
16:33You must make a prediction for how long it will stay in the air, and coins are earned based
16:38on your predicted duration, if fulfilled, rather than the actual airborne time.
16:42If your object flies for less than your prediction, this card is automatically vetoed.
16:47We can do this.
16:48We can, but what's weird is that it would have been way easier at our old location.
16:53It would have.
16:53Yeah, I don't know if we're getting a tower here.
16:56All right, well, let's walk back to the center and think about how we'll do this.
16:59If we wanted to just clear this, we could do like a one-second prediction.
17:03I mean, looking around, there's nothing really tall, so I don't know if we'd ever get a very
17:08good...
17:08I'm just looking for like a ledge.
17:11I'm literally going to throw up.
17:12I'm literally going to...
17:13Adam, I'm going to throw up.
17:14Don't throw up.
17:15I'm going to...
17:15I'm going to vomit.
17:16Okay.
17:17This is so intense.
17:19Like, just this rollercoaster.
17:21I hate it.
17:22But it's fun.
17:24Yay.
17:25Oh, here's Pranay.
17:26Oh, it's cute.
17:28Yay, Pranay.
17:30There's a little ramp.
17:32Scaffolding.
17:32Anyway, what you were saying about the town hall is that it's got a little ledge to stand on.
17:36That actually was not what I was saying, but I agree.
17:39We got a nice shot.
17:48Is that Toby?
17:49Yeah, that's her.
17:50In the pink?
17:51Okay.
17:51Right here.
17:52Can you let us out right here?
17:54Right here?
17:54Can we get out of here?
17:55We'll get out right here.
17:56No, no, no.
17:57It's okay.
17:58They don't see us.
17:58Yeah.
17:59They don't see us.
18:02I feel like at one point in my life, I was very good at paper airplanes, but at that
18:06point in my life has passed.
18:07I'm going to make a paper helicopter.
18:09That's smart, actually.
18:11Yeah.
18:12All right.
18:12All right.
18:13Um, here's what I think you do.
18:14Go for a token.
18:17All right.
18:17I think you just go for it.
18:21Yeah.
18:21Go.
18:21It's right.
18:22You go that side.
18:22You go that side.
18:23Okay.
18:36One second.
18:55What?
18:56It was the panting I heard.
19:07It was so scary.
19:08That was awesome.
19:09Congratulations.
19:10So you guys have like 20 billion coins now?
19:13Yeah, about.
19:14Yeah.
19:14Okay.
19:15Bye-bye.
19:16Bye-bye.
19:16Bye-bye.
19:17Oh, my God.
19:20Oh, my God.
19:21We just passed the Bechdel test.
19:22Whoa.
19:29Yay.
19:29We said a few words to each other.
19:32Bye.
19:33Bye.
19:33Bye.
19:33Bye.
19:34Well, I don't like that they caught us, because this is a lot better of a spot for Zermatt.
19:40Oh.
19:41Okay.
19:42So we really only have one option, which is to go back to Riem.
19:47We need to figure out which way the train station is.
19:50Yeah.
19:51This way.
19:51They're going to make fun of us for going the wrong way.
19:55It seemed like it was this way.
19:56Actually, Michelle, we maybe should talk.
19:58Because I'm realizing we might want to do a challenge.
20:01Yeah, they're reappearing.
20:03Oh, well, they went the wrong way.
20:04That's why they're coming back.
20:05What time was that train?
20:07It's not for a while.
20:08I don't know why they're running, because they have plenty of time.
20:11Okay.
20:11Here's what we need to figure out.
20:12Should we do a challenge?
20:14Right now?
20:15Actually, Michelle, hold this.
20:18I'm going to pull a challenge right now, because there's exactly...
20:2131 minutes until our train, so if we have to veto, we need to do it immediately.
20:26All right, ready?
20:26Okay.
20:28Oh, my God.
20:29I was so nervous.
20:33Locate the chasers.
20:34You have three chances to place a single point on the map.
20:37If a team is within 10 miles of that point, you earn coins.
20:40If you get all three guesses wrong, this card is automatically vetoed.
20:45Awesome.
