00:03:00It's a bit scary to be without the job that defined me
00:03:03How was it, saying goodbye to London?
00:03:05Well, with the weather, I feel like I've brought London here
00:03:08You sure this is what you want?
00:03:12You know I love my work
00:03:14And you're great at it
00:03:14Thank you
00:03:15But I've been thinking about this for a while
00:03:17So I was looking for a sign the past couple of months
00:03:19As to whether I should stay in London
00:03:21Or move here and make Mystery Island my full-time work
00:03:24Did that sign look anything like this?
00:03:26I won't deny that's part of it
00:03:30But also, have you heard about the Lonnie Alfred case?
00:03:36Lonnie Alfred, the psychiatrist that killed seven people?
00:03:39Well, I couldn't tell you at the time
00:03:40Well, I couldn't tell you at the time
00:03:40But I was the one who got him to confess
00:03:44Wow, that's amazing
00:03:47Yeah
00:03:48He threatened to do to me what he did to his seven victims
00:03:53And he's not the first person to make that kind of correct
00:03:56But I decided he was going to be the last
00:03:58I fear he has connections on the outside
00:04:02You're safe here
00:04:07I know, thank you
00:04:13Around that corner, it's my favorite seafood place
00:04:22Rosa makes the best to meet you
00:04:23I've been lucky to have a friend that
00:04:26Wait, you know
00:04:27Someone who can show me around my new neighborhood
00:04:30Let me show you my favorite street
00:04:33Look, Em, I don't think it's any secret that I like you
00:04:38Yeah?
00:04:40I'm just really looking forward to spending more time with you outside of work
00:04:43Me too
00:04:52Um, sorry
00:04:55I thought I saw someone
00:04:57I think I'm just exhausted
00:04:59Jet lag and
00:05:01Let's get you home
00:05:01I think we both need a good night's sleep
00:05:03If we're going to be on our A game tomorrow
00:05:05Jason, I
00:05:07I know
00:05:07It's complicated with us working together
00:05:10Let's just
00:05:10Take it one day at a time
00:05:13Hey you
00:05:32Hey yourself
00:05:33Did you get some sleep?
00:05:34A bit
00:05:35I see they've already upgraded the boat
00:05:38Oh, I wonder if Janie knows about that
00:05:40Well, hello you two
00:05:43Bennett, how are you?
00:05:45Oh, a bit discombobulated to be honest
00:05:47You know, this is the first time since joining Mystery Island
00:05:49That I have been off island for the entire week
00:05:51Oh, here's my new assistant, Tom Robinson

00:06:39I have every confidence they can
00:06:41It was good to be back
00:06:58What do you say you and I saw this mystery in record-breaking town?
00:07:02Exactly what I was thinking
00:07:03And then we can celebrate on the mainland with another dinner date
00:07:06That's perfect
00:07:07Thank you

00:07:18Not at all
00:07:18Their team leader
00:07:19Janie's opposite number
00:07:21Is Dex Longstrip
00:07:22That entitled frustrating human from Oxford
00:07:24Maybe back then
00:07:26But he has an impressive resume
00:07:27And has put together a crackerjack team
00:07:29And they are
00:07:30Dex Longstrip
00:07:32Heir to the Longstrip luxury hotel brand
00:07:34Hospitality and leadership is in his blood
00:07:37But
00:07:37He's trying to make his own mark in the industry
00:07:40Regan Morris
00:07:41A police detective with the Chicago PD
00:07:44She's one of the game writers
00:07:46Dr. Stanley Williams
00:07:49Acclaimed criminal psychiatrist
00:07:51Who's helped the FBI catch dozens of killers
00:07:54Inga Sorensen
00:07:57Mystery Mountain's own major domer
00:08:00Who we were able to hire away from a Swedish mogul
00:08:03And her head of security
00:08:05Khalif Brooks
00:08:07Ex-army
00:08:09Special Forces medic
00:08:11I dare say we're ready
00:08:16Remember the keys to success

00:08:32Emilia
00:08:36Darling
00:08:37Lovely to see you Dex
00:08:39Janie
00:08:42It's been far too long
00:08:43I was going to suggest the opposite
00:08:45Good you haven't lost your bite
00:08:47Didn't know we were going to a
00:08:49Great Gatsby costume party
00:08:51Thank you for the compliment
00:08:52It's one of my favourite novels
00:08:54Of course it is
00:08:55You want to be Jason Trent?
00:08:57That's what it says on my passport
00:08:58It says Dexter Crispin
00:09:00Neville Drummond Longstroth on mine
00:09:02Oh that must be fun for the customs people
00:09:04Bennett
00:09:07Welcome
00:09:07And thank you for letting us invade your domain
00:09:09I didn't really have a choice
00:09:12Mr Longstroth
00:09:12And you're the newly hired Tom Robinson
00:09:15Yes I am
00:09:15Welcome all
00:09:19All droves a bit much
00:09:20No
00:09:21Oh wait
00:09:26What are you doing with our staff?
00:09:28Just bringing a little added realism to our game
00:09:30So no fancy meals
00:09:32No housekeepers putting mints on your pillows
00:09:34What?
00:09:35Well that
00:09:36A bold choice
00:09:38I like it
00:09:40Now we'll all convene on the veranda for cocktails for our crystal themed night
00:09:44But first we'll have champagne and then you'll be shown to your rooms by your counterparts
00:09:49Carlos, we'll come with Janey and me
00:09:51Pleasure Dr Priestley
00:09:58Call me Amelia please Dr Williams
00:10:00Only if you'll call me Stanley
00:10:01You'll love what we've done with this
00:10:06Yeah
00:10:07Well I can see you're really leaning into the mountain theme
00:10:10Oh
00:10:10Oh
00:10:12John Murtagh
00:10:14Dex felt the founder should be in a place of primacy
00:10:17Oh
00:10:17I wonder if Dex didn't realize that the founder tried to frame Carlos for murder
00:10:22I've never seen that before
00:10:31Mr. Del Fuego
00:10:32You need to come with us
00:10:34Well
00:10:35Hello
00:10:37Dex
00:10:38Really?
00:10:40I mean this is a bit gauche even for you
00:10:42On the other hand
00:10:44It is good to be reminded of the dangers of hubris
00:10:47Well that's just what I thought Carlos
00:10:50So
00:10:52This is your room
00:10:57Thank you
00:10:59I uh
00:11:00I must confess it does feel
00:11:02Quite strange
00:11:04Being a guest
00:11:05In one of these rooms
00:11:06Whoa
00:11:09This is sweet
00:11:14Here we are
00:11:16Oh
00:11:19I love all the little touches
00:11:22This is amazing
00:11:24Oh
00:11:25So glad you like it
00:11:27Here you are Janey
00:11:28Yes
00:11:29I do prefer the east side suites
00:11:32Oh well perhaps this side will give you a new perspective
00:11:36Don't hesitate to ask me for anything
00:11:39I'm here to make you stay as comfortable as possible
00:11:42Well thank you
00:11:43This is uh
00:11:44Way
00:11:45Out of my comfort zone
00:11:46You're in good hands
00:11:47I have a lot of experience
00:11:48Though
00:11:49Not as much as you do
00:11:51Your reputation precedes you
00:11:53Well thank you
00:11:54That's very generous
00:11:55Just enjoy being a guest for once
00:11:57And I hope you enjoy playing the game later
00:12:00Well I have to admit
00:12:01I am very excited about that
00:12:03Great
00:12:05So get some rest
00:12:06And we'll see you for cocktails
00:12:07Oh Miss Sorensen
00:12:10Yeah
00:12:10Just one last thing
00:12:11Your previous employer
00:12:13The mogul
00:12:13Anything I should know
00:12:16I believe in moving forward
00:12:20Not backwards
00:12:21You haven't actually been on the island
00:12:34Is that right?
