00:00Alex, so takeaways from the loss to the Steelers.
00:05Let's start with the headline, Ramondre Stevenson, the fumbling problem.
00:10You know, there's talk of Vrabel has to button things up, the bad penalties, the fumbles.
00:15So you have to make a statement.
00:17You're not going to change a culture in three games.
00:19You're not going to change a culture in one offseason.
00:21But if a culture changes what you're going after, how do you handle the Stevens situation in your opinion?
00:27It's tricky because it's not as simple as the fumbles.
00:29And I wrote about this a little bit in the Patriots mailbag that I posted this morning on 98.5thesportslub.com.
00:35He's also been one of their few, you know, you want to call explosive players.
00:39They have seven gains of more than 20 yards this season.
00:42He has three of them.
00:44You look at what he was doing in that game before the second fumble.
00:47They convert three third and ten or longers on that big drive at the end of the first half.
00:52He converted a couple of them.
00:53And then one was, I think, third and 12 where he gets 11.
00:56And then that was the one where they went for it, backed all the way up in their own end,
00:59which he also converted.
01:00So Travion Henderson, the wheels are still spinning a little bit.
01:03He still looks a little bit like a rookie.
01:05Antonio Gibson fumbled as well.
01:07So, look, you can't have a guy out there that's going to be putting the ball on the ground once or twice again.
01:11You can't have that.
01:12But at the same time, and you saw it in Miami, he does add a dynamic to their offense that they're struggling to find right now.
01:19When Mike Vrabel said after the game, we're going to need him, he's not wrong.
01:22They are going to need him.
01:23And the question is, how do you balance what he gives you with the fumbling issues?
01:28He clearly needs to touch the ball less.
01:30But right now, unless Travion Henderson gets it going, the dynamic he brings is important.
01:35I guess I'm just not seeing it.
01:37And, you know, I'll take your word for it.
01:39But when I think, you know, you don't have a ton to choose from, but when you think about dynamic, explosive, offensive plays that the Patriots have put up just in these first three games,
01:51I first think about Hunter Henry.
01:54I think about Keyshawn Booty.
01:56I think about Drake May picking up yards with his own feet.
01:59Ramondre Stevenson is like fourth, fifth on the list.
02:03I'm just, I'm not, I'm not recalling him being like instrumental or having those, those big impact plays.
02:10So part of it is he hasn't scored touchdown yet.
02:12Like there's been big gains, but they haven't ended up in the end zone.
02:15The 55 yarder against Miami, right?
02:17That's not a score that sets up a score.
02:19It's not a score.
02:20And the one, the ones against Pittsburgh, literally I'm writing down, you have a, during the game, I have a piece of scratch paper that I'm just writing ideas down on as I go.
02:27And I'm like, Ramondre converting big third downs, look up and he fumbled.
02:30And I go cross that out and I'm like, all right, there's a different story for him.
02:33Now it kind of changes the tone.
02:35Some of it is too, to what you said, there's not a lot to pick from.
02:38Ideally you have other guys step up and step into those more explosive roles.
02:42And that's where we can get into, what are they going to do with the wide receiver position?
02:45Do we maybe start to see some more of Kyle Williams?
02:48And then you don't have to worry about getting that kind of play as much from your running back.