20:45Perfect.
20:46We just did that.
20:48Yep.
20:49So we win.
20:51We win!
20:53Okay, great.
20:53Slay.
20:54So, where are Ben and Brian, actually?
20:57They should be on route back to Paris.
21:00Can you figure out exactly where they would be on that route?
21:06Ah, they f***ing did it.
21:08All right.
21:08Oh, I set up too quickly.
21:10We just got word that...
21:12I guess we should get off.
21:14Oh, sure, yeah.
21:18All righty.
21:19Well, Sam and Toby have been caught, which means we've got to get off here and start our
21:2545-minute jail period.
21:27I guess that means that Sam and Toby are kind of our allies now.
21:31Our allies now.
21:32Should we collude with them?
21:34I don't know.
21:34I think we have to.
21:35I think we have to.
21:36I think we have to.
21:37Even though I'm still a little bit mad at them.
21:38We just have to, like, make sure that we do not set them up for a catch.
21:44Yeah, let's go get set up and then call Sam and Toby and see what they know, because
21:49they might know something that we don't.
21:51Yeah.
21:51Oh, I feel like they know a lot of things that we don't.
21:54I have a few questions for them.
21:56I have so many questions.
21:58First of all, how dare you?
22:00That's a good question.
22:01I think we should start with that.
22:03This is a hilarious card to get right now.
22:05We'll get 800 coins, which is pretty good and probably enough for us to make our train
22:10to Strasbourg.
22:10Oh, my God, yes.
22:10To Strasbourg.
22:11They were coming back from Léon to Paris.
22:15Yeah, to Paris.
22:15They said they would arrive at 530.
22:17Okay, I can figure out what train that is then.
22:19Okay.
22:20So, surely then, they're on the 336 back to Garda Nord.
22:25So, I think that they are between Villers and Cripp.
22:30Okay.
22:32I've put in our Ben and Brian prediction.
22:35All right, Brian.
22:40We need to figure out where Adam and Michelle are going and how we can get in front of them,
22:46as always.
22:47As always, this is the game.
22:51The game.
22:51This is how the game works.
22:52The game is afoot.
22:53That is the game.
22:54The game is afoot.
22:56And we are afoot.
22:58Also.
23:00Oh, they just did we predict the same thing.
23:03Yeah.
23:04They must be that challenge and finally, um, face us.
23:08That's a bit cheeky.
23:09Okay.
23:10So, that's 800 coins for us.
23:14That is enough now for us to get to Strasbourg.
23:16What do we do now?
23:18We wait for our wonderful train.
23:20Well, I guess what we do is we figure out...
23:22How do we get to Strasbourg confirmed without them pegging us?
23:28Should we call up Sam and Toby?
23:30We're like all of them now?
23:31Yeah.
23:32Let's see if they know anything.
23:33Because they ended in such a specific spot that I sort of hope that is good for us.
23:39Hello.
23:40Hello, friends.
23:41Hello.
23:42Uh, y'all are not in the best position for this, for catching Catapult's show.
23:49Not necessarily.
23:50No.
23:51No, we have someone to thank for that.
23:52We'll get the details later.
23:54We'll get the details later.
23:55Sam, are we just off the bat?
23:58Are we in a...
23:59What kind of position are we in?
24:00We thought it was so over, but we've just recently come to the conclusion that it could
24:04be so back, but so back in the way that they would realize it's so back, and therefore
24:09frees us to prevent it from being so back.
24:11Because basically, here's the dealio.
24:13On first glance, I thought we were going to be in one of these situations where the rest
24:18period gives them a big advantage.
24:19Because they're getting on a train now to pass.
24:22They can get down to Champanat down pretty quickly.
24:24And from there, there's a 605 train to Strasbourg, gets them in right before the rest period,
24:28bing, bing, boom, done.
24:29And almost certainly, they want to go to Strasbourg.
24:32Yeah, it's pretty good.
24:32However, we can get an Uber to Champanat down station directly and get that same train.
24:40So either we would catch them in Champanat down station, or at the very least, we would
24:45get the train to Strasbourg and be in Strasbourg, be in, you know, get to the German network.