00:12:35Yeah
00:12:35I've seen photos
00:12:37But
00:12:38I mean this
00:12:39This is another deal
00:12:41Best first week on the job
00:12:43Ever
00:12:43Well just remember to stay alert
00:12:46Anything can be a clue
00:12:48Wait
00:12:49Has the game already started?
00:12:53I'm just saying you should always be aware
00:12:55You give me a clue
00:12:57Yeah
00:12:58I don't want to embarrass myself in front of this group
00:13:00Never mind your bosses
00:13:01Also I could use the help
00:13:04So you're playing the innocent new guy
00:13:07I can respect that
00:13:10all right i am looking forward to your team playing the mystery mountain teams game
00:13:19well technically we are just one team but if you ever need any pointers tips ideas i am more than
00:13:25willing to help that's quite all right no no seriously dex i have been doing this a lot
00:13:30longer than you i do know what makes these games successful oh i have no doubt that you do
00:13:36but you are here to play our game janie do try to relax and enjoy who knows maybe you'll pick up
00:13:47some pointers yes as would you the starter's not putting the coo of mystery island in one of the
00:13:56smaller suites so you're still on the job i am i was told you are too i was but things changed
00:14:03put my papers in a couple weeks ago mind if i ask why i was ready for a change i thought this
00:14:09would be the perfect opportunity to use my skills but not have to deal with the real crimes and
00:14:13bureaucracy plus the money they're paying i'm not sure why you haven't retired from the force
00:14:19i guess i still love catching bad guys it never gets old does it it does not i already missed that
00:14:24part of it is your room detected well i'll leave you to it then i just wanted to say i'm familiar
00:14:36with your work and it's really impressive oh well thank you amelia i'd say the same of you
00:14:42you know of my work oh yes i have contacts in london i understand you were the one who got
00:14:51lonnie alford to confess i was yeah impressive but now you've left the metropolitan police
00:14:59it was time to leave and to stop being threatened by murderers oh i'll see you at dinner
00:15:07you're right look at him sucking up for carlos i have to say dex has assembled an impressive
00:15:34team we already have an impressive team everything good here janey's having second thoughts about
00:15:40the expansion it was your idea you convince carlos to do it i want the expansion i just
00:15:45just don't want to be replaced impossible never so they are impressive but let's not get lulled
00:15:54into trusting any one of these people we need to view them as the enemy if we have to solve
00:15:59their game impossibly quickly and show carlos who the true mystery masters are
00:16:02so if i can ask you all to employ your imaginations and envision a snow-covered
00:16:11peak above the mansion i can then welcome you all to mystery mountain
00:16:16now we are taking a different tack to mystery island with its quaint golden age of detective
00:16:25fiction lack of technology here on mystery mountain we embrace innovation while mystery
00:16:32island has no cell service or wi-fi we have this past week installed a temporary bluetooth
00:16:37network the phones inga and khalifa handing out will be a crucial part of playing the game
00:16:43so cool mine's just a blank screen at the moment correct when it comes online that will signal
00:16:52the start of the game delightful cheers cheers cheers cheers it is clever em what did i just say
00:17:02do not get lulled by gimmicks stay sharp
00:17:06sorry tom have we met oh i don't think so huh usually quite good with faces and i swear we've met before
00:17:33people say that to me all the time let's just have one of those faces you know
00:17:36so dex tell me about the process of assembling this team
00:17:41ah well carlos gets most of the credit pulled together an impressive group
00:17:45given the success of mystery island it made sense to keep the same formula and
00:17:50find the best most qualified people in their individual fields
00:17:53our first call was to stanley his renown as a criminal psychologist
00:17:57is well known that's the nicest thing he said about me all week
00:18:01he's still learning to work with others but uh we were looking for someone with a similar
00:18:06skill set to use that's worked so effectively here on mystery island
00:18:09and i suggested we bring on a cop because i know the pairing has worked so well here
00:18:15i may have been the next person they hired but i wasn't the first cop they approached
00:18:19i was 12. that's not true is it dex
00:18:24how could you know that i'm a detective it's my job to find things out
00:18:30like the fact that inga has a criminal record
00:18:35don't be absurd impossible we vetted everyone
00:18:43your vetting process failed
00:18:47do you want to tell them what you did how dare you she was convicted of manslaughter
00:18:52killed her husband back when her name was sophie newtson
00:18:57she did three years in a prison in germany and paid a lot of money to buy a new identity
00:19:05inga
00:19:10we begin with a killer among us
00:19:19dex i'll go and speak with inga and get to the boss of this
00:19:30don't worry it's just anxiety medication
00:19:34i take it daily whether i'm accusing my colleagues of manslaughter or not
00:19:39are there any other criminals on your team we should know about no everyone else checked out
00:19:44dex really didn't seem to know about inga agreed it's concerning
00:19:50what's the letter a g m for me oh i have an m2 i got me bet you it's an anagram
00:19:56uh-huh
00:20:02wait wait wait wait wait if we do that here oh yeah oh oh game room we need to go to the game room
00:20:08all right all right all right let's go all right don't get your notebook
00:20:14what now
00:20:20i don't remember seeing thunder in the forecast
00:20:23dex were here he'd tell you that on mystery mountain weather will often be a factor so we
00:20:28thought we'd provide some cool committed is quite clever oh this is good fun oh my phone is saying
00:20:37an r d oh i've got now bet you it's gonna spell riddle right yeah so are we trying to find two riddles
00:20:45oh might i suggest that we mirror the screen mirror oh you mean line up yes precisely tom
00:20:51here we go oh do you have a keypad oh i'll try typing in steak
00:21:09oh oh let me try the homophone s-t-a-k-e how about w-e double l space d-o-n-e
00:21:22good evening outside outside outside yes all right good evening good evening i'm evelyn murta
00:21:36welcome to my home looks just like evelyn and sounds like a hologram impressive it's uncanny
00:21:45it's next level ai the waves were dead the tides were in their grave the moon their mistress
00:21:56had expired before the winds were withered in the stagnant air the clouds perished darkness had no
00:22:05need of aid from them she was the universe yeah i know that poem it's it's darkness by byron
00:22:15someone on this island is not who they seem to be and their aim is foul play i will graciously
00:22:24provide you with three riddles to help you discover the imposter
00:22:30the first riddle tell yourself that all mysteries are not difficult to illuminate with the proper method
00:22:36first find the ember of curiosity that burns like an ache in the heart of everyone
00:22:46the second riddle no one ate while the scion waited far too confused to follow his mother's
00:22:53words for his own good the third riddle the evening sun is hidden shrouded in deception with
00:23:03the end of memory comes failure now to work my sleuthing friends like i said embracing technology
00:23:14where did you sneak in from during mrs murtaugh's speech that certainly was a lot of information
00:23:20can we replay it i may have missed a line of four spectacular opening decks thank you carlis and
00:23:27i'd like to assure you all that inga's manslaughter charge was for losing control of her car while on
00:23:33black ice which sadly resulted in her husband's death i would have told you that if you hadn't rushed out of
00:23:40the room my sincere apologies for the interruption no problem decks so team where should we start
00:23:47why don't we begin what evelyn did with lord byron's poem darkness in the library
00:23:52byron's complete poem yes
00:24:09this must be related somehow that is a cardano grill which is what cipher device from the 16th century
00:24:16when placed over a piece of writing it can reveal a secret message underneath how impressive knowledge