24:49However, they would probably figure this out and freeze us.
24:53And freeze you.
24:53Yeah, and they're wired.
24:55I think that they're going to figure out every possible move.
24:58All right, Michelle.
25:00Let's get on our train.
25:02Yay!
25:03It's all going to be fine and even good.
25:06Yeah, yeah.
25:07Okay.
25:11I wish there was air conditioning in here.
25:12I thought this is hotter than it is outside.
25:15Okay, Michelle.
25:17Hi!
25:17We're on our train to, as Sam said, huh.
25:21That's the way that he pronounced it.
25:23Reams.
25:24So, once we get to Hurt, then we're going to transfer to Champanat down, but then we have
25:31to wait like a little over 45 minutes before the train that we want to take, which is kind
25:36of lame.
25:36But, ultimately, we're strong and we will persevere.
25:42We always do.
25:43Unfortunately, I think the only way out of this is that we have to use our one-team freeze.
25:48Yeah.
25:48Because while we had to take this slow train back to Champaign-Ardenne from this random
25:54place that we were, Sam and Toby could take a taxi like we did.
25:57Right?
25:58And then they would beat us there and then they would catch us.
26:00So, we need to freeze them about 40 minutes before our train leaves to account for about
26:07a five-minute delay.
26:09Okay.
26:09I think this is us.
26:10I got your cord, Adam.
26:17I'm putting it back in your pocket.
26:19This one's air-conditioned.
26:20That's nice.
26:21Okay.
26:22So, we'll get to Champaign-Ardenne as fast as we can.
26:25We'll let you know what happens.
26:26On our side, we're happy to collude.
26:28We're happy to share locations.
26:29And, you know, I think with this team, we need to give it our best shot.
26:35All right.
26:36Well, we'll share our locations with you for now.
26:38Yeah.
26:38For now.
26:39We will have a train to Paris at the end of our rest period so we can get to Paris and
26:46maybe look at how we can get, position ourselves to get to Strasbourg tomorrow.
26:51Yeah.
26:52Well, I don't know if Yale should come to Strasbourg.
26:55You could get on a very fast train down to, like, Lyon.
26:58Like, the trains to Lyon are lightning fast.
27:01They are literally, like, the fastest trains in France.
27:03From Lyon, you could pop over to Geneva.
27:06Once you're in Geneva, you're on the Swiss rail network.
27:08And position well.
27:10Just a classic question of, like, how much ground do we want to see?
27:13Okay.
27:14We'll look at our options and we'll let you know.
27:16Mm-hmm.
27:17We also, uh...
27:18Okay.
27:18We want to talk them, too, so...
27:20That's fair.
27:22We'll see what we can do.
27:23We'll let you know.
27:24All right.
27:25Enjoy Paris.
27:25Goodbye, Sam.
27:26Bye, Toby.
27:27Bye.
27:27Okay.
27:28Okay.
27:28Well, at the very least, we're in the better position.
27:32Okay.
27:33Cheeky.
27:34Cheeky.
27:35Cheeky boy.
27:35Look, the fact of the matter is, though I do not want to work with Sam and Toby, he is
27:40not wrong.
27:41Yeah.
27:41They can beat us to Strasbourg.
27:43It would be kind of pointless for us to go to Strasbourg.
27:46Oh, yeah.
27:46Yeah, I think we probably need to get ahead of them in Switzerland.
27:49You're grimacing with your full body.
27:52It's gonna be great, Brian.
27:54We're 100% gonna nail this.
27:56Let's go to the platform and at least not f*** up the first stretch of this particular plan.
28:02Yeah.
28:02Get back to Paris.
28:04Okay.
28:04Oh, dear.
28:13Oh, Paris.
28:20So, Michelle and Adam are at the station.
28:25That wasn't already clear to you.
28:26They've made it back.
28:27Yeah.
28:27The question is, did they just play a freeze?
28:30We haven't gone on it yet.
28:32So, they didn't play it, you know, immediately.
28:35As soon as we get in an Uber, it's kind of like a train where if we get frozen in it,
28:39we just have to get off the next stop.