00:24:21you burn it well you know i'm partial to it well let's let's put it over the darkness poem oh yeah
00:24:26okay oh here you go thanks danny okay uh darkness page 89
00:24:37it appears to be saying
00:24:41oh nothing oh uh try rotating it
00:24:45still nothing maybe the um uh grill thing is supposed to be put over something else like evelyn's
00:24:56first riddle right oh okay i have it written down but my space is arbitrary oh we should put it into
00:25:03iambic pentameter why that because that's what byron used for darkness can i borrow this we should
00:25:11mirror the font size and and write the riddle uh in between the lines okay tell yourself that all
00:25:20mysteries are not difficult to be made when the proper method in the hearts of every one of us
00:25:26tell em aches tell em aches tell em aches tell em aches tell em aches tell em aches
00:25:39huh tell em aches what's brilliant oh so maybe the imposter is greek or or or a prince oh um
00:25:47um an archer hold on forgive me i didn't go to oxford minor in the classics sorry um have you heard
00:25:56of odysseus trojan horse guy right right so telemachus was the son of king odysseus and queen
00:26:02penelope penelope okay and the archer well telemachus roughly translates to archer but it actually means
00:26:09far from battle because an archer can kill from a distance you guys are so good at this
00:26:12oh oh are you okay yeah i'm okay where did that come from okay seems to have a remote control
00:26:30trigger oh okay okay we need to search the mystery mountain team for remote control dex what was that
00:26:38move you knew about the charge janey hang on this isn't part of our game you expect me to believe
00:26:44that after the telemachus clue well i wrote lost at this game and i definitely didn't write me being
00:26:49sharp maybe it was an old device that just happened to go off i am sorry but this is an absurd coincidence
00:26:55i mean carlos they are obviously trying to port us because we are getting close to solving their game
00:27:08come on come on carlos this is not part of the game khalif star khalif star
00:27:24she's dead dead what no no no no no no no no no
00:27:30what reason well we're running forensics on it but it's coated with honey
00:27:41well her convulsions did look like an anaphylactic shock i know it well it's why i never travel
00:27:45without an epipen she could be deathly allergic she is as part of her medical profile this is madness
00:27:52regan was targeted we do need to frisk everybody for a remote dex is right empty your pockets
00:28:00everything now
00:28:10well that's a relief i guess a relief someone's dead i thought this was just a game
00:28:17the remote could have been triggered from some distance who else knew about regan's medical history
00:28:21it was on the mystery island server so anyone of us or anyone of you
00:28:25who could hack the server right i need to call ray it's the chief of police on the mainland
00:28:43phone lines dead nothing
00:28:46that didn't sound like your thunder machine it wasn't
00:28:56what on earth
00:29:00dex please tell me you have backup someone cut the landline and disabled his blue tube network
00:29:06i think we should probably leave the island boat won't be back till monday
00:29:08please tell me we have another boat we do but the staff took it back to the mainland when dex
00:29:15dismissed them for added realism well it sounded like a lovely idea at the time we can no longer
00:29:20trust your ideas so we're stuck here it's terrifying it certainly is we can take measures to ensure
00:29:26everyone's safety but first i need to secure the crime scene all of us
00:29:40how we were gone for maybe 10 minutes whoever took the body couldn't have gotten far
00:29:56you need to search the mansion it's fine to clear the game room first you can all wait in there
00:30:02not the night we expected certainly not
00:30:17this is all my fault oh dex don't blame yourself i'm in charge janey the responsibility falls to me
00:30:23i won't argue with that no sign of regan's body horror killer should we search the surrounding jungle
00:30:30we need to ask ourselves why would the killer want to take her body out of here and to draw us
00:30:34away from the mansion and safety in addition the killer could be relying on or taking advantage
00:30:38of the fact that we're all exhausted physically and emotionally stanley's right we should all
00:30:44get some rest start fresh in the morning no i concur i don't think anyone should be on their
00:30:48own tonight so bunkmates are carlos and caliph dex and tom bennett and inga janey and amelia
00:30:54stanley you can go with carlos i don't need a bunk mate what about you i'll keep watch
00:30:59i want everyone to lock your windows and bolt your doors stay safe tom me too
00:31:08apologies for approaching on your space oh no no no not at all
00:31:12to be honest i am more than relieved to have a roommate this evening truthfully me as well
00:31:17i think it's no secret that i wanted to take the shine of dex
00:31:27oddly how i hoped it would happen we know janey
00:31:32tell me it's gonna be all right jason we're gonna be all right are you just saying that because i told
00:31:37you two well technically yeah but i'm gonna make sure it's true thank you
00:31:48are you gonna make sure you're all right always
00:31:51please please be careful i will be do you promise i promise
00:32:00please be careful i'll be doing this okay okay
00:32:14Em.
00:32:28Em, are you awake?
00:32:32I am.
00:32:33Well, are you trying to sleep?
00:32:35I was.
00:32:37Well, I was too, truly.
00:32:38It's just...
00:32:40My mind is racing.
00:32:42Would you like me to teach you a deep breathing exercise?
00:32:45No.
00:32:48I don't think I want to sleep.
00:32:51Jamie.
00:33:05What is it?
00:33:08I don't want to start building a motherboard,
00:33:10but I just can't help wondering
00:33:11what motive somebody would have for killing Regan.
00:33:14Well, I would imagine she's put several criminals away.
00:33:18So this may be for revenge,
00:33:21which hits a little close to home.
00:33:23But then why wouldn't they allow us to leave the island?
00:33:26I mean, if Regan was the only target.
00:33:28An excellent question.
00:33:29I think we should assume that whomever did this
00:33:35planned well in advance and is far from finished.
00:33:41Right.
00:33:43Well, show me this breathing exercise then.
00:33:45Well, show me this one.
00:34:10Police! Come out from behind the tree with your hands up.
00:34:19It's me, Khalif.
00:34:24Khalif?
00:34:25I wanted to take a quick sweep of the grounds.
00:34:27I'm sorry to scare you.
00:34:29Why don't you head back inside and get some rest?
00:34:34Copy that. Good night.
00:34:40It's Jason.
00:34:56Morning.
00:34:57Is that me, Ed?
00:34:59Did you not sleep?
00:35:00I didn't.
00:35:01Jason.
00:35:02I just kept watch, did a few perimeter walks.
00:35:04I figured if anyone was out there, they'd wait till we were asleep to make a move.
00:35:08And did they?
00:35:09All quiet.
00:35:10Oh, so you're thinking we should search the rest of the island?
00:35:13You read my mind.
00:35:15Oh, good.
00:35:16The three of us made it through the night.
00:35:19Well, shall we go check on the others?
00:35:21I'll get myself together.
00:35:22Meet you down there.
00:35:24Ready?
00:35:25Ready.
00:35:27Oh, this sounds like a lovely spread.
00:35:32All right, everyone.
00:35:33The island is not that big to begin with, so whoever killed Regan and took her body couldn't have gotten far, especially in the dark.
00:35:43Jason, just a thought, if I may.
00:35:45Is it possible the killer hit or even buried her body somewhere close by?
00:35:48Maybe in a hole they'd already dug and then moved further afield.
00:35:51Excellent thought.
00:35:53Thank you, Janie.
00:35:54Agreed.
00:35:54I'm thinking we work in teams, operate on a search grid.
00:35:57I simply can't chalk it up to coincidence that just as we solved the telemachus riddle, Regan gets shot with an arrow.
00:36:04Technically, it was a dart.
00:36:06Yeah, but my point is, whomever set the device that killed Regan not only knew about her medical condition, they knew about the game you've written.
00:36:13There has to be a connection between Regan and the killer.
00:36:16Correct.
00:36:16So, if the killer has further plans, it wouldn't be unreasonable to think those plans might be tied to the rest of the game narrative.