28:43The stop is considered where we plan for it to go.
28:46So, once we're in it, we're going to Champagne-Ardelle for sure.
28:48We might get frozen once we're there and that could still stop us from getting on that train.
28:52All right.
28:53Okay.
28:53One minute away.
28:55Let's get ready.
29:01Oh.
29:01Oh, Sam.
29:03Oui.
29:04Champagne-Ardelle.
29:05J'ai dit.
29:06Oui.
29:13Okay.
29:13We have to assume they're in an Uber there now.
29:16Yeah.
29:17We have to assume that.
29:18We're going to get to the train station at 518.
29:20Right.
29:22It's possible that they could have arrived by then.
29:25We just need to last until 530.
29:28Yeah.
29:29That 10-minute period.
29:31Yeah.
29:32So, here's Adam and Michelle's dilemma.
29:34Right now, it's 4.58 p.m.
29:37The train they want to take to Strasbourg leaves at 6.09, which is in 71 minutes.
29:41But the freeze only lasts 45 minutes, meaning if they froze us now, we would be unfrozen with enough time to tag them before their train leaves.
29:50So then, you would assume, they should just wait until 45 minutes before their train will leave and then freeze us.
29:55The problem there is that by that point, we will be in Champagne-Ardelle, where they're headed, and could tag them before the freeze could start.
30:03So, in order to freeze us at the right time, they need to find a way to kill time without getting caught.
30:08We should assume they will be arriving around 522.
30:13Yeah.
30:13Which, unfortunately, is right around when we arrive.
30:16No, so we should get off early.
30:19So, I think that the safest move would be to get off a stop early, because I think that that is the least—that's not predictable.
30:29I don't think that they would have guessed that they should go there.
30:32And then we can board the next train.
30:34We can freeze them and then board the train to follow.
30:37How much time are we sitting ducks there?
30:4015 minutes, which I think would be okay.
30:44So, we just have to get off the train and kill 15 minutes and not get caught.
30:47Yeah, and then freeze them.
30:49I'm so stressed.
30:50I can't.
30:52Okay, are we getting off?
30:53Yeah.
30:54Okay.
30:54Oh, my God.
31:00Oh, something else that we should probably do is we should go ahead and pull a challenge right now.
31:04Adam, I did a bad job pulling straws this morning.
31:06I'm really nervous about this.
31:08All right, pick one.
31:12Get lucky on coin flips.
31:15Get lucky on coin flips.
31:17Get a coin to land on heads seven times in a row.
31:20Good luck.
31:21That's fine.
31:22We'll just do that for the whole time that we're hanging out here.
31:24Do you have a coin on you by any chance?
31:26Uh, no, I don't.
31:28Do you?
31:29No, I don't think I do.
31:31Okay.
31:31Let's look on the ground.
31:32Yeah, I've found that finding coins on the ground is harder than you might think it would be.
31:37Okay, and we're positive they're not rerouting to us right now on their e-book.
31:40Oh, we're not positive about that at all.
31:44They might be doing something weird.
31:46It's like they got out at this random station, right?
31:49Yeah, this throws a wrench into things because now we have a bit of a choice probably.
31:54Do we take this line and try to, uh, try to catch them?
31:58Seven in a row?
31:59Yeah.
32:00Damn, that seems hard.
32:02Yeah, there's been a lot of sort of discourse about if this is basically impossible or not.
32:07I don't really know.
32:09Has this been accomplished previously?
32:11Uh, no, I got close.
32:13I got to six three different times.
32:15Come on.
32:29All right.
32:30Yep, it's out.
32:31Let's see if we can find, like, a store so that we can get a coin.
32:36All right.
32:37Let's buy something cheap.
32:38Is that sunscreen?
32:39Yeah.
32:40I think we should walk back so we can call it from the tram.
32:45Walk back where?
32:46Where do you want to walk back to?
32:46To the train station.
32:47Why?
32:48Because...
32:49It doesn't leave till, uh, 542.
32:51I don't think we should walk back to the train station.
32:53I think that's the easiest place for them to go.
32:55I think that we need to try to get into, like, these weird streets.
32:58I hate this feeling of being chased.
33:00This sucks.
33:01Oh, yeah.
33:01You'll get used to it, though.
33:02I don't like it.
33:03Oh, my God.
33:07That child running.
33:07Yeah, that was scary.
33:08There was a kid running behind us.
33:11The thing that really starts to get you is whenever you hear a sound, what's funny is
33:15the audience knows where they are.
33:16They know that they're probably not anywhere close to here.
33:18They're right there.
33:21What?
33:22They're so close.
33:23Okay.
33:24Well, actually, here's what they might be doing.
33:27They could be doing a challenge because they have a later train.
33:30They could take that to Champanard-Den and still make a TGV.
33:35I feel like they probably will have thought through this, and therefore, we will probably
33:39get frozen, probably fairly soon.
33:42If they're playing as we thought, they would play.
33:44They'll get a freeze and probably a minute or two.
33:47All right.
33:47Merci.
33:57It's 526 now.
33:59Would you like to activate it now?
34:00Yeah.
34:01Okay.
34:01526.
34:02So we're starting at 531.
34:04Yep.
34:04All right.
34:05I think that we shouldn't stay in this field for too long.
34:08It's probably going to be fine, and probably all of this is going to get really cut down
34:11because it was never relevant in the first place.
34:13We're making our way back to the train station, but we're doing it funky style.
34:16Oh, we should be flipping coins.
34:18As we go?
34:19Yeah.
34:20Okay.
34:21All right.
34:21Here.
34:21I'm going to give you a coin, too.
34:22Okay.
34:23To see seven in a row.
34:24That's one.
34:27That's two.
34:28I can't do this while moving.
34:29Nope.
34:29One.
34:32Nope.
34:34One.
34:35Two.
34:37Three.
34:39Four.
34:40We're at four.
34:42Five.
34:44Just two more.
34:46Six.
34:49No.
34:50Are you kidding me?
34:52Yeah, it's how it goes sometimes.
34:57I know.
34:58Every sound is very frightening.
35:00Are you going to let them know?
35:01And Michelle, the freeze is active.
35:04We have not been tagged, and they are frozen now.
35:08Oh, my God.
35:10I hope you like this bench, because it's our home.
35:12Well, you brought some snacks for you.
35:13For the next 45 minutes.
35:15We done got frozen, Toby.
35:18It's okay.
35:19I think we'll catch them up somewhere else.
35:21I mean, it's kind of what we anticipated to happen.
35:23At least we got here, and we're not stuck out there.
35:26In the middle of nowhere, yeah.
35:28All right, let's go back to the train station.
35:30And while we do, let's flip our wonderful coins.
35:32One, two, three, four, five.
35:43Nope.
35:44Nope.
35:45Nope.
35:46Nope.
35:47Nope.
35:48Oh.
35:50Nope.
35:51Isn't this fun?
35:52Let's check.
35:54Let's check how soon.
35:55Oh, this could be really important.
35:57Let's check our first train to Strasbourg in the morning.
36:00Oh.
36:02Oh.
36:05Oh.
36:06Our first train to Strasbourg in the morning is 8.41 a.m.
36:108.41?
36:12We can't.
36:13We want them.
36:14That would give them a four and a half hour lead.
36:17That's...
36:18That...
36:19We can't deal with that.
36:23Yeah, that's a lot.
36:23But, um...
36:25That is bad, Toby.
36:29That's a lot.
36:30We might be done...
36:32We don't...
36:32Might be done f***ed.
36:34As they say in the biz.
36:36Toby?
36:36I mean, can we send Ben at Brian?
36:39Well, it might just be...
36:40It might be kind of their game at this point.
36:42Okay, Sam and Toby have been frozen, as predicted.
36:52So, I think that that is going to give Adam and Michelle a clear path to Strasbourg.
36:59I mean, yeah, it's like we can get to, like, Basel by, like, 10.30 tomorrow morning.
37:05But that's the fastest we can get there.
37:08And I feel like that's not going to be fast enough.
37:11What else could we do?
37:13What about Zurich?
37:14Is it possible for us to get to Zurich?