00:36:23So, wait, you want us to continue playing the game?
00:36:26Okay.
00:36:27Maybe less thunder this time?
00:36:29Stanley, can you share what was next?
00:36:31I was afraid you were going to ask me this.
00:36:34And unfortunately, just as Regan and I came up with the Evelyn idea, I was called away by the FBI.
00:36:39Are you saying you don't know the solution to the other two riddles?
00:36:44I'm saying I don't actually know the entire rest of the narrative.
00:36:49Dex told me he would help Regan in my absence.
00:36:52Dex?
00:36:55Well, I did say that, but...
00:36:57But what, Dex?
00:37:00Regan said she could handle it.
00:37:01She said that she would reveal it to us all after you'd solved the first riddle.
00:37:06Are you saying...
00:37:08Nobody knows the ending of the game.
00:37:10Oh, I don't know.
00:37:21Okay, to clarify.
00:37:23Only one person on your team knew the answers to the remaining riddles.
00:37:28Well, I guess I have a thing or two to learn about the job.
00:37:31All right, so then I suggest that Stanley and I work on figuring out the riddles and the rest of you conduct the search.
00:37:39You don't agree?
00:37:41No, I, uh, you're right about the riddles.
00:37:44Jason doesn't like the idea of leaving you here with me, because Jason has quite reasonably concluded that while none of us could have moved Regan's body, there is always the possibility of two culprits working together.
00:37:58One out there somewhere, and the other right here at this table, from the Mystery Mountain team.
00:38:04Yes, Detective?
00:38:06That's right.
00:38:07Oh, come now, Stanley. Our team was vetted.
00:38:11Yeah, well, we all know how well that turned out.
00:38:14I concur with Stanley that the Mystery Island team has a reason to mistrust us.
00:38:18Well, who is it that you mistrust? Inga? Kalief? Stanley?
00:38:21You're not including yourself on this list, Dex? Remind me again who was in charge of this game?
00:38:25I didn't plan this.
00:38:26No, clearly you didn't.
00:38:28This is not my fault.
00:38:30Carlos, you should have never trusted someone like him to lead a mission like this.
00:38:33Someone like me. Elitist, trust fund, wannabe.
00:38:38Easy.
00:38:39You needed so desperately to make a name for yourself, it led to negligence.
00:38:42Enough!
00:38:43Stanley Cooley.
00:38:44Come on.
00:38:45Dex, sit down. Now.
00:38:51I still believe we will find answers if we solve the riddles.
00:38:55Yes, I agree. I'll join you and Stanley.
00:38:57As will I.
00:38:58I'd also like to stay. I trust Stanley, and I'm quite terrified about encountering the killer out there.
00:39:05That's fine, Inga.
00:39:07Given the trust issues, I volunteer to partner with Kalief on a search team.
00:39:12Though I would request smoother terrain. I have a dodgy knee.
00:39:16All right.
00:39:17Well, then you two go due east, take the golf course and surrounding area.
00:39:21Tom, Janie, and I will go south to the beach. We'll rendezvous with the beach cabana in one hour.
00:39:25So, I wrote Evelyn's second riddle in amber pentameter and laid the Cardano grill over it.
00:39:38And it didn't work.
00:39:40Exactly.
00:39:41That would be far too easy.
00:39:43The second riddle was what again?
00:39:46Hey.
00:39:46No one ate while the scion waited, far too confused to follow his mother's words for his own good.
00:39:54Sorry, what is scion?
00:39:55A descendant. Usually someone from a notable family.
00:39:58So, like Telemachus?
00:40:01Yeah, like Telemachus, but also like John Murtagh, son of Evelyn, who was full of words.
00:40:07Evelyn was obsessed with Greece and sent more than one novel there.
00:40:10Oh, Shadows of Santorini.
00:40:20Yes.
00:40:21Let's look for additional Cardano grills and hidden papers.
00:40:26The Shadows of Santorini.
00:40:29And then the Death of Delphi.
00:40:31The Blood of Magian.
00:40:34The Last Sunset.
00:40:35Mykonos.
00:40:36Why don't we each go through these page by page and see if we find any annotations?
00:40:47Oh, might I suggest that we also scan the text for any reference to the second riddle?
00:40:51Yeah.
00:40:52Great.
00:40:52Okay, let's settle in.
00:40:54Um, if you don't mind, I'm going to do my reading on the veranda.
00:40:59I promise to shout if anyone approaches.
00:41:02Okay.
00:41:06I thought maybe we'd see signs of a killer bunk on the beach overnight.
00:41:25Nothing.
00:41:26Hmm.
00:41:26So, now that Amelia's moving closer, do you think, you know?
00:41:37You know how much I adore him.
00:41:40And?
00:41:41And we agreed to take it one day at a time.
00:41:44Well, just don't spend too many days before acting on it.
00:41:48You never know how many days we have.
00:41:50Especially on this island.
00:41:51Oh!
00:41:59What?
00:42:00I just realised something.
00:42:02There's a cryptic code in the second riddle far more simpler than the Cardano grill.
00:42:07It's a, it's number substitution.
00:42:10I don't follow.
00:42:11Okay.
00:42:12No one.
00:42:13Use the numerical.
00:42:14Eight.
00:42:15Well, that's a number.
00:42:16Oh, I get it.
00:42:17So far two is a two.
00:42:19Two follow.
00:42:20Another two.
00:42:21For his.
00:42:22For, exactly.
00:42:23So, one, eight, two, two, four.
00:42:27Maybe it's a specific place in one of her books.
00:42:30Perhaps a page number and a line count.
00:42:33Great idea.
00:42:34So, it could be page 182, line 24.
00:42:38Gotcha.
00:42:39Thanks.
00:42:40Page 182 here.
00:42:45It's the end of a chapter.
00:42:46It's only seven lines long.
00:42:48My page 182 is the beginning of a chapter and half the page is empty.
00:42:54Mine's a description of a Grecian urn.
00:42:57Amelia?
00:42:57Uh, my page 182, line 24, is the second half of a sentence where a mother is scolding her disobedient
00:43:09son.
00:43:10Like the riddle.
00:43:12And line 24 is just one word.
00:43:19Dexter.
00:43:20Does this mean Dex is the killer?
00:43:32You have to tell Stanley.
00:43:35Look, I'll stay here and continue working.
00:43:37Okay.
00:43:49Tom.
00:43:51Anything?
00:43:52Nothing.
00:43:53You?
00:43:57Well, maybe Dex and Khalifa had more luck.
00:44:00We should be here by now.
00:44:04Well, why don't we go to the golf course?
00:44:05Maybe we'll meet them en route?
00:44:07I think it's like it's too much to be a coincidence.
00:44:13What do you think?
00:44:14I should have...
00:44:14Stanley?
00:44:17Stanley?
00:44:20We shouldn't have let him wander off.
00:44:24He wasn't wandering off.
00:44:26He was coming to this spot.
00:44:27Well, we need to find him.
00:44:29I prefer to stay here.
00:44:30Okay.
00:44:31You wait here.
00:44:32Call us and I'll go and look for him.
00:44:33Okay.
00:44:33I'll lock myself into my room.
00:44:35Okay.
00:44:35What's that?
00:45:01That's Khalifa.
00:45:08Khalifa?
00:45:13Are you okay?
00:45:14No, no.
00:45:15Stay down.
00:45:16Stay down.
00:45:16At least he's not dead.
00:45:18You hurt?
00:45:18Where's Dex?
00:45:22That's a great question.
00:45:29Stanley?
00:45:37Where's he gone?
00:45:38Stanley?
00:45:39We should check the beach.
00:45:49Let's go.
00:45:50I don't have a good feeling about this.
00:46:02Look.
00:46:08Footprints.
00:46:13These must be Stanleys.
00:46:16Well, this is the only place left.
00:46:18But why would he come down here?
00:46:19Amelia, look.
00:46:27A second set of footprints.
00:46:31Well, they go up to the jungle.
00:46:35And they're going toward the deceased bungalow.
00:46:39I really don't like the idea of splitting up.
00:46:48I don't like the idea of not finding Stanley.
00:46:54All right.
00:46:55Scream if you're in trouble.
00:46:56Me too.
00:46:57Ow, ow, ow, ow, ow, ow, ow, ow, ow, ow.
00:47:08Sorry, sorry.
00:47:08Ow, ow, ow, ow, ow, ow.
00:47:10But I think you're going to have quite the headache.
00:47:12I already do.
00:47:13Khalifa, tell me what happened.
00:47:14We were driving the range.
00:47:16Dex saw something in the sand trap, something shiny.
00:47:18He drove us over here.
00:47:19We got out.
00:47:21Next thing I remember, you guys are helping me up.
00:47:27Guys.
00:47:37Guys!
00:47:39You're going to want to see this.
00:47:41You all right?
00:47:42I'm okay.
00:47:42Go, go, go.
00:47:53That's what I think it is, right?
00:47:55Blood.
00:47:56Yeah.
00:47:56Khalifa hasn't got any blood on him.
00:47:59There's more leading this way.
00:48:03What do you want to do?
00:48:05Let's see where it takes us.
00:48:08Janie, help Khalifa.
00:48:08Tom, you ride with me.
00:48:10Right.
00:48:10Let's see.
00:48:30Let's go.
00:49:00Let's go.
00:49:30Let's go.
00:50:00Let's go.
00:50:01It's getting out here.
00:50:16Which means it's a wound that's not being taken care of.
00:50:20Is it possible Dex attacked you when you fought, Barrett?
00:50:23I'm pretty sure I'd remember that.
00:50:26Let's follow him.
00:50:29No, no, no. You should stay here.
00:50:32Not a chance.
00:50:34Find this guy.
00:50:37Tom, go to the top of the tower.
00:50:52Yell if you see anything.
00:50:55Jason, this is the storyline you were working on two months ago.
00:50:59I'm aware that it's not good news for Dex.
00:51:10I'm so sorry.
00:51:11No, no. It's my fault. I shouldn't have...
00:51:14I heard a noise!
00:51:18You found Stanley?
00:51:19Yeah, and I hit him.
00:51:21Because I foolishly crept up on her.
00:51:23What are you doing here?
00:51:25Well, I was getting nowhere with the book, so I thought I'd take a walk, clear my head,
00:51:29wound up here and thought a soak in the hot tub would be a good idea.
00:51:33I realise this all sounds a tad suspicious.
00:51:36It does, yeah.
00:51:38More than a tad?
00:51:39How do we know you weren't meeting your accomplice here?
00:51:42Um, well, I suppose you don't.
00:51:45Because somebody was drinking a glass of wine.
00:51:48Was that you?
00:51:49It wasn't.
00:51:50I didn't even enter the place until I heard something.
00:51:52I was tempted by the hot tub like I told you.
00:51:55Amelia, did you look in the bedroom?
00:51:57Not yet.
00:51:58Why don't we all go look?
00:52:00Sure.
00:52:01No...
00:52:03No, no.
00:52:04It's just a place.
00:52:05No.
00:52:06No, no.
00:52:06No, no.
00:52:07No.
00:52:08No, no.
00:52:09No, no.
00:52:10No, no.
00:52:11No.
00:52:12What?
00:52:13No, no, no.
00:52:15Oh, it's like someone's targeting members of your team, Stanley.
00:52:34Surely someone saw my notes on murder at the ruins?
00:52:40It seems highly likely.
00:52:42Well, then the killer must be someone among us.
00:52:45Janie.
00:52:51Just remember who you can trust.
00:52:56There's blood under the window and on the ground.
00:52:59A lot. A lot of blood.
00:53:06Dex's hat.
00:53:07I think whoever wounded Dex threw him from the tower.
00:53:10No one could survive that fall.
00:53:18That's too dead.
00:53:23So, it would appear that all the members of the Mystery Mountain team are potential targets.
00:53:28Why? That makes no sense.
00:53:31The second clue led us to believe that Dex was the killer, but that's been proven wrong.
00:53:36Belief, you remember nothing?
00:53:39Not a thing.
00:53:41Isn't it far more likely, if there is an inside man among us, that the killer is working with somebody from the Mystery Island team?
00:53:48Excuse me?
00:53:49Why?
00:53:50Why?
00:53:51Just because you found a bunch of photos of you guys?
00:53:54Yeah, that's exactly what I've seen.
00:53:55Well, maybe those were put there to throw suspicion of one of you.
00:53:57Oh, brilliant idea.
00:53:58Brilliant theory.
00:53:59Brilliant theory.
00:54:00Okay, okay.
00:54:01Everyone's thinking clearly.
00:54:03I suggest we all go to our rooms to rest and clear our heads.
00:54:07Wise words, Amelia.
00:54:08I prefer to go to my original room on my own.
00:54:11I think that's best for all of us.
00:54:32It's not making sense.
00:54:35Jason?
00:54:36How'd you guess?
00:54:44You're not sleeping.
00:54:45Neither are you, despite telling everyone we needed rest.
00:54:49I rested.
00:54:50For a while.
00:54:5130 seconds?
00:54:52It may have been 40.
00:54:55I just, I can't stop thinking.
00:54:57You want to bounce some stuff off me?
00:54:59Yeah, that usually works quite well.
00:55:01It does indeed.
00:55:06So, instead of thinking about the evidence, we should consider the mind of the killer.
00:55:13Good thing you're an expert.
00:55:14You started to formulate a profile of the killer.
00:55:16That's what's off.
00:55:18There's no consistency.
00:55:20Regan's murder shows extensive planning, whereas Dex's is simply opportunistic.
00:55:26Regan's murder is bloodless, whereas Dex's is quite the opposite.
00:55:31That makes the theory of two killers pretty viable.
00:55:33One being the muscle, the other being the brains.
00:55:35Possibly.
00:55:36But what if the two-killer notion is a deception to instill fear and division among us?
00:55:42What if there's simply one killer who has access to all the Mystery Mountain files, who understands psychology and how to create fear, and who knows enough about profiling to vary their methods of murder in an effort to confuse us?
00:55:54Talking about Stanley.
00:55:56You had the same thought?
00:55:57Plus, I didn't buy his reasons for wandering away from you and Egan, Carlos.
00:56:01Exactly! And not just to the veranda, but then to the jacuzzi?
00:56:04So, for that to be the case, he would have had time to leave his book at the veranda, get to the golf course, attack Khalifa and Dex, drag the Wounded Dex to the tower, throw him off, and still get back in time to wash off any blood spatter.
00:56:14Yeah. So, how should we proceed?
00:56:17I want to talk to Stanley, see how he reacts.
00:56:20Alone, or...?
00:56:21We're coming down.
00:56:34Hang on.
00:56:35Yeah?
00:56:36Maybe you should go in first. He's more likely to let you in if you're alone.
00:56:39Because I'm some dumb cop and you're a brilliant criminal profiler.
00:56:42No, I wouldn't put it that way.
00:56:43Stanley might.
00:56:45Maybe.
00:56:47And then once you've had a chance to hit him with some preliminary questions, I'll knock on the door.
00:56:52Are we working together?
00:56:54No. We've each come of our own volition.
00:56:56I like it. Keep him off balance.