37:16Zurich?
37:18Uh, look into it.
37:20Are we going by Charles de Gaulle right now?
37:24Or is it the Reiner?
37:26Reiner isn't crazy.
37:27We position ourselves at the airport.
37:35Like, is there, like, a flight to Zurich first thing?
37:38Probably.
37:39Let's see.
37:40There's a...
37:416.45 gets into Zurich at 8 a.m.
37:44That might actually be better.
37:47Than going to Dijon?
37:49Yeah, it is better.
37:50God, I think that this actually gets us in front of them quickly.
37:53Yeah, and this is allowed?
37:54Oh, it's allowed.
37:56It's never been done.
37:57But it is allowed.
37:59Should we tell Sam and Toby?
38:01No.
38:04We have to commit to that right now.
38:06Yeah, let's get off.
38:07It's five miles away.
38:13Let's make sure this flight is real.
38:15Well, it's real.
38:17I'm booking it.
38:18All right.
38:19Airport it is.
38:21That gives me more hope, honestly.
38:24A little bit more hope.
38:25I wasn't, I wasn't, like, too jazzed about spending another four hours on a train, honestly.
38:32Well, let's, let's wake things up.
38:34Yeah.
38:34One, two, three, four.
38:44Nope.
38:45Nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope.
38:48Isn't it crazy how quickly I got to six?
38:50Yeah.
38:52Nope.
38:52Okay.
38:53Let's figure out if we're on the right side.
38:55There should be a departure board over there.
38:57I need to know.
38:58One, two.
39:02No.
39:03See, it's such a fun game.
39:05It's so f***ed up that I drew this challenge both times we had it.
39:08That's one.
39:09Two.
39:11No.
39:12One.
39:16Three.
39:18Was that four?
39:19It was three.
39:20Oh, God.
39:21Are you having so much fun flipping the minions?
39:23I'm going to have lots of fun when we're on that train to Strasbourg.
39:26You know what I'm saying?
39:28Thank you for booking, Ben Doyle.
39:29I believe it.
39:30Yeah, you're very welcome.
39:32Boom.
39:346.45.
39:34First ever flight of tag.
39:41No one is going to see this move coming.
39:43That's what I like about it.
39:44Unless they do, but they're not.
39:45My main concern is just being on the play, like on the play board.
39:49I don't want us like off on the side, not being helpful.
39:52No, it's true.
39:53I mean, frankly, if Adam and Michelle really get in front of Sam and Toby, they could just
40:00win.
40:01100%.
40:01Yeah.
40:01So, us being in Zurich at least gives us the assurance that, like, we are in front of
40:06them.
40:06Yeah.
40:06Yeah, yeah.
40:07Okay, let's go to the airport.
40:09I sure hope this isn't stupid.
40:11I sure hope there aren't very brilliant teens at home watching this who have figured out
40:16why this is so stupid, and they're commenting, this is so stupid, Ben and Brian.
40:20Why are you doing this?
40:21I think it's a good idea.
40:22Yeah.
40:23I mean, I've been there watching it and been like, oh, why did you do that?
40:27But it's completely different when you're in the moment.
40:30I know.
40:30We're trying to do good.
40:31Leave us alone.
40:41All right.
40:42Back to flipping.
40:45One.
40:45It's honestly so frustrating how quickly I got the six.
40:48It made me feel so much hope in my heart.
40:50I know.
40:52No.
40:54Oh, there they are.
40:56Oh, they're probably searching for the station.
40:57Hey, guys.
40:58Hello.
40:59Hello.
41:00What's up?
41:00Should I chill in?
41:03It was really annoying that we had to use that, but we sort of had no choice.
41:06Yeah.
41:07Anyway, you want to watch me flip a coin seven times and have it land on heads every time?
41:11You again.
41:11Okay.
41:12Here we go.
41:14Nope.
41:15All right.
41:15But this one's going to be it.
41:16You ready?
41:17Yeah.
41:17Nope.
41:18All right.
41:18But this one's going to be it.
41:20Nope.
41:21But this time it's going to be it.
41:23This time it's going to be it.