00:56:58Precisely.
00:57:00Who is it?
00:57:01Jason Trent.
00:57:04Stanley!
00:57:05I think he's opening the window.
00:57:16Stanley!
00:57:18Don't move, detective.
00:57:19Stanley, I don't want to hurt you, but you've got to listen to me.
00:57:22I'm listening.
00:57:23Yeah? Huh? Are you listening?
00:57:26I am listening, Stanley.
00:57:27Somebody is trying to frame me.
00:57:29I am being framed!
00:57:31And I will listen to you, Stanley, if you put down the knife.
00:57:33Do you believe me?
00:57:34I don't understand, then.
00:57:35But you're going to have to listen to me.
00:57:36Somebody is trying to frame me!
00:57:37I understand that.
00:57:38Yeah?
00:57:39I want you to leave me.
00:57:40I am just-
00:57:41Stanley!
00:57:42Ah!
00:57:43Ah!
00:57:44Ah!
00:57:45Let's make this official.
00:57:46You are under arrest for assaulting an officer.
00:57:48Anything you say can and will be used against you in court of law.
00:57:51You have the right to an attorney if you cannot afford one.
00:57:54One will be able to provide it for them.
00:57:55Do you understand these rights to support them?
00:57:56Yeah.
00:57:57I know my Miranda rights.
00:57:58And I don't mind talking because I'm telling you I did not kill Regan or Dex.
00:58:02And by Monday, when your colleagues from the police force arrive, I promise you they'll agree.
00:58:06Now, if you would please uncuff me.
00:58:09Don't thank me.
00:58:10I'm locking you up.
00:58:11Emilia, you've got to believe me.
00:58:12I'm being pranked!
00:58:13Ah!
00:58:14Ah!
00:58:15Ah!
00:58:16Ah!
00:58:17Ah!
00:58:18Ah!
00:58:19Ah!
00:58:20Ah!
00:58:21Ah!
00:58:22Ah!
00:58:23Ah!
00:58:24Ah!
00:58:26Ah!
00:58:27Ah!
00:58:28Ah!
00:58:29Ah!
00:58:30Storage room?
00:58:31For now, it's a holding cell.
00:58:32Listen.
00:58:33You said I was under arrest for assaulting you.
00:58:36Does that mean you don't think I killed them?
00:58:38Stanley, you are my prime suspect.
00:58:40I might be adding murder to your list of charges when my colleagues get here Monday, but for now
00:58:45Assaulting an officer is more than enough to hold you. Well, can you please uncuff me then? I'll be back
00:59:02Hey, you get Stanley secured? I did, yeah. And he actually pulled a knife on you. I brought them all up to speed.
00:59:08I never trusted Stanley. Yeah, me neither. I thought it was Dex you didn't trust. Well, I didn't, but
00:59:16clearly I was mistaken about Dex. But no, I felt that Stanley was extremely suspicious with the whole
00:59:22I don't know anything about the game because I was called away by the FBI story. What's Stanley
00:59:26saying now? Nothing yet. I wanted to talk to you all first. Best to go into an interview with some
00:59:30ammunition. Who knows anything about Dr. Stanley Williams? He's a criminal psychologist, a university
00:59:37professor, and he consults with the FBI. He's well respected. He also wrote a seminal book on criminal
00:59:42profiling. Mind of a Killer. Might turn out to be an autobiographical title. So you do think that he
00:59:49murdered Regan and Dex? I'm not sure yet, but he's certainly my prime suspect. I got a bad vibe from
00:59:55him right away. He kept saying that he knew me from somewhere. And you don't know him? No. I think we need
01:00:01to talk to the surviving members of the Mystery Mountain team. Thank you for meeting with us. Of
01:00:10course. Where's Stanley? In custody. I don't understand. I went to talk to Stanley and he
01:00:17assaulted me. What? With a knife. Thanks to Amelia, I was able to turn the tables on him. I have him
01:00:23locked in a secured room. That's shocking. I had several discussions with Stanley about futility of
01:00:30violence. Interesting. What else can either of you tell us about Stanley? Well, he has no children,
01:00:37no family. He's quite devoted to his work and he's writing on a sequel to his book. Yeah, that's what I
01:00:44got from him too. Although he didn't spend the week here with us. Just came in the day before you guys.
01:00:49But I did get to talk to him about his more profiling killers. What did he say? He said that murder can be
01:00:55quite energizing. I mean, I thought he meant talking to murderers. Now I see how it can maybe
01:01:02be like he was revealing something. Thank you both. Let me go question Stanley. Im, could you join me?
01:01:09Of course. But might I suggest that the rest of us remain here and work out the third riddle of
01:01:14Evelyn City. Might yet prove helpful.
01:01:33Oh, hello. Did you fall over? I tried to get some sleep. The combination of handcuffs and concrete made
01:01:41it difficult. I'll tell you what Stanley, if you promise not to do anything stupid, I'll let you loose.
01:01:46I promise.
01:01:58Have a seat.
01:02:05May I ask? You're asking the questions.
01:02:08Understood. Did you rig the device that killed Regan?
01:02:11I did not. Did you attack Khalif and murdered Dex?
01:02:15Certainly not. But you don't have an alibi for Dex's murder.
01:02:18Oh yes, I'm painfully aware of that. And still, I didn't do it.
01:02:23Honestly, I thought the two of you were better at this. Which is why I'm shocked you've been tricked
01:02:29into thinking I'm the killer. We never said you were the killer.
01:02:32Oh, good. So I can go then. Sit down.
01:02:36Why do you think you're being framed? Because I am.
01:02:43Why would Khalif or Inga want to frame you? I would assume so they don't get caught.
01:02:48But you're assuming it's one of our team and not one of your team.
01:02:52We have plenty of history with our team.
01:02:53Not Tom Robinson you don't. You have no history with him. But I do.
01:02:59You said you thought you knew him.
01:03:03Yes. I suppose it took being locked up in here to bring it back to me.
01:03:08It's been a couple of years. Tom wasn't quite as fit, had shorter hair, but he was a student of
01:03:13mine at GW. As you know, I was an adjunct professor, taught a couple of classes there.
01:03:18But I know why Tom pretended not to remember me.
01:03:22Why? Because I turned him in for plagiarism, which led to his expulsion.
01:03:26Did he confront you about it at the time?
01:03:28Only via email. He said something to the effect that I had destroyed his life
01:03:34and he was going to make me pay for that.
01:03:39No, I'm afraid he may have found a way to do just that.
01:03:41He'll laugh. I'll take them one. Yes, poor Dex.
01:03:52Oh, Jason. Has Danny confessed?
01:03:55Not yet. Do you mind if I borrow Bennett?
01:03:57Oh, of course.
01:04:06How can I help?
01:04:07This may seem like a strange question, but where did Tom go to college?
01:04:10Uh, the University of the Virgin Islands.
01:04:13So, not George Washington University?
01:04:15Oh, no. He did, in fact, begin his degree there.
01:04:18Do you know why you transferred?
01:04:19No idea.
01:04:22Is this somehow pertinent to our situation?
01:04:25It might be. Could you ask him to come in here, please?
01:04:29Yes, of course.
01:04:33I can't help but bring up the fact that this new revelation from Stanley is now dividing members
01:04:37of our own team.
01:04:38It fits your profile of the killer. I get it.
01:04:41Hey, guys. What's up?
01:04:42Tom, you started your undergrad at George Washington University.
01:04:48Wow. Not what I was expecting. But yeah, yeah, I was at GW for a year. Why?
01:04:53Why did you leave?
01:04:55Well, I met a girl over spring break and she was at the University of the Virgin Islands,
01:05:01and I was just madly in love with her. So I transferred.
01:05:05So you weren't expelled from GW?
01:05:08No.
01:05:08Was Stanley Williams one of your professors there?
01:05:14I don't believe this. Is that guy accusing me?
01:05:16Just answer the question.
01:05:17Fine. The answer is no. I didn't have Stanley as a professor. I didn't even know he taught there.
01:05:22I was a business major. My speciality was in hospitality management. I never saw that guy
01:05:29until yesterday. I swear to you.
01:05:31Okay. Thank you.
01:05:33Am I a suspect?
01:05:34Everyone's a suspect until they're not.
01:05:38Okay.
01:05:38Why don't you go and head to the game room?
01:05:40Sure.
01:05:48We have no way of knowing which one of them is telling the truth.
01:05:50But the fact that Stanley knew Tom was a GW and left prematurely...
01:05:54Is not a good look for Tom.
01:06:00Janey, darling.
01:06:03Oh, grand.
01:06:04Shall we report on our progress?
01:06:06That would be great, yeah.
01:06:07Right.
01:06:10According to Stanley, Regan wrote A.I. Evelyn's scripts and only she knew the answer to the riddles.
01:06:17But, is this true?
01:06:22To wit, the killer certainly intended Regan's murder as a mockery to the Telemachus solution from middle number one.
01:06:31So it makes sense that Regan shared the riddle solution with the killer, who then killed her because she found out who the killer was.
01:06:39It sounds a bit circular and logic, Janey.
01:06:42But does it?
01:06:44Or does it sound like the kind of twisted thinking a killer like Stanley is capable of?
01:06:50Now so, why kill Dex?
01:06:53I mean, perhaps he figured out who the killer was, but maybe the killer is planning on killing everyone on the island.
01:07:00A serial killer like the ones that Stanley profiles.
01:07:04Serial killers follow patterns in their murders.
01:07:06They don't vary their methods.
01:07:09Except for Nonny Alfred.
01:07:12He's behind bars.
01:07:13A copycat.
01:07:14Someone close to him.
01:07:16Well, yes.
01:07:18Like Stanley.
01:07:20Okay.
01:07:22Okay.
01:07:23What about the third riddle then?
01:07:25The evening sun is hidden, shrouded in deception with discovery comes failure.
01:07:29Well, yes, the Cardano grill, it didn't work, and obviously there are no number substitutions.
01:07:35We thought about what would hide the sun, went down the cloud route, deception would equal clouds, but that didn't get us anywhere.
01:07:41And I didn't find any other traditional code models being used.
01:07:45Can I raise a question?
01:07:46What if Stanley isn't the killer, or is working with an accomplice who's still at large on the island?
01:07:51Yes, I do not relish the idea of staying another night even with locked bedroom doors.
01:07:56I'd feel safer if we were all together.
01:07:59Might I suggest that we all sleep in here and then take shifts, keeping watch?
01:08:04Yes, that's a great idea.
01:08:07Jason, what do you think of us all staying the night in here and then taking turns to keep watch?
01:08:11It's good thinking.
01:08:11Yeah.
01:08:12Ed, there's something I need to show you.
01:08:19Did you talk to Tom Robinson?
01:08:20Sit down, Stanley.
01:08:25We did.
01:08:26He said he left GW for different reasons.
01:08:29Oh, well then I'm sure he's telling the truth and I'm lying.
01:08:32Speaking of not being truthful, when were you planning on telling us that you'd been in contact with Lonnie
01:08:37Alfred, the London serial killer I got to confess?
01:08:42I would assume that's a rhetorical question.
01:08:44Letters from Lonnie Alfred to you, which Jason found in your room.
01:08:51What if I told you I had a partner in my work?
01:08:54We can only discuss in person.
01:08:55Can you come to London?
01:08:58You told us you couldn't write with Regan because you were called away.
01:09:01Called away by Lonnie Alfred.
01:09:03Is Lonnie's partner now your partner?
01:09:05Are they on this island?
01:09:06You found some letters.
01:09:11You're leaping to a lot of conclusions.
01:09:13Fill in the blanks for us.
01:09:18I think I'm done talking.
01:09:28Are you okay?
01:09:32I should have told you sooner, but ever since the Lonnie Alfred case,
01:09:35I feel like I'm being followed.
01:09:37Why didn't you tell me?
01:09:39I thought I was being paranoid.
01:09:40I've been through this before.
01:09:42You can always confide in me.
01:09:45I know.
01:09:46I didn't want to raise any alarms until I had some proof.
01:09:50If it was someone associated with Lonnie, why would they go after Regan?
01:09:56Unless Regan wasn't the intended victim.
01:09:59What could that be?
01:10:02Oh!
01:10:05Honey, you're allergic.
01:10:10I was the target.
01:10:12I hate to say it, but it makes the most sense.
01:10:21I need to go and check on Janie.
01:10:22I bought you a pillow and blanket.
01:10:31Oh, you're the best.
01:10:34I know this probably isn't the time, but don't you think that Khalifa's rather handsome?
01:10:39Not the time.
01:10:40Okay, fair, but I don't think it's just me thinking about what tonight could be if we weren't only worried about a killer on the loose.
01:10:46Like you and Jason?
01:10:54One day at a time.
01:10:55I am so over that cliche.
01:10:56Let me help you with that.
01:10:59Okay, thank you.
01:11:14The clouds are clear.
01:11:20What is a beautiful sunset?
01:11:22That's always bothered me.
01:11:24The sunset?
01:11:26No, the fact that we say the sun is setting when really we're just turning away from it.
01:11:34Jason, you're a genius.
01:11:37Well, it was Copernicus.
01:11:38No, no, I mean the third riddle.
01:11:40Of course, the three riddles form a profile.
01:11:42The third riddle starts, the evening sun is hidden.
01:11:48Why is the sun hidden?
01:11:49Because the earth turns away from it.
01:11:52Now use the homophone, S-O-N, and who's turning away from him?
01:11:55Mother Earth.
01:11:57Right, and the answer to the first riddle was a sun telemethics.
01:12:00Yeah, a prince with no power, a scion.
01:12:02And the answer to the second riddle, the invisible man.
01:12:04Someone nobody sees, and now this sun, whose mother turns away from him, put it all together,
01:12:09it's what I suspected.
01:12:12John Murtagh.
01:12:22Oh my gosh, you say something to Jason.
01:12:24I can only tell you.
01:12:26Why should I go and get him?
01:12:27Just wait.
01:12:28I talked to him, but I didn't get anything.
01:12:31Good morning.
01:12:33I didn't want to wake you.
01:12:34Is everything all right?
01:12:34Yeah, I just, I realised something this morning.
01:12:36About the third riddle?
01:12:37Which we know is connected to John Murtagh.
01:12:39Right, but...
01:12:40He's dead, I know.
01:12:42But there's a part of him that's not.
01:12:50John Murtagh.
01:12:52Still a presence, even from the grave.
01:12:56What are we looking for?
01:12:57I'm not sure exactly, but I have a feeling this was put here for a reason.
01:13:00A breed.
01:13:01There must be a clue.
01:13:03The son is hidden.
01:13:06Evelyn's son.
01:13:06Is that hologram lady coming back?
01:13:08I didn't love her.
01:13:10Third line of the poem is shrouded in deception.
01:13:12That's it.
01:13:14The beard.
01:13:15The beard that John Murtagh was wearing as a disguise when he was shot with the arrow?
01:13:20On the right side of his neck.
01:13:26This man is really and truly dead.
01:13:30Can you, can you move it?
01:13:35Whoa.
01:13:38I didn't see that coming.
01:13:43Those look like Stanley's glasses.