41:26That's crazy.
41:26That's five tails in a row.
41:28If I get seven tails in a row, I'm going to f***ing kill myself.
41:31All right, Michelle, let's sit down.
41:32Let's get in.
41:32Let's get in.
41:33I know.
41:33You guys have no idea what we've been through today.
41:37Enjoy your peace over there.
41:40Three.
41:41Nope.
41:42It's here early.
41:52Yeah, yeah.
41:52It won't leave for ten minutes.
41:54Michelle, we still have ten good coin flipping minutes.
41:56Okay.
41:57Great.
41:58One.
41:58There's still a chance they'll get distracted enough to miss it.
42:01No.
42:02No.
42:04One.
42:05No.
42:07Oh, my God.
42:08One.
42:09That was fine.
42:11Three.
42:13Four.
42:15One.
42:15Nope.
42:17One.
42:19Two.
42:20Two.
42:20Three.
42:22Four.
42:24Five.
42:26Six.
42:26I'm at six.
42:40Let's go!
42:41Oh, he's finally done it?
42:45Oh, my God!
42:47Go, Adam!
42:50Woo!
42:51All right, Michelle, let's get on our trip.
42:56Bye!
42:57Bye!
42:57Bye, Toby!
42:58Bye, Toby!
42:58Bye!
43:00That's what I have to say to you.
43:01Good job.
43:02I'll politely say goodbye, because I think you guys are great.
43:04You lit those coins really well.
43:07Bye, guys!
43:09Way to go.
43:10That was awesome, Adam.
43:12Thank you so much.
43:12Get your revenge.
43:12I did it.
43:14You did.
43:14Nobody believed in me.
43:16All right.
43:16Let's give Mr. Benjamin Doyle and Mr. Brian a little call.
43:22Sam's calling us.
43:23Uh-oh.
43:24You want to take this, Brian?
43:25I fold so quickly.
43:27I'm way too honest.
43:28I fold more quickly.
43:28I'm such an honest person, I can't help it.
43:32Sam and Toby.
43:33Hello.
43:34What's your status?
43:36So they just got on the train to Strasbourg, so obviously we're not going to get on it
43:40unless it gets mega delayed.
43:41Our only real choice is, like, we have a couple trains back to Paris, mostly to Charles de Gaulle,
43:48so not downtown.
43:50We checked, and there's not really an advantageous flight in the morning.
43:56When do you get back to Paris?
43:57When could you get back to Paris?
43:59We could get back by the rest period, basically.
44:00Okay.
44:02And so are y'all going to make it to Dijon?
44:08Probably not.
44:09No.
44:09We are not going to Dijon.
44:13Are you being...
44:15We're being coy.
44:17Well, f*** you.
44:18Then we're not helping.
44:19Bye.
44:20Okay.
44:21Okay.
44:22Okay, goodbye.
44:22Bye-bye.
44:23Wait, wait, wait.
44:23I shouldn't leave my bag by itself.
44:28Why does Sam think...
44:29Oh, he's calling us back.
44:34Hello again.
44:35Okay.
44:36I'd like to negotiate because there's so little value in this point in the game.
44:40Okay, okay, okay, okay.
44:42We are not going to Strasbourg.
44:43We are trying to get in front of them.
44:44Okay, if you don't tell us what you're doing, we're going to Paris.
44:47Then we should tell them what we're doing.
44:56Okay.
44:56Look, we're in a bad situation right now.
44:58They're about to get a huge head start.
45:00We can't afford to not cooperate.
45:04Well, we figured out how to get ahead of them.
45:06Okay, great.
45:08We're going to...
45:09There is a 645 from Charles de Gaulle to Zurich.
45:12You mean flight?
45:14Yeah.
45:15Flight.
45:15You think you can get through Charles de Gaulle security to the terminal in 45 minutes?
45:21I think we could try.
45:23We're going to end our day.
45:25It's risky, but how busy can it be?
45:27Charles de Gaulle Airport is like hell on earth.
45:30It is hell on earth.
45:32It is, in fact, my least favorite airport.
45:33I've gone on the record.
45:34Look, if you make it, that's great.