01:13:48Jason.
01:13:50Stay here.
01:14:13Em.
01:14:13It's like blood splatter.
01:14:22In a bullet hole.
01:14:26He was in my custody.
01:14:27Hey, don't go there.
01:14:29This isn't your fault.
01:14:32But we should tell the others.
01:14:33We should tell the others.
01:14:33So, if the killer didn't break in.
01:14:53The keypad is intact.
01:14:55Which means they knew the code.
01:14:57So Stanley wasn't the killer.
01:14:59Or he was the inside man all along and his partner killed him.
01:15:01Which means that we undoubtedly have a killer amongst us.
01:15:04On my island?
01:15:06Janie.
01:15:07Could you take everyone to the game room?
01:15:09Jason and I will be there in a minute to come up with a plan.
01:15:14Everyone?
01:15:14What's going on?
01:15:21What's going on?
01:15:21I...
01:15:22Something's bothering me.
01:15:29Why put Stanley's glasses in there?
01:15:31That's a really good question.
01:15:32Evelyn's whole message was built around the idea of disappointment in her son.
01:15:36What were you saying?
01:15:40I think we should write down everything that's happened since we've arrived.
01:15:43Not the puzzles.
01:15:44Just the plain, simple facts.
01:15:45It's quite clever.
01:16:03No argument here.
01:16:05What are you doing?
01:16:07Janie.
01:16:07We've been looking for you.
01:16:08Sorry.
01:16:09You two being here, you were making yourselves targets for the killer.
01:16:12That's not true.
01:16:13Physically.
01:16:13What are you talking about?
01:16:17It's a lot.
01:16:18We should chat with everyone at the same time.
01:16:21Janie, could you gather everyone on the veranda, please?
01:16:24Right.
01:16:33What is this all about?
01:16:35We don't have time for any more gameplay.
01:16:38I agree.
01:16:39As of this moment, the game playing is over.
01:16:41Well, that's a rather cryptic statement.
01:16:44Cryptic and meta.
01:16:45Which is what our Mystery Island team have been experiencing, beginning with a video of
01:16:49the mother of Mystery Island's founder delivering a very cryptic message to us.
01:16:53Which we saw of last night.
01:16:55And which...
01:16:55Jason, forgive me, but we all know this.
01:16:59And it doesn't change the fact that three people are dead and there's still a killer out there.
01:17:04Three people dead?
01:17:05But yet, where are their bodies?
01:17:07Well, the killer took Regan's body to draw us out of the mansion that night.
01:17:12Perhaps, but then there's Dex, thrown off a tower, yet a body is nowhere to be found.
01:17:16Yes, the killer dragged it away.
01:17:17Maybe, but then there's Stanley, shot sometime last night.
01:17:21His glasses were left behind, but his body was taken.
01:17:24So, three murders and three missing bodies.
01:17:28Evelyn's riddles pointed us to this very meta-solution.
01:17:32The person who isn't what they seem to be is John Murtagh, whose final act of this lifetime
01:17:36was to stage a murder that wasn't a murder.
01:17:38We should have known this was a mockery of John Murtagh as soon as Regan was shot with
01:17:46a remote-controlled dart.
01:17:47Hang on.
01:17:49Are you saying that the three people aren't dead?
01:17:52Because, I mean, we all saw Regan die.
01:17:55You checked her pulse yourself.
01:17:57Or she faked her convulsions and her lack of pulse was due to her so-called anxiety medication.
01:18:03A beta blocker would slow her heart down enough that her pulse wouldn't be felt with her hand.
01:18:08What?
01:18:10Khalif, you were the last one to join us out here after the explosion.
01:18:19Were you giving Regan a shot of epinephrine to revive her, enabling her to simply walk out
01:18:24of the house?
01:18:27Shh.
01:18:29Come on.
01:18:30Come on.
01:18:31Okay.
01:18:32Okay.
01:18:34Khalif?
01:18:36Is this true?
01:18:38I'd like to hear what else they have to say.
01:18:45Remember, Regan's death wasn't the first thing that went wrong that night.
01:18:49The first was the revelation of Inga's so-called criminal history.
01:18:53Inga and Dex's quick exit gave them time to put explosives onto the Bluetooth terminal,
01:18:57which could have been triggered by the same remote that triggered the dark gun which shot Reap.
01:19:01Telemachus roughly translates to archer, but it actually means far from battle because an archer can kill from a distance.
01:19:09He could have hidden behind a book before he insisted we frisked her.
01:19:13Then Dex, along with the very much alive Regan and Caliph, staged his death at the ruins.
01:19:24He wore this hat not only to irritate Janie, but so there would be a recognizable clothing item to draw everyone's attention.
01:19:31What about Stanley?
01:19:33Stanley becomes crucial at this point. Everything he said and did was designed to make him our prime suspect.
01:19:39He pulled a knife on Jason to ensure he'd get locked up.
01:19:42Making Inga so scared to be here, we all had to stay in one room together.
01:19:46Which gave Dex, Regan and Stanley plenty of time to stage Stanley's murder,
01:19:52cue us with the replica glasses in the hidden box, and dispatch one final insult to John Murtagh.
01:19:58A rather brilliant callback to the original murder of Mystery Island.
01:20:01And a very meta game for us all to play.
01:20:03Three murders that, like Murtaugh's, weren't murders at all.
01:20:07Well done!
01:20:13Well done!
01:20:14Well done!
01:20:15Bravo!
01:20:16Yay!
01:20:21Well done, you two. I bet, Regan, you wouldn't be able to solve it.
01:20:24And I'm happy to say you owe me a nice big check.
01:20:27Please forgive my bit of deception about your academic record, Tom.
01:20:30Well, no worries, man. This was awesome.
01:20:35And Amelia, my apologies for bringing Lonnie Alford into this.
01:20:39I hope I didn't cause you any undue stress. I respect your work immensely.
01:20:43Detective, I do hope you'll consider dropping the charges.
01:20:47We're good.
01:20:49But I do have one more thing to say to Dex.
01:20:53Oh, yeah? What's that?
01:20:56Thanks for letting me play the bad guy for once.
01:20:59Wrong way.
01:21:00Hats off to you, Stanley. You're a legend.
01:21:03And Carlos, did we meet the gold standard set by the Mystery Island team?
01:21:08I am completely blown away.
01:21:11And Janie?
01:21:13Yes, I must admit, I am also blown away.
01:21:16Well, I learned from studying the best.
01:21:19You are incredible at this. I was just trying to keep up.
01:21:22Well, I was worried that you would outshine us, and I think that you might have.
01:21:25Nonsense.
01:21:26I'm honored to have you as a mentor.
01:21:29Oh, so I'm your boss.
01:21:31No, no, I think that's about right.
01:21:34Now, I think that we can all agree that Mystery Mountain is in very good hands.
01:21:40I second that.
01:21:42Good.
01:21:44To the first of many.
01:21:45Here, here, here.
01:21:49Well, then.
01:21:53Should we head to the dining room for a victory lunch?
01:21:55Now, is anyone else starving?
01:21:57Oh, yes.
01:21:59Oh, I think we should get that wonderful ice cream.
01:22:01Can we get more sandwiches?
01:22:12Not hungry?
01:22:14Famished.
01:22:19But I've been wanting to do something for a really long time.
01:22:24Why?
01:22:25It's better than solving any game.
01:22:26Agreed?
01:22:27I think the best game would be...
01:22:28trying to solve the mystery of you.
01:22:31Why?
01:22:32I think the best game would be...
01:22:40trying to solve the mystery of you.
01:22:43I think the best game would be
01:22:46Trying to solve the mystery of you
01:23:05Finally