45:36However, I just think that that's massively risky.
45:39And now we don't have a good secondary route.
45:42If you took the first train in the morning towards Lyon or Geneva, then you can physically get in front of them.
45:51At best, we can get to Basel at like 1030.
45:55But that is guaranteed in front of them.
45:59I don't know if it is.
46:01And you don't need to go to Basel.
46:02You need to get to like Geneva.
46:04Look, I think the flight is going to work.
46:08It very well might, but I just think that that's a very risky plan.
46:11What do you want to do?
46:13I don't know.
46:14We now have to go back to the drawing board.
46:16Okay, go back to the drawing board and let us know what you're going to do.
46:19Okay, maybe.
46:20Bye.
46:21Okay, bye.
46:23We'll see.
46:23Sam is king of underestimating how quickly people can get through airport security.
46:28I think this is our Uber.
46:31Bye.
46:32Bye.
46:33Bye.
46:34Bye.
46:34Bye.
46:35Bye.
46:35Bye.
46:35Bye.
46:35Bye.
46:35Bye.
46:35Bye.
46:36Bye.
46:36Bye.
46:37Bye.
46:37Bye.
46:37Bye.
46:38Bye.
46:38Bye.
46:38Bye.
46:38Bye.
46:39Bye.
46:39Bye.
46:45Okay, well, that is annoying.
46:47I think that's good for them.
46:49That's actually great news because I think they'll make it.
46:52Yeah.
46:53I think that this is better than them going to Dijon.
46:55I think it is slightly likelier than not that they will make it.
46:59However, it's just so risky.
47:00And I think there would have been a train route that would have been safer for them.
47:05Oh, we're going.
47:06We're going.
47:06We're going.
47:07We're going.
47:07We're going.
47:08We're going to be there, OK?
47:09We're going.
47:09We're going.
47:10There's the way.
47:15Bye.
47:15Bye.
47:24Someone can think they would go to Paris and fly.
47:28I think somebody should fly to Bradley, Geneva.
47:31We'll see.
47:33We need to look at what their options are.
47:34Basically, their options might be really, really bad.
47:37Well, hey there.
47:48Thank you for watching this episode on Nebula.
47:51And, well, hey there.
47:53Why not check out the Layover podcast?
47:55This episode, we've got Toby on.
47:58And it's going to be a lot of fun.
48:00I got a gripe.
48:01Okay, great.
48:02You know these children's shows?
48:04You know what I hate about them?
48:05That they're not for adults.
48:06Yeah, the kids are gatekeeping Paw Patrol and s**t.
48:10Yeah.
48:11And they don't let me watch it.
48:13They don't let you?
48:14No.
48:15So what we did is we made a children's show for adults.
48:18We, as in Nebula and Maggie Mae Fish and her creative team,
48:21decided to make a children's show for adults.
48:24It's pretty great.
48:25It's called Amy's Den and Dream House.
48:27They talk about cool things like friend breakups
48:31and other weighty subjects like that.
48:34I had a friend breakup when I was little,
48:36but Amy's Den and Dream House didn't exist yet,
48:39so it destroyed me.
48:41Yeah.
48:42All right.
48:42Well, watch that.
48:43Pretty good.
48:44Bye.
48:44Bye.
48:44Bye.
48:44Bye.
48:44Bye.
48:45Bye.
48:45Bye.
48:45Bye.
48:45Bye.
48:45Bye.
48:45Bye.
48:45Bye.
48:45Bye.
48:45Bye.
48:46Bye.
48:46Bye.
48:46Bye.
48:46Bye.
48:46Bye.
48:47Bye.
48:47Bye.
48:47Bye.
48:47Bye.
48:47Bye.
48:47Bye.
48:47Bye.
48:47Bye.
48:47Bye.
48:47Bye.
48:47Bye.
48:48Bye.
48:48Bye.
48:48Bye.
48:48Bye.
48:48Bye.
48:48Bye.
48:48Bye.
48:48Bye.
48:48Bye.
48:49Bye.
48:49Bye.
48:49Bye.
48:49Bye.
48:49Bye.
